I still can’t believe they animated surrealism
It’s already pretty hard to draw but they ANIMATED IT, not to mention the unbelievable amount of symbolism and messages in this show
Yeah, Akiyuki Shinbou is a master of surrealism and abstract symbolism. You will see these elements in every single show he has directed.

@@Quarter_BeetheSkid yes and in the end homuras choice was better now everyone is happy and there is no more magical girls and witches and bad stuff. Madoka's wish while good yes still meant that kyubey would still make more magical girls and it would have been an endless cycle for Madoka. This whole show teaches literally tells you to not make wishes for others sake and thats exactly what madoka did she mde the ultimate selfless wish and instead ended up not only harming herself but Homura too Madoka changed nothing except for stopping magical girls from going into despair which at the end kyubey was scheming a plan to capture godoka (anyways this wasn't directed towards you or anything i was just explaining how Homura did a better job at what madoka was going to do or was doing anyways)

Madoka in a single moment almost became a goddess again by the slightest of triggers
At least Madoka's world was stable, the one Homura created could fail the moment Madoka remembers too much

I decided to watch this out of curiosity. The first 2 episodes were very sweet and cutesy and fit the opening so well. Then episode 3 hit..... And with it the entire show went to shit in the best way possible. I love this show so much and my heart hurts for these characters. This fractured version of this song combined with Homura's descent into madness in this AMV is a perfect combination. Well done.

When I was a lot smaller I had just finished watching Glitter Force with my brother and we were looking for another one like it and found Madoka magic. My other brother came up and told us not to watch it when we were in the intro. Watched it last year

She doesnt hate Madoka. She cares too much about her. And besides I find it quite depressing for one person to remember someone and the rest of the world not. Besides she went through a lot.
There’s a thin line between love and obsession, yes, Homura’s obsessed with Madoka, but she’s more obsessed with the promise she made Madoka, to the point she’d defy the very makings of the universe to ensure she’s safe.

She hates Madoka for what she is- a painfully self-sacrificing girl who throws her soul away over and over and over again, no matter how hard she tries to stop her. And finally, she hates Madoka for what she did, becoming Hope and leaving her behind as the only person who remembers her. Homura probably doesn’t realize she harbors that hatred, but she does all the same.

I remember watched this anime when i'm 9 or 10 years old with my mother, we still laugh in ep 1 and 2, when we watch eps 3 and Mami's head got chomped by Charlotte, we both look at each other with 'WTF That Was' look.
My mother ended up close the laptop and warned me to never watch this again until i'm old enough.

In fact, my bff showed this to me when I was 8 and a half, my poor innocent soul ;w; and this is now my favorite movie of all, I have refused to watch any anime but this one and was TRIGGERED when they took it off of EVERYTHING recently- Once you see Madoka, you're never the same person, and I can tell you that one first-hand.
