True. When you live closer to n the bush you must make sure you place some water around the fence for snakes or else they will look for it inside your house. When they are thirsty they are very combative and ready for anything.

That was a puff adder not a constrictor it's a very lazy snake but has a very potent venom mostly hides under rocks, huge stones and logs waiting for prey.

Hi Emily i hear tobacco plants keep snakes away.Also, you can use a herbicide called Nemesis .It's available in Agrovet shops and it's strong enough to kill the type of vegetation i have seen in your compound.
There are some flowers that you can plant that keeps the snakes away.they are in White and purple colour.although not a 💯 percent perfect.i live in an area with with snakes but since I planted the flowers I have not seen a snake

Phew! that was close. Snakes do eat bird eggs so keep an eye for eggs laying around the homestead, could be attracting them. Some snakes can still pass through the wire mesh, maybe best to have a metal piece added at the bottom of the patio door, doesn't have to be too high maybe 50cm. That was a quick kill seems those guys have done this before😅 Stay safe and aware!

The snake plays a very important role in the ecosystem and is part of the country's wildlife. It is just passing and is on its ``way. It could also be looking for water. It is a puff adder and when it bites a human its poison moves very slowly and although it is highly venomous the fatality from its bite is low because of the slow poison movement. Naturally, it would not attack humans but instead keep a distance. The best thing could have been to allow it to get out of the compound. Also, it appears to be mature. All the same pole sana. It must be scary. Just do not allow the grass to be long and such creatures would stay away from the beautiful compound.
Just so you know, house cats have the fastest reflexes among in the animal kingdom. They rarely get bitten by a snake.
Bt I really wish our country or especially that county had some reliable amd responsive animal control that can rescue such animals invading human settlement areas,coz it was not nice seeing the snake being killed,I think it did not deserve to go that way,some responsibile human could have safely caught it and released it far from people back to the wild, Anyway Its all natural though

@josephkabororo6847 a puff adder has a quicker strike than most snakes if not all. A black mamba has speed in movement (faster reflexes). Both bites would kill a cat, but none can match a cat's overall reflexes, unless the cat is unaware. Same with mongoose who have lightening speed reflexes.
