    What is the light anddark collection for and should I just get the legendary collection if I want the DLC’s?

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  Місяць тому

      TL;DR - If you own nothing and want to get everything (EXCEPT THE WITCH QUEEN AND LIGHTFALL DUNGEONS), The Light and Darkness Collection is a good way to do it. If you are unsure if you'll stick with the game, you may want to get The Legacy Collection and just The Final Shape without the Annual Pass and just purchase the Episode Passes for the episodes you're playing during. If you own some expansions already, you'll want to do the math.
      The Light and Darkness Collection is a new bundle that they released that contains: The Final Shape + Annual Pass ($100), Lightfall ($30), The Witch Queen ($30), 30th Anniversary Pack ($25), Beyond Light Pack ($20), Shadowkeep Pack ($20), and Forsaken Pack ($20).
      So it's basically the Legacy Collection combined with The Final Shape + Annual Pass. Purchasing everything separately at full price would run you $245 vs $150 if you buy this bundle, so you're definitely saving if you own nothing and want to get everything. You'd also be saving $10 with this bundle vs buying The Legacy Collection and The Final Shape + Annual Pass.
      If you already own bits a pieces of it, you'll definitely want to look at buying the pieces you're missing separately and determine what's a better bargain (As of October 2024, most of the expansions except for Lightfall and The Final Shape have been on sale for less than $5)

    I'm still upset I paid money for this game when it came out, only for it to go free to play and delete all of the content I paid for, and then ask another $80 for everything while its on SALE (minus shape). Bungie is terrible when it comes to Destiny 2 and deserves absolutely nothing. Good video tho.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому +6

      Yeah, it is a bummer that removing content was their solution for awhile, and we still see it to some extent with seasonal content and assumedly the new episodic content. It'd be nice if they could give everyone some kind of discount on the Legacy Collection based on what they already own or have purchased in the past, even if it is now removed. This is also why I usually recommend picking the expansions up on sale, because it's absolutely ridiculously overpriced getting everything for the list price.

      Yeah, it'd be nice if it was much simpler. I think The Legacy Collection helps, but I'd love to see them pivot to just including all the older expansions for free with the purchase of the newest one. That said, for what is essentially an MMO with no subscription, I understand doing it this way, but you're spot on with how confusing that makes it for new players.

      Not every exotic is going to be meta, but there are definitely ones that still see a lot of use that are tied to the older content. Unless you're trying to do the raids on the highest difficulty, you can get away with using just about any exotic that you find fun.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому +7

      Ah, that's a good question. The individual expansions/packs and the Legacy Collection that combines them all give you access to those exotics in the sense that they can now drop randomly throughout the world, from activities that reward exotic engrams, or be claimed in the Monument of Lost Light in the tower. There are some that are tied to quests that you can pick up by playing the associated campaigns as well. Though I know a lot of us would love it if we just had the entire selection at our disposal from the jump, the way Destiny 2 does it still requires you to get them through playing.

  • @Sealo.

    Really appreciate the video! if i have forsaken, shadowkeep, and beyond light. should i buy lightfall alone? cause i already played witch queen when it was free so idk if its worth legacy.
    or should i skip lightfall and just get the final shape?
    do you think there would be final shape sales this summer cause if not ill probably buy it now.
    anyway thanks for the video and your research!

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому +2

      So it depends. If you're only missing Lightfall ($10 on sale), The Witch Queen ($6 on sale), and the 30th Anniversary Pack ($4 on sale), buying all of those separately would only run you $20 which is $5 cheaper than The Legacy Collection which is on sale for $25 vs it saving you $15 when things aren't on sale. So yeah, picking one or all of those up individually is a better option for you if they're on sale.
      It's up to you if you think The Witch Queen and the 30th Anniversary Pack are worth it, as not owning them does lock you out of a raid, a dungeon, and some exotics I believe, so if you're interested in those, it might be worth it to pick those ones up, too.
      The Final Shape will go on sale, but I don't know when. Historically, the newest expansions have gone on sale during the summer sales and at the release of new seasons, so there may be some sales in July or August, but previous expansions have come out in February/March, so a summer sale comes after 5ish months after release. The second Episode will begin in early October, so I feel pretty confident in saying The Final Shape will be on sale then.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому +1

      Depends on what you want. In terms of story, The Final Shape is way better than Lightfall. Both come with subclasses, Strand in Lightfall and Prismatic in The Final Shape and those are both excellent in my opinion. I think the biggest thing is how much do you want to spend? $10 for Lightfall or $50 for The Final Shape? I think The Final Shape is an overall better experience, but it's definitely a bigger risk financially if you end up not liking it.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому

      That is a good question! The Dungeon Keys are separate and need to be purchased for ~$20 each if you want the dungeons that came out during The Witch Queen and Lightfall. Some packs do come with dungeons though, usually the older ones. Forsaken Pack comes with The Shattered Throne, Shadowkeep comes with Pit of Heresy, and the 30th Anniversary pack comes with Grasp of Avarice.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  4 місяці тому +1

      I'm not entirely sure how they decide when to put it on sale beyond just noting that it's usually on sale during the big seasonal sales and whenever a new episode comes out. If it's not on sale now, it'll likely be on sale sometime during the next couple of months. Usually these sales give you a week or two opportunity to scoop it up for cheap.

      Glad it was helpful! So my recommendation would be to see what expansions you have access to, like if it's just Forsaken or if it's more. From there, you can do the math and see if buying the ones you're missing is cheaper than just picking up the 2024 Legacy Collection. My guess is that if you're missing more than a couple, it'll probably be cheaper and easier to scoop up the Legacy collection on sale for about $25.

    Do you receive the exotics for purchasing the dlc or do you have to loot it ? I’m confused when it says “unlocks x exotics” I also heard the halo rifle is in the 30th anniversary dlc and It’s honestly the only one I’m considering if it is actually given to you for purchasing the dlc

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  2 місяці тому +1

      That's a tough one because it really depends on the exotic. Some require you to earn them via an quest. Others can be obtained with exotic ciphers, campaign completion, season rewards, or just random drops. Almost none of them are just automatically unlocked via a purchase outside of the seasonal exotic weapon which can also be earned by progressing the free track. So it's pretty much unlocking your ability to get them, not giving them to you immediately. Still gotta play the game.
      Now, the Halo battle rifle you can just get by playing the Dares of Eternity activity. It's not an exotic or anything, but it is probably one of the strongest pulse rifles in the game.

      Good question, you will not unlock them immediately. You will get a few exotic ciphers that can be spent on some weapons upon purchase of the Forsaken Pack which comes with the Legacy Collection. For the rest it's a combination of quests, dungeons/raids, and random drops.

    Hey man so I am a brand new player, I decided to purchase all the dlc because I found the gameplay very fun from grinding out guardian ranks, it was on a deep sale for summer sale. But I got it and I am not even really sure how to go about tackling the content I bought. Should I go through the final shape because that’s current expansion and then go back to the others at another time? How do I even start up the old campaigns if I wished to do so?. Should I do the timeline quests like the game seems to be suggesting to me, even if I bought the dlc? I realize now I should have researched a lot more on this before I bought it, but I figured there was something like Chromie from wow at the time that would allow me to play the older stuff, but now you are saying something’s have just been deleted which I wasn’t aware of.😅sorry if that is too much.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  4 місяці тому

      Hey, this is a great question! So how you decide to play through it depends on what you are looking for and enjoy about the game. If you are trying to have the most complete story experience, playing through the campaigns in order (Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light -> The Witch Queen -> Lightfall -> The Final Shape -> Episode 1: Echoes). I believe you can find the start of Shadowkeep on the Moon, but you might have to pick up the quest from the kiosk by the mailbox in The Tower after which you should be able to mark it in your quest log and get directions from there. Beyond Light starts on Europa; The Witch Queen in Savathuun's Throne World, and Lightfall on Neptune. The Timeline quests are designed to be a quick catch up for some of the past events that are no longer in the game, so they are worth doing if you're interested in some of that. Now I will say that a lot of the story from the first few years has been removed from the game and is just not available and a lot of the story that has happened since then occurred in seasonal storylines that are also no longer available, so you'll probably want to watch a youtuber like My Name Is Byf to help you catch up on it all.
      If you're just looking to have fun and enjoy the game, then I'd say doing The Final Shape campaign might be the way to go, as I think it's an excellent one and adds a ton of fun stuff to the game between the new subclass and the after campaign activities. Beyond Light and Lightfall are also worth doing to unlock their subclasses. But really, just kind of following the fun wherever it takes you isn't a bad time either.
      Hope this helps!

      Thanks! Yes, for you it sounds like the Legacy Collection is a great choice! You're right, it won't include the dungeon keys which run $20 a piece, but I would recommend checking out the four other dungeons you'll have access to before deciding if you want to purchase the Lightfall and Witch Queen ones. That way if dungeons aren't you're thing, you're not wasting your money. And then once you've gotten a feel for the game, if you're still enjoying it go for The Final Shape!

    Is destiny 2 a good solo campaign friendly

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  3 місяці тому

      Good question! Yes and no. Yes because the gameplay is some of the best in the genre in my opinion and you can have a ton of fun with it solo or with a group on both the normal and legendary difficulty settings. No because if you're coming for the story, you'll likely be disappointed. While the campaign stories are good, so much of the ongoing Destiny narrative has been told through seasonal storylines that are no longer available in the game, not to mention that there are entire expansions that have been vaulted and are no longer accessible meaning if you want the full story, you'll have to watch some youtube videos to catch you up. So yes, it's a good solo experience if you are looking for some great, fun gameplay, but no if you are hoping to be able to follow a coherent story from start to finish.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  3 місяці тому +1

      Lightfall or The Final Shape may be good places to start since they unlock subclasses that give you more options for builds, though I'm not sure what the PVP meta is with Strand and Prismatic. As far as gear goes, I'd probably say start with the Beyond Light campaign if you're looking for PVP weapons since there are a few good ones you can earn through completing some missions, but a majority of the gear comes from random drops, so you can really do whatever you're enjoying and eventually earn them that way. If there are specifics you're wanting, you can also use exotic ciphers to unlock them from the kiosk or keep an eye on Xur's inventory each weekend where he sells some stuff. It may help to look up a few builds you want to shoot for and see if any of the pieces come from somewhere specific that you can target, but otherwise, just playing the game earns you the gear over time!

Once you purchase an expansion with a campaign, you'll have new missions unlock that'll take you through it. Hope you enjoy!

      Yes, this was created at the release of The Final Shape in June 2024 and should be up to date. As of July 2024 there have been no changes. When Episode 2 and 3 come out, there may be some changes to the Silver/Cosmetics Bundle that they sell, but everything else should remain the same.

    What im trying to figure out is is it worth supporting the game? I've just started playing because my friend has started playing it again, he used to play years ago and bought all the content. But so much of his content is unavailable now. And the whole thing of the dungeon keys being removed which you now have to spend silver to be able to enter the dungeons which you previously would've got in the dlc.

    • @YourFNGamers

      It's up to you if you want to support the game. I love the game and have gotten a ton of enjoyment for my investment in the game, even though I've been there from the beginning and can no longer go back and play some of the older content I had. MMO like games change and I'm okay with that and while I appreciate game preservation and digital ownership rights, I feel like for a majority of gamers it's a nice idea they would never utilize. The dungeon keys thing is weird, but I think it has more to do with the console makers than Bungie, as part of their reason was so that you could have access to the dungeons across platforms since the are purchased with silver and not from the console manufacturer's storefront like the expansions and have to rebuy it if you play on multiple consoles or change consoles. All of that to say, I think the issue is more nuanced than "Bungie is greedy and should I support that" but that doesn't make for as ad revenue in our outrage culture.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому

      It depends on what you are wanting, but as a brand new player, the Legacy Collection is a fantastic deal. Now if you're looking to be able to play through a cohesive story by starting with all the old content in the Legacy Collection, unfortunately you can't because of the way that Destiny has done it's story. Because of this, some people like to jump into the freshest expansion to experience the story as it comes out. Many new players also get into the game because their veteran friends have been hassling them to try it out and so those players may find it more fun to get The Final Shape since that's what their friends will be wanting to play. Eventually, if you like playing Destiny, you'll probably want both, since the Legacy Collection gives you access to a lot of exotics that you can use to make new builds, and The Final Shape is where all the new stuff is. So ultimately, if you don't care about playing the newest stuff right away, I'd say going with the Legacy Collection will get you a ton of bang for your buck and then down the road you can probably score The Final Shape on sale. But if you're playing with a group, see what they're doing because it'd be a bummer to not be able to play with friends.

      With the release of The Final Shape, they made the campaign for Beyond Light free for all players and with it, the Stasis subclass. Previously, you needed to own Beyond Light in order to use Stasis, but now everyone can. That does not apply to Strand that came with Lightfall or the Prismatic subclass that comes with The Final Shape, as a purchase of those respective expansions is needed to unlock them.

      Legacy edition right now is the best bang for your buck especially with the current sale. But its mostly 'old' content as the name says and the biggest aspects of the collection are the dungeons and raids. But its a massive steal right now. Good question! So The Legacy Collection comes with Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall, and The 30th Anniversary Pack and has been on sale for $25. If you can find all of those individually for at or around that price, then sure, buying them that way isn't too big of a deal. But if they are more than that, I'd probably recommend waiting until it goes on sale again. Either way, the Witch Queen and Lightfall dungeon keys are separate from the Legacy Collection or buying those expansions individually, so to get those you'll need to shell out $20 each in Bungie's in game store. I'd personally recommend trying out the Prophecy dungeon you have access to for free or Pit of Heresy, Shattered Throne, and Grasp of Avarice that come with some of the older expansions/Legacy Collection before paying for the dungeon keys, just to make sure you even want to do dungeons.

    Brand new player, trying to replicate builds that my experienced friends are showing me. Is the best purchase the legacy collection to get the exact pieces in those builds, or the annual pass for future rewards? Unsure if I should be ignoring these specific builds while I don’t have any of the old exotics they have in them.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  5 місяців тому +1

      A lot of builds still use older exotics, so it may be worth picking up the Legacy Collection. Now you won't just get given the exotics, you'll still have to wait for them to drop or unlock them with the exotic cyphers, but they'll come. Usually the exotics that come with the annual pass stuff are the weapons which seem to be way less important to most builds than the armor exotics. For now too you can try looking at the exotics you do have and finding a build for those. I know there are some youtubers out there who challenge themselves to make a build for each exotic.

    • @YourFNGamers

      Some of the exotics are just random drops, while others are tied to a quest. If you complete the campaigns, a lot of times you'll get the option to pick a free exotic as well. Some you can unlock in an alternate way through the Monument of Lost Light in the Tower. I believe now you can also gain reputation with the guy in the tower who opens your exotic engrams for you and I've heard if you get that high enough, you can choose which exotics you want to unlock.

    • @YourFNGamers
      @YourFNGamers  3 місяці тому

      Great question! So pretty much all of the expansions have some exotic weapons and armors that see regular use in the higher tiers of content. The Forsaken pack definitely has a bunch because it bundles a lot of the exotics from the older content into one place. The Witch Queen's campaign is praised by a lot of people and is often recommended, too, though I think it's raid is probably one of the less popular ones if you are interested in raiding. If you want to be able to grind out raids, The Legacy Collection is probably your best bet as it'll give you access to all but the newest raid and exotics that come with The Final Shape. If you're not looking to spend that much, Forsaken is a good one to pick up and then I'd recommend looking up some raid builds for whatever class you are playing and seeing which expansion those exotics come from and buying those since you're interested in raiding. The 30th Anniversary Pack does give you access to Gjallarhorn which is a top tier rocket launcher, so it may be worth it if you want to run that, but it does not come with a raid like pretty much every other expansion.

      Yes, the annual pass will unlock Episode 1: Echoes, Episode 2: Revenant, and Episode 3: Heresy as they become available over the next year along with the Dungeon Key. Buying The Final Shape, Episodes, and Dungeon Key separately would run you at least $100, so The Final Shape + Annual Pass for $80 is technically a deal. That said, $80 is still a decent amount of money, so what I always ask is, "How much Destiny 2 do you plan on playing?" If you're going to max out each episode's battle pass and play through all of the story and dungeons, then yeah, it's a good purchase. But if you can see yourself falling off or taking a break and missing out on some of the content you paid for, it might be wiser to just pick up The Final Shape, which comes with the current episode when you buy it, and picking the other stuff up bit by bit if you're still playing.

    • @YourFNGamers

      I definitely don't think it's a waste of time to start with the Legacy Collection; you'll get a bunch of new exotic weapons and armors, the stasis and strand subclasses, and get to play through some of the older stories while you do it. That said, a lot of Destiny's story has been told in the now removed campaigns or seasonal storylines that are no longer available, so if you're hoping to be all caught up on the story by playing through everything in order, you'll likely still have a lot of gaps that need to be filled in by youtubers like MyNameIsByf. If you're okay waiting on The Final Shape to go on sale, I think it's hard to go wrong with the Legacy Collection to tide you over. If you want to experience all of the newest and freshest content, The Final Shape may be more appealing, but also likely won't go on sale until the end of the summer or sometime this fall. I don't think either is a bad choice, so it really comes down to how much you're wanting to invest into Destiny right now.

      Good question! So it's my understanding that if you are using the same Bungie account on PC that you were using on Playstation, your cosmetics, weapons, and armors should all still be usable, regardless of whether you have the DLCs or not. You won't be able to get new exotics, weapons, and armors from the DLCs you owned on PS4, but the ones you already have aren't locked out or anything. From what I understand, the DLCs are tied to platform since you're purchasing those through Steam/Playstation/Xbox, but the cosmetics, seasons, and dungeon keys are cross platform since you buy them from Bungie directly with their premium currency.

      Destiny 2 is not on GamePass, but there is a lot of Destiny 2 that is free to play. The New Light, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light campaigns are free to all players. The strikes, pvp, and gambit modes are all available as well. They even have the Prophecy dungeon and Kingsfall, Crota's End, and Garden of Salvation raids for free. So there is no reason to buy anything until you at least play through some of those offerings and see if you enjoy the game. From there, if you want to access more campaigns, dungeons, raids, and exotics, you can purchase The Legacy Collection and/or The Final Shape.
      Occasionally they'll do free weekends where some of the paid content is available to try for a limited time for everyone and I think PS+ gave away some of the expansions last year, so maybe you're thinking of that?

      So you don't need to buy anything. While the new player experience is still not great, you can play the New Light, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light campaigns for free. You also have access to the Prophecy dungeon for free, which lets you see if you even like dungeons before you consider buying more of them. The Crota's End, Kingsfall, and Vault of Glass raids are also free, along with strikes, pvp, and gambit. So you can basically get a taste of everything without ever spending any money on the game.
      From there, if you enjoy it, the best options to expand your content in my opinion, is picking up the Legacy Collection on sale which will get you all of the past content for about $25 or picking up the newest expansion The Final Shape. The dungeons are completely optional and I only recommend them if you actually enjoy and run dungeons, because according to stats, roughly only 5% of players are doing dungeons.
      So you only have to "buy all the expansions plus the dungeons that are from those expansions" if you're worried about having literally everything. If all you're looking to do is try the game out, you can do that for free and slowly build up your collection if you enjoy it by getting stuff on sale.

      Yeah, the new player on boarding is overwhelming and scattered, though to be fair, I think that is a problem with most MMO like games, haha. Yeah, I think playing through The Witch Queen and seeing how you like it will be a good baseline to see if you are enjoying the main gameplay loop! That's a good question about dungeons vs raids. Dungeons are essentially 3 person mini raids, usually with some simpler mechanics and a run is typically shorter. The Raids are 6 person, longer experiences where there are usually multiple roles and mechanics in each fight to learn and generally require much more teamwork. The naming convention is a little weird if you're coming from something like WoW, because what WoW calls dungeons are essentially the Strikes in Destiny 2 and those are included with the expansion.

      Yeah, now I'm not justifying the way they do a price things because as a Destiny lover, I'd be thrilled to see more people get into the game and know that this is one of the main hinderances. I do feel like they've worked themselves into a weird corner because the type of game that Destiny 2 is closest to to me is a light mmo and most of those have free to play intros with a similar model of either buying episodes or paying a monthly subscription, which I feel like people would revolt to in Destiny 2. Basically, I feel like plenty of people are out there buying yearly installments of call of duty and skipping the ones they don't want and you can do that with Destiny 2, especially if all you care about is the gameplay. If you do want basically all of their backlog, they have it bundled and on sale frequently. But I don't blame anyone for wanting to go play a different game. I do wonder if a potential Destiny 3 might benefit from a subscription model that just gives access to everything in the game for like $10 a month or something would be more palatable, but then again, maybe I'm just trying to make everyone on the gaming internet happy which is a fools errand haha.

      As someone who has been here from the beginning, Destiny 1 did have a more traditional way of expanding the game, which I do miss, though I do still enjoy Destiny 2 now. I also think a lot of people forget that there were a ton of complaints from the vocal minority about Destiny 1 and the endgame there and it was having a lot of struggles until The Taken King expansion came out and revitalized it. We look back now with rose colored glasses and remember the good way more than the bad, but I think we're missing a time and place more than that game.

    I don’t get it, I bought the legacy collection and got all the weapon packs but there all still locked. Do I have to do the quests to get them, I thought I would already own all of the exoctics??

      When Bungie says you "unlock" exotics after buying their corresponding dlc, they mean you'll just be able to acquire them as without the packs you can't get them no matter what. So, yeah for some exotics you have to do quests, progress the campaign or just pray they drop randomly.

      @@andrewedward5181ohh ok I see thanks a lot. Idk it’s hat stupid that I’m paying for the “chance to unlock them” but not actually unlocking them. It’s super scummy on bungies part I’m sorry but that’s just bullshit
