FWIW: I have been living in North Carolina since the mid-1990s, but I was born and raised in St. Petersburg. My first full-time job, 1979-1980, was working the Line Crew at an FBO at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Pete. *_"Seems a thousand centuries ago."_* - APOCALYPSE NOW [1979]
I need to do this XC requirement, too. Really interested in an Ercoupe now for the same time building reasons as well. I'll keep an eye out for one within my reach. Thank you for sharing your journey with all this!
I'm in the process of buying a couple, thanks for the chair flying. After I take possession, I may reach out to you for some cross training. I'm pretty close, fa40, about 45 minutes by air
Congrats 👏 good job. One thing I have noticed on my coupe is that you really have to pay attention to the carb heat. The old carburetors seems to require more adjustments than the newer ones.
Enjoyable ride along thanks. Fyi. I was trained in my PPL to always have one hand on the yoke and other on throttle for take off and landings…due mechanical throttle links possibly going faulty.?
8:05 Do the Regs specify that the entire cross country trip be completed in one day? Seems like allowing for an overnight stop for divergent weather would be a good safety allowance. Perhaps you ate bad mayonnaise at lunch and needed 24 hrs to recover from stomach upset. 16:50 You mention 2.9 G/Tach-Hour; at what cruise RPM does TachTime match Hobbs-Hour? Like 1:1 ratio? Enjoy your videos very much.
I’ve had that same thought but the stop did make it where the last legs was not 250nm. The tach number times 1.3 is equivalent to hobbs time at the rpm’s I cruise at. When I said gph/tach time the conversion to Hobbs was done
You fly that coupe slow. I use to run at 2250 with the old engine then went to 2300 with the new engine at a blazing 105 mph. But burning 5 gallons an hour in the big c90 engine. Plus i never did lean the engine unless I was over 5,000 feet. Just thinking maybe you should do a tour of the plane someday.
Hey Mitch, did you get your commercial rating yet? I really like your videos and I've always been a fan of the Ercoupe. Did you sell the plane, and if so, what are you flying theses days?
Joe here with 2601H. What was your cruise RPM at those lower speeds? That good landing was apparent with the camera by looking back wards. Nice job. I forgot how flat it is down there….
Obsessed with the Ercoupe. Don’t really know why. But what a beautiful example you have!
That flight was a nice tag along for me. I am a retired civil engineer in Idaho. I too have an Ercoupe. Cheers.
Glad you could tag along!
The Ercoup was so ahead of its time! Looks more advanced than a 2023 172.

Thanks for the kind words! Working on a video currently talking about should you buy a plane to time build and my experience thus far doing so.
Bro 👌 totally loved the fuel ⛽ burn 2.9-3.9😊😊😊 awesome 👍🏻 congratulations 👏🏻

that sounds great!

My coupe is slower than most but yes I do fly it slow because I’m trying to build as many hours as possible
Nice Ercoupe. Do you have the original linked control system or has it been converted to 3 axis?
What is that white box marked sentry that’s on the instrument panel?
Now you just gotta fly alll the way back 😂
Oh no! More hours 😂
Hey Mitch, did you get your commercial rating yet? I really like your videos and I've always been a fan of the Ercoupe. Did you sell the plane, and if so, what are you flying theses days?
I’ve got newer videos updating on planes and ratings but yes I’m commercial single and multi rated. Flying a twin Comanche and c150 these days
Do you have a rudder kit on your Ercoupe
Great job love your vids. Curious does your 415C have rudder pedals?
What would I use rudder pedals for? 😂
Ha !! Now THERES a Couper !!!

2050 rpm, trying to save money and keep my cylinder head temp as low as possible
@@risingsun_ wow. That’s slow !! But the GPH is impressive.
@@joewilliams4142 it’s very slow but my goal is to build time and to do so cheap. So it’s perfect for me
@@risingsun_ oh. I know. How can one complain at 3.1 !!! You will spend the least ever recorded to get the rating !
Plus. It’s fun.
@@joewilliams4142 you are probably right about that!
2.9gph, nice! What was the flight time for the 250nm leg?
It was just over 4 hours (strong headwind)
@@risingsun_ those headwinds can be an adventure.
What engine do you have?
My long cml xc was about as fun
Way to grease those landings.
Thank you!
@@risingsun_ you have to work at making a bad landing in a Coupe,
