That's what manufacturers always use: true speed...but it's based on the speedo AFAIK, so they estimate how much it will be with the speedo error, usually about 255-260 km/h or something with modern speedos. Just look at this video as an example: it went up to 256 km/h according to the speedo, with possibly uphill and headwind, it probably would've gone max 260 km/h on the speedo even with downhill and tailwind.

What the hell? Again UA-cam has removed my comment! Why? I wrote about speed limiters in several generations of 7-series BMWs...why was that removed? UA-cam is not only an evil, fraudulent company who lies and steals data, then sells those stolen things, but they are also totally incompetent and their product is broken.
Everyone get off UA-cam as soon as you can, switch to an honest company that doesn't defraud you and who have a functioning product.

Euro 7 killed this diesel. It is, unfortunately. The 340 horsepower engine did not meet emission standards, so it was scrapped

@@zameerosman8265 What new X5 how is this LCI? This car is construction from 2018 and the new BMW 7 series is a new generation, therefore this diesel after the change.
@@clickbaitpl the lci x5 30d has 300hp but the power figures for the 40d should be 350hp so y is the 40d underpowered in the 740d 2023

I really don't understand why BMW doesn't offer 740i in Europe. It handles good and is overall a great package. You have to go with either a diesel or a heavy hybrid/electric version.

Here in SA we only get the 740i and I wish we got the 740d😢
CO2 emission laws
Because the petrol version is quite unappealing for a company vehicle in Europe, I guess. For short distances you can get the i7 and get the tax benefits that come with it, and for everything else you have the hybrids (again, for tax reasons) and the Diesels.
I have the 740i g11 mit M package and i Love my car. The B58 is awesome. The Quality of the interrior is incredible. The MHD stage1 is also really Good.
0:18 7-series looks like it's ready for the next variant.

After driving a Merc S400d and a BMW 740d more or less back to back i have to say i would pick the Mercedes. I guess it just comes down to a matter of preference but when i think about these boat-cars i want ultimate luxury and comfort with elegant design and for me personally i feel like the S-Class does a bit of a better job in all these areas. The BMW never quite relaxed me while driving in the way the Mercedes did. Its just so hard to put into words :) I guess the BMW is for someone who even in the luxury department likes a bit of a slight sporty look/feel.
I am not 100% with you. I have driven both. It’s the first time ever that both are very similar in the driving experience. The previous generations were more differentiated because the 7 series was sportier and the S class more comfortable. Now the S class started to be sportier and the 7 series more comfortable.
S class wins definitely with the exterior. The interior and it’s build quality goes for the 7 series. That’s my experience.
For me i think the 7 series and the S class are perfect in their own respective ways

Agreed. You have the pleasant choice between club charme befitting a whorehouse in the S class and aseptic yet confusing bling-bling in the 7 series. Plus the 7 series is disgustingly ugly on the outside as well.

They are trying to maximise sales in China where far far more people can buy a 7 series casually. Unfortunately today the world is about business and not culture and heritage. European culture died already, today its all about consuming products (made and assembled in China) from Western corporations.

The 740d G70 is not available in the UK. We only have the M760e xDrive, 750e xDrive, as well as the i7.

Why it shakes so much at higher speeds?
Looked like they chose sport mode so it will stiffen up the suspension and auto Bahn isn't the best Road in terms of quality. Max usually told us viewers in his old reviews that he prefers comfort on suspension when driving on auto Bahn.

HP means little without the torque, this will feel similar to a 350hp gasoline car in the real world because it makes 480lb-ft (650nm), meaning it also makes *more* power from like 1500rpm-3500rpm than a gasoline B58.

@@pistonburner6448 The difference in emissions you mention is only the result of a certain agreement that allows companies and countries to omit adding the emmissions that come from for example waste as actual emissions. The true emissions must be very close to those of fossil diesel. Saying this, I also think and hope that diesel has a pleace in the future.
