ANTOINE CHESSEX is a multifaceted artist whose work blurs the boundaries between noise, politics of sound, audio deconstruction, and artistic research while transversally exploring sonic imaginations.
Chessex creates ominous sonic fictions investigating the plasticity of space and time. Selected instrumental works include Les Abîmes Hallucinés, La Résonance des Ruines, The Experience of Limit, and Echo/cide.
As a performer, he plays the tenor saxophone through distorting stacks of guitar amplifiers to create monolithic walls of electrified textures and intense live actions as documented on Subjectivation.
As a researcher, Chessex engages critically with discourses and positions within the sound studies field. More specifically, his research focuses the possible relations between sound, listening, artistic practices and cultural analysis.
Chessex is a founding member of the band Monno with whom he toured extensively. He also curates platforms and festivals for adventurous sonic practices and is the editor of the publication Multiple.
