IRONMAN 2023 Baja 1000. Wouter Jan VanDijk.

Wouter flew to San Diego with a friend from Australia, purchased a KTM500 dirt bike and then purchased a tent and sleeping gear and rode to the starting line in LaPaz, Mexico. Working on a shoestring budget, with very limited support, he managed to cross the finish line just under 2 days & 1310 miles later in Ensenada, Mexico, on November 18, 2023.

He's not as unprepared as it might seem at first glance. He had Baja Pits for fuel and support...the same as most Ironmen. The incredible part is that he rode 1300 miles down to the start on the same bike he raced!

I was there got a picture of him in the Baja pits in San Ignacio. There were folks wondering where he was on Facebook I just happened to look up and there he was at our pit. I told him hey look up someone will want to see a picture of you.
