I love how Jim was sweet at times with him. Dwight was like Jim's best friend. I felt my heart touch when he did that magic beans trick, and once Dwight planted them, Jim went to go replace them. 😭
The beauty of all of these is that Jim understands the most fundamental tenet of a funny prank. A good prank, you see, is all setup. It is not an attack, but a trap, a trap that no one in their right mind would fall for - or so it seems to any bystander. The Jell-O prank, earliest of the running theme, is a terrible prank. Why? Because the blame is clear; Jim has done something to Dwight. The wire prank, on the other hand, is a masterwork - because what Jim has done is fundamentally harmless. There is no blame, only humor; Dwight has done something to himself. Jim is only the vessel for his target's paranoia and obsession.
Nowadays a lot of people think pranks are just being mean and hurting/harassing other people. (See basically the entire 'pranks' section of youtube) Jim's pranks are the definition of pranks. They're stupid, hilarious, sometimes very elaborate, but ultimately harmless. Jim knows when to stop because it's not funny anymore. Which is the most important thing that a lot of people don't know what to do. Jim also knows when Dwight needs a little encouragement. Jim does care about his job. He got promoted twice within a matter of months. He sold around $40 000, much to Dwight's envy and dismay. I know that later on, Jim said that trying was something he had never done in his job, but that is clearly out of character with how he acted beforehand. When Dwight was the top salesman at the company in Season 2 and he was ninth, he was clearly green with jealousy. I mean, even in Season 1, Jim did get animated about his biggest sale of the year, even though he had previously claimed that his job bored him (which it did).
Big bake, you should learn what literally means if you wish to continue using it. The only things the shows have in common is the premise and the basic setups of the characters - everything else from the style of humour to the actual scripts were completely different.
If you binge watch the show from beginning to end it, it warms your heart to see how much that dynamic changed over the years. Jim went from being Dwight's most hated enemy, to nearly being the best man at his wedding. Watching that dynamic evolve, leaves a heavy feeling in my heart.
He was the best man at Dwight's wedding. Remember he concocted the bs story so he could convince him to let Michael--or conversely, convince Michael--who Dwight idolizes, be the best man instead. See, that's the kind of thing the best man does.

10:10 when he said “my middle name is Kurt not fart” I LOST IT
At 0:00 I wish the NBC logo would be at the right of the screen instead of the left but that only lasted from the 1990s till 2006.
Some of these are genuinely impressive. The wrapping paper one. I wouldn't even be mad, I'd be amazed. xD
The Fightin' Hobbit I’m not even mad that’s amazing!
"He'll be fine, I made it up there."
That's... Some serious dedication to the joke
You know Dwight and Jim seems like they were both bullied as kids except that Jim grew up to be a smartass.
Well, at least I *have* a life.
Jim Halpert you're commenting on a UA-cam comment masquerading as a character... No you don't...
lmAO SO TRUE THO
i'm actually a 14 y/o girl w no life....better?
Lucy Towey what’s your problem with Jim
@@nope33414 leave Jim alone, at least he has a life.
Dwight should’ve known Jim was messing with him about the wire when he said “I’m really busy” lol Jim doesnt give af about work
Jim does care about his job.
"Oh hello mother; good news I have married, tell father" XD XD
Oh, you saw that, too?
I love how Jim gave him the smallest denomination that the machine would take to get his own stuff back.
"How do you know it was me" while he's eating a cup of jelly lmaoooo
The vending machine is always gold, especially when Dwight is looking for his wallet and Jim says oh look it's in J1 lol 😂😂 J won (Jim won) 🤣🤣
Wow I never made that link
The jokes and pranks are funny but the complaint list at 13:22 are actually hilarious bc they’re so believable😂😂
The nickles in the phone 😂
Adam Shuey lol exactly like I can picture Jim doing that and Dwight hitting himself😂😂
"Michael!... Oh that's funny michael!" Hahahahaha gets me everytime😂😂 gotta love Jim's poker face too hahahaha
The desk made of wrapping paper will always be my favorite scene
“Leave the telescope “ might be the funniest line from the whole show
No. They’re funnier lines
Huh? How is that the funniest line 😂
Where's Asian Jim? That's like the best prank.
asking the real question here.
check the upload date 2011, i think asian jim is later
it is
Asian Jim was, to put it simply, an actor acting like an actor acting.
Oh congratulations for not seeing race.
These are the good old days...
+Michael Scott thats what she said
Michael Scott THATS what she said
S m a m e
Miiiichal
i wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them
Could you imagine Dwight and Sheldon in a room. What the hell would that be like.
I think that is literally what hell is
That would be really funny to see
Omg I would love to see that
Battlestar Galactica arguments , endless one.
That would be legendary
Dwight is such a patient person. I would've thrown hands with Jim constantly if worked with him
Jim’s a big guy he’d flatten Dwight in real life
@@cjj9127 Jim is Big now, when the show started he was scrawny and wirey, he probably got jacked when he got the role in 13 Hours
@@cjj9127 Dwight is still a big guy.
@@cjj9127 Dwight is as tall as Jim though
If anyone one tried to touch Jim Emily Blunt would kick their ass...
Holy crap, the writing of this show is impeccable!
Yeah because its literally a copy of the original (British) version!
+bigbake132 the British one sucks
I'm british and the American one is so much funnier
bigbake132 they barely copied it
Big bake, you should learn what literally means if you wish to continue using it. The only things the shows have in common is the premise and the basic setups of the characters - everything else from the style of humour to the actual scripts were completely different.
HE PUT MY STUFF IN JELLO AGAIN
Again!
Then he tries it with Andy, but he goes psycho
His desk was two feet closer to the copier, with him moving int one inch every time he went to the bathroom...
Dwight had to go 24 times in one day?
***** I think he counted every time he left his desk, he just said bathroom because he didn't know where he was going.
These things didn't actually happen
Would it be that weird if he did 😂
i mean, he does bring his own water
Or meet up with Angela
If you binge watch the show from beginning to end it, it warms your heart to see how much that dynamic changed over the years. Jim went from being Dwight's most hated enemy, to nearly being the best man at his wedding. Watching that dynamic evolve, leaves a heavy feeling in my heart.
He was the best man at Dwight's wedding. Remember he concocted the bs story so he could convince him to let Michael--or conversely, convince Michael--who Dwight idolizes, be the best man instead. See, that's the kind of thing the best man does.
Lmfaoo the beans prank is soo classic.
Jim is the ultimate troll.
Yes I am
Jim, I pranked you. You'll just have to find out how.
I can't find out what is untrue.
Jim Halpert Oh, hello Jim. I am also Jim. Now all we need is Asian Jim.
Jim Halpert False. You need to leave. There's only room for one Jim Halpert in Scranton.
"That is NOT the real Ben Franklin. I'm 99% sure of it!"
Fun fact: we had a peculiar senior secret Santa tradition at my school of making the person wear/say embarrassing things for 3 days before the gift, and the final day I had mine carry around a jello stapler and wear a Dwight costume and reply “identity theft is not a joke Jim” to people coz I knew she was a big Office fan. It was a big hit.
I never watched this show, but I can see why fans had trouble taking John Krasinski serious as Jack Ryan. He's so naturally funny.
You never watched The Office?!
@@mrguy1141 I never have either ....now I regret it
@@ihavenoclevername8300 If you start at Episode 1, it sort of like reading The Fellowship of the Ring. Builds a lot of characters, but it starts rolling once you know everybody.
Butch Greene
Yeah i couldnt get past the few episodes.
@@cotijapatitas I was late to the party with the office to, how I got into it was I just went to a site that just plays tv shows from start to finish on a loop livestreaming and just started watching from whatever random episode was playing at the time, I can now say I've seen every episode like 6 times lol
You missed the one where his desk is in the men’s room
O....M....G. Dang it whyyyyyyyy. That one was the funniest.
Wash your hands Kevin
John Krasinski is just Jim with a higher budget
"Okay, okay. *Judge* is in session, what's going on"
Whoever wrote Michael's lines were so in-tune with his character, it's insane. Even that throw away line was true to his character. 😂💜
That Line is ripped directly from the UK show
@@JAzzWoods-ik4vv okay so? It's still just as in line with the US versions of Michael so.. im not sure why everyone feels the need to bring up the UK version when the bottom line is that they are 2 completely different shows when you watch them.
I believe the 1st episode is basically word for word. It's not until later that the actors truly find and own their character
bears. beats. battle star gallactica.
best quote 😂😂
MICHAEL!! MICHAEEEL)
RickyGoreMusic *beets
is it really? are you sure?
Bears do not....What is going on? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?
Pam's face when Jim walks in the office dressed up as Dwight is priceless.
The stapler in the jello will always be my favorite, or moving Dwight's desk to the bathroom lol
“You sound seexxyy”
“Oh thank-you, I’ve been working out”
Haha :)))
I don’t understand how Dwight is not just automatically suspicious of anything out of place lmao
To be fair, there is a great scene where Pam is sending Dwight messages on his computer, and Dwight automatically narrows his eyes at Jim. Then he types, "How do I know this isn't Jim?" and Jim calmly walks away. Never fails to make me laugh.
You forgot the telekinesis prank where jim moves the cost rack with his mind
smoker2982000. Omg yesss ahah
That was more of Pam tho but I guess not cuz he started it
Asian Jim was my favourite
I love how in the “red wire” one Jim says he has a lot of work to do.. picks up the phone and immediately puts it back down lol
It kills me every time Jim looks into the camera.
why ? And how were you able to comment if you've been killed
Same lmaooooo
It’s quite forced humour. Not that funny
Matt Fry buzzkill
Wait
*You’re Dwight aren’t you*
I liked the Pavlov prank. Where Jim kept rebooting his computer prompting the Windows start sound and he offers him a mint....to the point where Dwight just automatically puts out his hand everytime he hears it.
It's the pranks he puts time and effort into that are the funniest.
