First of all, *somebody* has been listening to Kennedy Steve ;-) And that's not a bad thing; Dave sounds like a very competent controller who loves his job as much as Steve did. We need more like him! Secondly, thanks for the explanation of PDC! Even as a pilot, that one slipped by me. Great video :-)
@@VASAviation ACARS does use a frequency, just not a voice one. It is QPSK FM and not the AM that airplanes use for voice communication. It is in the digital portion of the airband 130,000mhz -136,995 mhz.
@@sassychick813 I believe it must be standard, at least at bigger airports, b/c kennedy steve mentioned in an interview that all ATC at Kennedy worked all positions, each shift. Typically no more than 60-75 mins spent working ground (and presumably others, too) before rotating to next position.
ATC: Runway 24, Quebec's the ATIS, alitmeter is 29.97. Left on VICTOR, cross runway 33R, BRAVO and CHARLIE Me: ... (i already forgot what runway he said)
If the PDC doesn't use radio frequency, how does the airplane receive it? Plugin land line connection? It must use radio frequency, I can't think of any other way the airplane would 'receive' it.
Cristian Fernández holding short of something means, "go there, but don't enter it yet". They have hold short lines in all the necessary places on the airport, they are like the stop lines before a traffic light.
I don't know that Steve was better, but he was certainly more consistently funny and mildly sarcastic. This guy is very good and efficient, but not enough humor (and no tug talk!) to make me want to listen to him endlessly, like with Steve.
Pearson Dave is back!! :)
I like when controllers take their job both seriously and not so seriously. Not a shred of safety lost but still a calming voice on the radio!
Just great 😁 enjoyed this so much. And thx for the explanation of the abbreviation!
Anything during the thunderstorm a few days ago
VASAviation - thanks to
Such great skills! Love your vids, keep em comin! G’day!
"It's the standard, joyous, spring non-event that we're trying to not... believe is actually happening"
Is that like a Canada thing???
It’s definitely a Canadian thing!!
I'd thumbs up but you have exactly as many thumbs up as you need. Any more would ruin it.
ATC: "Blame it on me, its always our fault anyway"
Pilots: "oh, if only we had more ATC's like you, good sir" :P
"we're trying to not believe is actually happening"
I lost it right there 😂😂😂
My dad and I always listen to YYZ ATC when we drive to work together. Pearson Dave is the best
A man that thoroughly enjoys his job

Pearson Dave is awesome!
Indeed!
This man is the funniest controller i've heard yet lol
I liked how you explained PDCs around 5:14! I was wondering what it was as soon as he said it! Awesome video
Anytime :)
Loving Dave like Steve, awesome guys!

Thanks!
"Shhh let's not go there" 😂

Thanks for the quick explaination on PDC!
My pleasure!
Kennedy Steve's Canadian cousin??? Correction: Kennedy Steve's Canadian cousin, eh???
@Gear Down Aviation you missed an eh at the end of your comment, eh?
Lol Pearson Dave, as a Toronto Spotter, one of the best controllers!
Hey! Thanks for PDC.
Everyone is so nice!
Andrew Kueterman Because Canadians! And even if you're not Canadian, you can "catch" Canadian niceness even with just brief exposure. 😄
Awesome explanation of PDC
Does anyone know if Dave still works at Pearson? I've been listening for him but haven't heard anything close to his voice or humor
Brilliant, "hope" their is more
Great vid and education!
Thank you!
This is funniest thing which I have ever heard on UA-cam
You can check other of my videos with this guy or just go into the FUNNY ATC playlist :)
I actually hear the Canadian accent on this guy. And I’m Canadian myself.
Ditto.
This guy is a super Canadian.
Guy almost reminds me of good old Kennedy Steve
Is it me or does it seem to be the coolest controllers are always ground controllers
Jc Dock yyz atc work all positions, ground, clearance delivery and twr, they a lot more relaxed on gnd! It’s great to hear them enjoying their jobs

It does, but in short bursts of packet, f.ex. over ACARS (quo vide).
Do you have the one of Envoy E175 engine failure after takeoff out of ORD I believe
You can search in my videos.
Don't think you have it. You should make that one next! Happened a few weeks ago! Flight 3406 out of ORD. Great videos
Should I?
I think so
air radio
What airline is 'Bluestreak' ?
PSA Airlines.
Dude probably got some massive action the night before
If you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life.
hey can someone tell me what a PDC is ?
What do they mean by "short"? Final runway?
Cristian Fernández holding short of something means, "go there, but don't enter it yet". They have hold short lines in all the necessary places on the airport, they are like the stop lines before a traffic light.
Thank you so much
Steve was better 🤣
Steve had more experience.
