Liked and subbed. Ooh, ooh, I have a 1601. 6:01 - mine has an aftermarket bracelet also - seems to be pretty good. Just picked up an actual Rolex jubilee bracelet - not many for the 1601. You say "large box" - I have three with plastic tops and little cubbyholes for the watches. ;)
Just picked up my first rolex today. Its a 1601 datejust with gold bezel, gold indices and silver dial. Paid $3600 via a local seller here in hawaii, just serviced in feb with a 1 year warranty. Couldnt pass it up at that price, still feels surreal when i look at it haha. One of my grails since i started collecting around 2017, so happy to finally own one of these pieces
Thank you for the wonderful review. That bracelet shimmers with the dial, excellent choice. I hope to find one in the future with the same combo. Cheers!
I had the same feeling worrying about being disappointed, but when I got my first Rolex the Sea Dweller 43mm, it blew my mind far beyond what I expected, to this day 3 years later I have the same feeling, I also bought the two tone Sea Dweller 43mm and a blue dial Skydweller, all are phenomenal 👌🏽, congrats on your fabulous piece !
Great watch! I reckon a jubilee-style or oyster-style bracelet from Uncle S or Forstner would really put this over the top - more solid while giving a classic Datejust look.
I have a 1982 Tudor Oysterdate 34mm, and it really is a great watch and a great size. You can dress it up with a croc strap, or dress down well on an oyster or jubilee. These are about half the price of the Rolex, and have the same case as the Rolex 1500 and Air King 34mm
Feels right to me, given the age. The issue is primarily on the cyclops, as that tends to get scuffed the quickest. Nothing a little PolyWatch can't fix.
I scratched my first vintage Rolex often. But like other post said polywatch can make it like new in just a couple minutes. Beats any sapphire glass I’ve had. They are harder to scratch but once they are scratched it’s there forever
Go back and forth on vintage vs recent datejust and you’ve really made me like this era of Rolex.

Sounds like a beauty! Good price.

Beautiful watch! I love my TT 1601
The DJ on that flatlink looks way better than the Jubilee! I hope I could get one just like yours
I have the exact same SKX J version with an oyster strap! Also, because I like Japanese products as they are really reliable (own a Lexus too)
The deal breaker for me is the recent price grow. In 12 years it went up from $2k to $5k.
If you're paying 5k you're getting scammed
Congrats!
I like 34-36mm for dress watch. More and they turn into big plates.

Ditto
Have you made that chrono review? Is it 7T32-7C60?
Yes - I have not, but I need to
How to you like plexiglass? Is it an issue in a daily life?

You gotta get the original bracelet!
The 1601 is more of a classic and less of an entry level Rolex.
