'People Will Disappear Into The Black Market' | Julia Hartley-Brewer BLASTS Migrant Crisis

  • Julia Hartley-Brewer and Marley Morris, associate director for migration at the IPPR, discussed the government's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.
Marley Morris says the Rwanda policy plans are unlikely to have a significant deterrent effect due to the scale of arrivals in the UK and the lack of clarity on what will happen to those already in the asylum backlog.
Julia Hartley-Brewer defended the plan as a necessary measure to address the ongoing migration crisis, fearing that people would otherwise disappear into the black market on their arrival into the UK.
This all comes as Rishi Sunak has acknowledged he will miss his self-imposed spring target for getting the Rwanda scheme off the ground but insisted: “We will start the flights and we will stop the boats.”
The Prime Minister said “enough is enough” and MPs and peers will sit through the night on Monday if necessary to get the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill passed.
But Mr Sunak acknowledged it will still be 10 to 12 weeks before the first plane carrying asylum seekers takes off.

We've been waiting for the boats to stop since 2016. I think it's safe to say its too effing late.

British gun boats stopping them getting into British water would not take long for the message to them

A viewer on that very same TalkTv suggested a simple solution: to send a steerer of the migrants boat to prison for 10 years. The UK police always has a video, so they would know who steers the boat. After sending a couple of them to jail, this would stop.

Why isn’t there an European migrant system (EU and UK universal database) that the UK Home Office have access to updated info on what, where, when of all migrants that seek asylum in their countries. It’s like we are starting from ground zero when likelihood is they’ve sort asylum or had dealings with the Police. Either way we need a joined up system. Why can’t we all work together. It will also help weed out the genuine asylum seekers or the reasons they need to be in UK eg. Family, etc etc. Will solve the speed of processing. Why isn’t money being invested in something like this.

Sunak has broken his promises to the British taxpayer's, true, but he has kept them to the WEF, he couldn't do both, and the WEF pay better.

Israel had a "voluntary departure" scheme for 4,000 migrant deportations with Rwanda between 2014 and 2017. Most were driven straight to the border. Almost all are thought to have left the country almost immediately, with many attempting to return to Europe via people-smuggling routes.
Rwandan homes that were previously earmarked to house migrants deported from the UK have already been sold to local buyers. the developer has said.
Some 70% of the 163 affordable homes on the Bwiza Riverside estate have been sold, the developer ADHI-Rwanda said.
On top of the £220 million Britain has already paid Rwanda, the UK government has agreed to pay an extra £150 million over the next three years, and £120 million pounds once the first 300 asylum seekers have been resettled, the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Friday 1st March 2024. Still not one person has been sent to Rwanda.

Too easy a solution for any bureaucrat, politician, or senior police officer to adopt, not enough money to be spent to allow for skimming.

Why is that young men of fighting age seem almost the only people displaced by conflict or oppression. How does that work? Where are the women, children and elderly people arriving on these boats? Yes, there are a few… but not many. Someone enlighten me please.

This is a major issue for all western countries millions are on the move. We need an international resolution. I cant believe how easily they can wander around europe and pick a country even for a little while then try somewhere else. What about modern day slavery how many are dragged into this all over the world. It makes a mockery of us standing there patiently with our passports. Most countries dont seem to be able to protect their borders. I think this will end in tears or as a German politician has suggested civil law. if we can't deport them we need to take the draw factors away no housing no benefits no education and only emergency healthcare. You can only have benefits if youve contributed for 10 yrs. Be aggressive about anyone working in the black market. The eu is just an enormous pourous border. We need to get tough. Give them nothing they are economic immigrants that doesnt mean you should be cared for under asylum laws.

The question that needs to be asked is how many Rwandans will be returning on that flight back to the UK.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, and if you think the millions we are giving to Rwanda is to look after these asylum seekers, then think again.

We are being asked by government to adopt a childlike optimism at the expense of statistical reality. Expect a continued lowering of our standards of living, the continued lowering of social trust and the continuation of ever rising crime. Mouse utopia incoming. Short of a political revolution i.e. only voting for political parties that are in touch with the realities of ordinary peoples lives, politicians that are prepared to do something about it instead of simply lining their own pockets and only taking their dictates from unelected corporate and bureaucratic resolve (W.E.F. , W.H.O., Black Rock, Vanguard etc). I shudder to think of what will become of the UK in the coming decades.

We need to stop France helping them cross the channel cause it suits them and its easier for them to get rid of their illegals this way.
This is Europe's problem and Frances problem but were being used cause they don't want them all in their country's.
We're an island ffs. We shouldn't have the problems we have with illegals. And without france helping them and escorting them across the channel. We wouldn't have the problems we do.
