Right? Especially when it's 18+ for gods sake. Villages gameplay and setting is good but compared to biohazard it just isn't scary, which is 50% why one would play them. So 50% of the game is trash. But what is good also is really good.
If you really want to make sure the videos get monetized you're going to need a system where Scoot has to raise his hand and whisper his jokes in your ear before he gets to say them out loud.

I think what people like about Village is the campy villains and inventory managing gameplay where you have to balance problem solving and limited resources.
Nobody enjoys it because “they’re easily scared by babies and little girls” or because they like “awful voice acting and motion capture.”
@@Sm0k3turt I didn’t like it as much as 7 but so much work went into the atmosphere, sound design, and characters that it easily rose above whatever other blockbuster games were out at the time.

Folks are so obsessed with the character designs and surface level elements. No fan of this game has told me why this is supposedly some kind of step forwards for the series, especially after RE7 and RE2make

2:09:10 the "+" in ammo count is usually for "+1 in the chamber" in games that go into such little details
I personally like the way HL2 did it. You see a big number representing how much you have in a mag, and then smaller representing how much spare ammo you have.
The no accents is actually a valid thing to point out because everyone from the south in 7 had a southern accent. I can only assume that people didn't know how to do a Romanian accent and they were too lazy to teach people.

I don't think they mention it, but I think the missiles in Chris's section are the 'fly-by-wire' type, like Javelin middles. They won't fire without a locked signal and need a constant signal to strike the target. So the laser targeting system needs to be in place for it to work at all. Though underground...that's just RE being RE

@@Uhcip Watching his Sekiro lets play I'm absolutely 100% confident all the people that are backseating him there are going to heaven for their incredible exercise of patience and high-pitched noise tolerance. But yeah, I'm generally just not a fan of streamers being distracted while playing video games, like, even on the best day, it'll detract from the experience somewhat.
Not that I think they should ALWAYS BE 100% FOCUSED on the game, but like, you can at least go a bit easy on the game maybe. I don't even have particularly high praise for RE8, I think it's a decent game, different in gameplay terms to RE7, but it is for sure much easier to play since it's more action-y.

For devs that say the intended difficulty is I think they understand that a majority of people needs a "normal" or easy mode because they can't play hard games. So basically if you make a hard game it cannot sell as well, and thus you don't make as much money. Also many times a studio has the input on that situation requiring devs to make a more accessible difficulties, so I think it's fair for devs to say the intended experience it not normal mode in some situations.
The scary thing as well. Which is funny because if you try to cater to everyone the end result is often sloppy and feels mediocre. People like it when devs commit, atleast that's my view.
P.T. only put out a demo and it's still considered one of the best video game horror experiences. The Res 8 devs chose to make a horror game without the horror. Kinda surprising given the series' history.

i think a huge part of why he was so harsh was because he came in expecting more of RE 7, but instead the devs took RE 8 in a different direction than he wanted (which i personally thought was fine, but to each their own)

Like, yeah, he’s ripping on it, and I enjoy this game, so this video isn’t for me, but he’s also so easily dismissive of those who enjoy it. This is kind of a thermian argument. I think the game could have been written differently for a different main character that would have been more interesting. I think the writers were trying to capitalize on the Daddy archetype that's been so popular lately. This is subjective, but I don't think that Ethan is likeable enough to pull that off.

I don't care that Ethan is important for the high school grade story this game offers. His characters sucks and his lines make me cringe. He's an absolute nobody compared to Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine and I don't care about his daughter either.

Where RE7 was one of those horror houses where people will grab you, re8 is more of a dark ride from a theme park that looks scary, but everything is make of wooden planks and in the car or boat behind you two girls are just violently making out, and you could swear there was some park attendant silently following you, watching the girls make out... not that I am speaking from experience.

honestly I understand (and honestly agree with) a lot of his criticisms and I know I'm doing the exact thing that Adam was complaining about in this video but some of his criticisms of the game were just downright whiny lol like "WHY ISNT THERE A PLUS SYMBOL INSTEAD OF A SLASH ON THE AMMO COUNTER" like what. obviously to each their own but resident evil fans literally only like resident evil because of how goofy and campy and absolutely insane it is, i feel like that one comment honestly had a reasonable point but the fact that adam was so appalled and hung up on it just felt so weird. By the end it just kinda started to feel like Adam's complaints just boiled down to "not re7 so it's not good". im not gonna act like he "doesn't understand the series/game" because this game is NOT perfect by any means, in fact I wouldn't really even consider it one of the top 5 RE games and its literally just a vidya gam but at some points his complaints just sorta got to like... game grumps levels of combative and immature, just my two cents though I still love you adam and you are free to like/dislike whatever tf you want

To be fair, most of his early complaints were with how RE:Village was compared to RE7, which as he mentioned had used it's opening hours a lot more effectively than RE:Village does. Given the fact that Village is meant to be a direct sequel to 7, you'd expect it to outdo or at the very least meet the quality of it's predecessor.

@@peribooty both have effective opening hours, but what they achieve is quite different. one is decayed southern gothic, texas chainsaw massacre style; the latter is campy, hammer horror-esque european gothic. the former is claustrophobic and latter has scale: did you not feel excited when you first gazed out over the village and saw the castle in the distance?
I like the use of whining when he is complaining about the quality of the game because you disagree and that makes his opinions less valid.
Also if a game takes more than an hour of playtime and hasn't hooked you then that doesn't reflect good on the quality of the game. If it has the power to be good. Then why not be good from start to finish?
The fact that I agree with most of Adum's criticisms of the game, yet still find it hard to be on his side just based on how constantly he whines about the same thing really sucks. Like Adum, we get it, learn to lay off eventually. You made your points, and yeah it's funny to make jokes about the stuff you don't like, but it really gets annoying when you beat a dead horse for that long. Especially since you are a horse, that just makes it disturbing.

This game is definitely a lot more fun on hard difficulty, but he's right that the normal option should have been harder. I still had a lot of fun with this game, and achievement hunting was a good time (if tedious)

Yeah, "That's not how REAL fire works!!". Ok? This is like basic video game logic 101, that I feel is only ever pointed out by people who barely play games or like reddit-tier humor to just point out videogame logic. I didn't watch the full streams but if he's complaining about the fire not being realistic, I can only assume he would have spent half an hour talking about how you can't realistically carry so many weapons, and that it's unrealistic to magically move your ammo around so you're always firing from topped off magazines instead of wasting bullets.
Which is particularly funny because I don't really know what the complaint here is meant to be from him. Games make realism concessions to make the gameplay flow better. It would suck dick if you had to manually load magazines between fights and always remember to load specific magazines first because they're topped off with ammo or whatever. And similarly it would be annoying as fuck trying to leave a burning building if you couldn't see anything because of the smoke. Like what does he want, no fire in games unless they portray it realistically? Or annoying as fuck section where you can't see shit and you're stumbling around in the smoke?
