This is really lovely! A little tip from someone who used to lay tile for a living: Remember to space your tiles to make sure you have room for your grout to go, otherwise you're just wasting grout.
I really don't understand why she didn't use the same height of tiles either. Not only does that make it difficult to grout, but it makes the board un-aesthetically pleasing, as well as just weird to play on a board with some spots raised (you can't slide your pieces when making moves).
I always have such a deep admiration for artists. that dedication to spend years working on something that others say is just a hobby, and the ability to make something beautiful from nothing is so refreshing in this world
Hi, I’m an artist. Last year when I first read your comment, I wrote what you said on the inside cover of my sketchbook. Actually, I think I wrote it in my notebooks too. You so simply captured exactly what it is that I love about creating art. Today I searched out this video because I wanted to make my own chess set (because after years of saying I’ll learn to play someday, I’ve finally started playing and I love it actually) and I ran into your comment again. It hit me between the eyes, again. And now the words mean so much more than they did a year ago. I’m 19, not in college, and still searching for my calling. Art has always been a passion of mine, and in this search for what I’m supposed to do with my life, I keep running in circles back to art. I have no idea what I want to do with my art, much less how I’m going to make a living from it, but thankfully I have the time and resources to pursue what art is to me. So that’s what I’m going to do, one step at a time. I’m going to pursue what I love, and trust that that’s where I’m supposed to be. So thank you once again for your inspiring words, friend. I will definitely be writing them in my current sketchbook. And maybe my journal too. ♥️
As a person who paints D&D minis, just wanted to say that you could avoid holding the chess pieces while painting them by placing a bit of stick tack on the bottom, and putting it on a wine cork or a bottle cap or jar cover that you can hold instead. Been v helpful to me so maybe somebody here might benefit from it.
Tip I heard from my art professor a couple years back when dealing with the tiles is soaking them in water will make the mesh disintegrate. (Though I’m not sure if all mesh is the same)
This is the most aesthetic chess set ever! Never thought about making the board out of bathroom tiles… Just think of all the other pretty colour combinations that you could make!
@@Ace_Mentura most of these can be bought at hardware stores, there’s literally no cheaper place for materials? You can also get samples of tiles in some places for free.
your craftsmanship is amazing. I usually don't watch these types of videos all the way through, but the fact that you're so creative, find a way to make the videos appealing to the eyes and ears, and how meticulous you are with all of your projects and crafts keeps me completely invested.
One time my marble chess set had a missing piece so I had to make a new castle out of clay. It doesn't look good but it really helps to complete my set. But, this chess set, you have made, gave me an inspiration. I cannot tell how thankful I am. This set looks stunning! The colors, the shapes bring it all together. I'm delighted to see this video on my home page. Thank you!
Wow, that tea at the end, what kind is that? I love you chess set, and the process of making it. So lovely. I am in Japan. The next time I go to Kyoto, I will go to 彩雲堂/Saiundō!
this is it. my favorite video. ever. nothing will top this. the hunger this gives me to make something cannot and will not be matched. beautiful. really, truly beautiful
I’m watching this video for probably the fifth or sixth time. But this time, I’m sitting in front of my newly-made tile chess board, sculpting my pieces. I went for completely different designs from you, but I hope you know this video inspired not only making my own set, but also my journey into learning chess. So thank you.
I tried doing this once! It was for my final project in my beginning ceramics class. I think doing the pieces the way you did would’ve been waaay easier than what I did. I tried making a flower chess set, and each piece took at least an hour. Maybe I’ll try it again one day with simpler designs haha.
I felt really upset today, so i watched this. It really helped me feel better. Whenever i need to calm down i enjoy your videos a lot; they’re really nice and soothing. Thank you ♥️
This is INSANELY beautiful!!! The amount of love and labor that went into it! And captured beautifully as well. Loved every bit of it. One of my fav DIYs on UA-cam ever
Hey Pear, you don’t understand how much your videos have gotten me through times of stress, and anxiety. Thank you so much for sharing your crafts and such ❤️
I loved your video, you really tempted me to go make set. Two small comments as I play chess myself: 1) the queen stands on her colour when setting up the pieces, 2) I think it is better if all the tiles are even in height. Many thanks for the video x
i absolutely adore your videos so much. i think the thing i really appreciate the most is your creativity in what you create, and your use of different materials in creative projects. it’s innovative to use these tile samples to create chess sets and in the end it created a really lovely piece and a gorgeous video. :) thank you for doing what you do
my life has been crazy lately and having the patience or attention span to fully watch youtube videos, especially ones with no voiceover, has been far from possible. that being said, this was the most peaceful video i have seen in a very long time. thank you for sharing it with us :)
When watching this video, a special feeling arises, which is expressed by warmth, comfort and something mysterious. It feels so good. Thank you very much. Now I'm in a good mood. Your work is very good. She's perfect. I see her that way.
Hi I have a few questions I am planning to make this as a gift and I’m also planing to make a ludo set. 1) how thick were the mdf boards 2)is there an alternative for the grout 3) how long did it take for you to make this Thanks soo much I are literally my fave UA-camr and you have also inspired me to do pottery and also watercolour. 🥰🥰🥰

beautiful work! have you ever thought about making resin molds? i think the clay shapes would lend themselves to that great and you could have a harder resin finish if you wanted it.. keep it up!

you know this video is really good when you just sit to watch and 17 minutes pass by in no time 🖤🖤🖤 :') this is one of the best, most relaxing, most aesthetic videos of pearfleur. everything from start to finish was so very perfect and inspiring! I just love her so much! (and her cats 🖤)
Excellent! I love it, I especially love that you made the kings and queens slightly different colors and I love your aesthetic. Just some chess related corrections: as shown in the video the board is set up incorrectly, the light square is supposed to be to near the players right hand, as you show it, it is the dark square is in that place - just rotate the board 90 degrees, also the light queen sits on a light square (correctly shown in your video) and the dark queen sits on a dark square. These may seem like small things but it does change the game dramatically when played like this. I'm sure that someone may have mentioned these before so apologies if I am not the first.
