Only dancing that could compare are the black dudes in tears for fears everybody wants to rule the world. But the dude in this film is clearly coked up into oblivion!
You are so right. I'm really thinking about getting me a serious CD collection of 1980s movie soundtracks. I already have quite a few already: Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), Dirty Dancing (1987), Top Gun (1986), The Golden Child (1986), Colors (1988), Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), To Live and Die in LA (1985), and Who's That Girl (1987).
Keta Bill is a greatly underrated talent (by the public)... She's been respected for years behind the scenes by the masters that make great music. Oh, and she's a nice person too!
Thank you for that capsule analysis of Keta Bill's career because I always wondered about her career, especially every time I watch Beverly Hills Cop II.
I like Corey Hart's version but this version by Keta Bill is on another level. I just came from Raphs, and I was listening to this song (I was watching Beverly Hills Cop II on my phone here on UA-cam and this was playing during the Playboy Mansion scene) while I was using the self-checkout machine and I was just in a zone listening to this song.
Paramount should release for the next BHC, a full CD with all titles of 4 movies including THIS version !!! and don't forget I want 2000 american express cards in 4 hours !
Netflix brought the rights to BHC IV and it's supposed to come out later this year or in 2024. And you're right, the principal cast of the movie series are old or are senior citizen aged. Look at Foley, Rosewood, and Taggart's ages. Eddie is 62, Judge Reinhold is 66, and John Ashton is 75. Trust me, BHC IV will be the last of the series.
Finally the right "Hold on" song from the movie, i don't know where the version from the soundtrack album came from but it wasn't in the movie like this version was.
@merrymarine I think the reason why Keta Bill's version of Hold On was used in the film is because the soundtrack people at Paramount Studios and MCA Records felt her version was more cinematic and that it sounded better than Corey Hart's version. Neither Keta Bill or Corey Hart were MCA artists when the movie's soundtrack went into production in 1986 or when it came out in 1987. I've studied the BHC II soundtrack since the 2000s, and I know for a fact that MCA wanted artists on that soundtrack who were hot in the 1985-1986 and early 1987 period. Hart was a Platinum (Canada) and Gold (USA) selling artist in that period. Keta Bill even though she could sing her butt off, she wasn't as hot on the hit music charts as Hart, Ready for The World, George Michael, Pebbles, Bob Seger, The Pointer Sisters, or The Jets were. That soundtrack was put together with the simple method: are you hot right now?

I bought the soundtrack back in the day, and Hold On by Keta Bill isn't on it. On the soundtrack it was sung by Corey Hart, that really pissed me off. Keta Bill never released this track to vinyl/cassette/CD. Annoying.

Bunnies everywhere!
They should make a BHC 4 already before Eddie gets to old.

You're just going to have to download it from UA-cam because this song ain't available nowhere in CD or Vinyl form.
This original song should have been included in the soundtrack album, instead of the same title by Corey Hart. The same song, but so different!
