    One hint for shooting at the range when you have the jitters: dry fire 5 or 6 times before live firing. this will settle you down a bit.

      Patricia stauffer - Thanks for your comment, found out that wearing the tight fitting mask for 2+ hours impairs breathing to the degree that oxygen deprivation reduces visual acuity and coordination...fogging of the glasses is another minor but annoying effect of the mask. Have a great day to you...

    Hi FC, I just wanted to Thank You for making all of these videos for us. I have learned a good bit from watching all of your videos.
    I've just finished watching all of your videos. That's right I mean all of them. You do make a very good teacher. I plan to start casting my own bullets my self, & that comes from watch your videos. The biggest problem for me is I'm disabled & the fact is here in Virginia it's very hard to find scrap lead of any kind & few shooting ranges & they are members only & with a high cost to join & drive of 60 miles or more & low amount of funds for said endeavor. I do have folks out on the hunt for me thou.
    Keed up the good work. Ricky F

    Man you must have the patience of a saint to wait 2.5 hours to shoot.
    I like going to the bush on the power line cuts and shoot out there. No buzzers or loud speakers.
    Just cold canadian winter maybe the odd squirrel or deer to see. 👌

    Our local range cut their price in half along with the time. They Shortened the time you can stay if there are other people waiting, but you can stay if there is no one in line.

    What do you think of using different components from all die and press manufacturers . I use a Hornady single stage press with the lock and load system with Lee dies. I just swap out the Lee lock rings for Hornady rings. And I will take the Lee factory crimp die over any other. I'm getting better at reloading thanks to your channel. Not to bad since I started with a Lee loader die set 357/ 38 special.

    Awesome videos!! I watch all 10 videos to the end. I'm new to reloading. I had a fried give me a RCBS press. He's suggestion was RCBS dies but other friends suggested Hornady or Lee. By your first 3 videos RCBS was ranked #1 but at the shooting range I'm not sure about the ranking. For a person just starting out new to game which set of dies would you start out with. Thanks for the videos and your expert advise.

    Great pistol reloading die series FortuneCookie45LC. Now it’s time for a rifle dies series 😀 . I don’t know why they have doubled the price to shoot at the range , that’s just ridiculous.

      Likely doubled the price because they can only have less than half of the normal shooters on the line. So... the profit margin stays the same, but you get to carry for the non-active lanes. That's just greedy. Everybody has had to incur extra costs, or reduced income... no reason that they should be gouging you for that time.

    Question: Would you say, if you could only pick one die set to be the "most versatile" loading cast .452 or .454, your equipment being an RCBS Rockchuker and a Dillon XL750 and using being able to work well on both machines. Would that be the Dillon 45ACP die set? It seems in watching this series that the Dillon 45acp set can load 45acp, 45lc cast, or jacketed with no problem. What a great video series. I really appreciate the information you share on the platform and any feedback you can provide on the most versatile set.

    I count myself lucky. My closest range is an outdoor, free, public range with no Overlord's thumb pressing down on its subjects. No time changes, no time restrictions. It' a cold-weather, daylight-short shooting window, now that winter has settled in to western Wisconsin, but otherwise 👍

    Nice educational video. I would like throw out a suggestion though. A while back I damaged my wrist by haging up a hole saw with a large drill. Twisted my thumb backand wrenched my wrist, and being stubborn I did it a second time minutes later. After a few weeks of healing I thought I was good to go, so I started shooting a 1911 and found after a few magazines I was not. After a visit to the doctor and xrays he put me in a wrist brace. Few more weeks of healing again I thought I was good to go. Not. But as long as I wear the wrest brace my groups are better than even before I messed my wrist up. Now I won't shoot with out it. Just for starting . And sometimes toward the end of a long session. ( getting old hurts ).
    So for those long periods between shooting sessions, try starting out using a good long wrist brace to warm up and cut down on wrist fatigue and then remove it. Or go to it when shooting longer sessions.
    Just a thought. Just don't go to the extream of depending on it.
    I've noted some old pictures of shootests back in the cowboy days wearing laced on leather wrist bans. Mabey they knew something.

    My range in PA costs $50.00 bucks a year. Has a 100 yard range 22 rim fire and center fire pistol range. All are inclosed so you can shoot in the rain or snow. And there’s a 30 minute shooting session so others can shoot without waiting for ever. 2 hours is ridiculous! I believe if I’m not mistaken that you live in CA? If so time too move my friend.

    I've been watching your channel for quite some time now... Big fan and I trust your opinion and expertise. I'm reloading .500 S&W I picked up two sets of dies lee and rcbs and neither haven a crimp die. Would you recommend the lee factory crimp .500 S&W for this application.

      Your seating die is your crimp die! Your 500S&W die set instructions may cover how to adjust, if not, the reloading manuals should explain.

      JH - Yes, indeed...it's nice capable 45 Colt ammo - good for practically any use...I had my chronograph, but the volumn of ammo to be shot vs the time limit allowed...we'll just have to chrono that load at a future date - I saved five rounds for that purpose. Have a great day...

      Leonard janda, anyone that has to worry about primers, is not a viable reloader. If people are avid reloaders, anything less than a 20000 primer supply is not acceptable.

    • @twintwo1429
      @twintwo1429 4 роки тому

      @C-Bomb my comment was for avid reloaders, and I accumulated my primers over many years. No large purchase at any one time. It's the new panic hoarding and increase in demand in general that caused the shortage. All the new gun owners want ammo too. Thanks for the compliment.

    If you are going to compare ammo based on the dies with which the cartridges were loaded, the only way to do it is to remove the shooter as a variable. This would have been more informative if a Ransom Rest had been used.

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  4 роки тому +2

      AD - You missed the point of the video, Arthur. It's going to be statistically impossible for any of us to determine the "best" die set brands - components and guns vary greatly. Before there was use of even sandbags (much less Ranspm Rests), shooters knew by calling their shots if the ammo / gun was good. We're just looking at the various dies producing good safe reliable accurate ammo within the use of most hand gunners. And this series was comparative only to benefit existing reloaders using their favorite dies as well as new reloaders getting into the market. Have a great day, Steve

    Odd... The WHO says 1 meter or 39" between people. How close are the centers of those shooting lanes ? of
    It seems shooting is by nature a COVID Safe activity.
    Indoor ranges have 100% exhaust ventilation away from shooters so they are also safe.
    Your being upset was clear in your early shots. It did work out and resolve itself. Normally we get fatigued and accuracy drops.
    The dies really do not create the accuracy. Hard for some to accept. Sure a Ransom rest would have been interesting but who goes to the range to shoot a Ransom rest ? How does the same shooter shoot them is what is interesting. No real failure was shown in any of them. The load, the gun, and the shooter showed consistency.
    Hope you and yours are doing well off the range.
    Looks like you enjoyed your day.
    Happy Trails !
