hi Stephanie I am so sorry you have received this diagnosis please email us on vicky@everylifecounts.ie and we can offer you lots of different supports. sending you love x
I had such a child, carried full term. Never got to meet him. Back in the day, 50 years ago, they didn't want the mother to see a child like this. He lived 2 days. My one and only child.
Bless your sweet baby. She only knew love...her whole life was being loved. No pain, no disappointments, no heartbreak. What a beautiful life to have. She mattered.
Absence of a brain - or at least absence of the frontal lobe, means these babies don’t feel anything. Deciding to carry full term is a comfort to the parents, and that is understandable. Seems most of the people who make the decision not to abort are religious. It’s very sad, I don’t think I could do it.
@@geslinam9703 I support whatever choice a woman makes...but for me, I don't think I would carry to full term. These babies have no higher brain. There's not even a place to PUT a frontal lobe. Without that there is nothing but seizure activity & reflex movements coming from the misfirings of a dying brainstem. These people who carry to term believe these babies "feel" things yet they sort of skip over the fact that if they DID feel anything they would be feeling their brainstem being dissolved by acidic amniotic fluid every day they are in the womb. That's why these babies seem so "active". They flail & kick violently because their brainstems are slowly being destroyed. They also bang their exposed brainstems on the walls of the uterus causing seizures in the womb. Once born they die as their brainstems give out. As it becomes weaker the lungs fill with fluid & they literally drown. NOT something I'd want to watch. That & all the abnormal twitching these babies display if they're born alive. The baby in this video was doing plenty of that. I guess as first time parents they didn't realize how abnormal this baby's behavior was. But hey, to each their own. I just feel God would understand completely sending a baby who has formed no real brain back to Heaven early. There are no good outcomes here..it is what it is & torturing yourself over "losing" a baby with no brain seems so unnecessary to me.
TK Ryzon well said. There is a video here on YT where the parents document the few hours the baby lived after birth, and it’s death, as if it were a beautiful thing...but you could see it gasping for air and the only blessing was that it wasn’t aware of what it was going through - but it was very unpleasant to watch. The fact that this one lived for 15 days has everything to with advances in medicine, not miracles. But, having them brings comfort to the parents and families, and even if they are in denial, as you said, to each his own. As I mentioned above, they are usually religious, and I guess believe more in the spirit of their child, and so disregard the science. I don’t have that kind of faith, I just believe that occasionally nature screws up, and usually babies like this are miscarried early on...some can obviously make it to the end...but with a definite dx like this, I would also most likely abort. I’m thankful I’ve never been in such a position.
Geslina M I know you are correct, and have no doubt. I am grateful that I never was faced with such a difficult, tragic event. I do know, however, that the decision would be easy: terminate. Carrying an anencephalic is a hopeless situation and the compassionate thing for all involved, especially the non-sentient foetus, is to terminate. Mourn the loss of the dream of an intact baby, grieve as long as you must, then move on. When a human has no brain activity/ no brain, is it really alive? Isn’t that when life support is terminated, when there is no brain activity?
Liberty Hussein good point. But a lot of people feel differently about babies than they do about, say, an older person who is in the same position, who for whatever reason has no brain activity. I am, however, happy we at least have the choice, whether it be to deliver or to terminate.
Just think what it will be like to hold that precious, perfect baby girl in your Mama's arms in heaven for all eternity. It's a heavy burden to bear now, but the reward will be great, indeed. God bless you ❤️
I lost six babies before I had my son who is now 17. I am so glad you got to meet and know her, and that your family got to meet her. My heart goes out to you x
Why does your god do this to infants in the first place? Why does he allow babies to not develop the entire frontal section of the brain so that they will inevitably suffer and die and cause their parents horrific loss and suffering? Baffling.
