nope they will most likely pull on it and not enough staff to even help them, thx for talking about EVERYTHING
both of my parents are aging at home.what works for us was and still is keeping portable toilets in every corner of the house. We keep them clean at all times and it works. When my dad was passing I simply handed him the pee bottle in bed.

At stage 5/6, with only my husband & myself at home, it works well for us to have handled plastic cups in multiple rooms, including bedside. When he has the urge, he will use them (usually with my help). I encourage him to use 1 hand for balance & other to hold his shirt front up - I do the rest. He wears a brief 24/7 for dribbles & occasional ‘accident’. Then I just have the cups to empty out. Also LOVE folder paper napkins by cups, for those dribbles 😅
(Thanks Teepa, for all your valuable, informative videos ❤)

My husband with Alzheimers in Memory Care, prob stage 6, can pee ok, but because of loose stool, can't get to toilet in time. Working on fixing ongoing problem with metamucil and immodium, but did learn he WILL NOT wear depends. So these two points are probably 2 shows. Thanks for your perseverence in solving all of these issues❤

If you know your patient's well enough you know when they need to go , usually. You may still have accidents. . Sometimes they just can not empty their bladder completely even when you do take them to the bathroom regularly.

In the beginning he started wetting his pants in the middle of the grocery store. I'd parked the cart and head home. And It is true that when he tells you he has to go it's because he IS Going!
I bought More underpants but before I even used them I realized I should be buying overnight diaper pull-ups. I also could not get him to wear them, right up until my daughter-in-law said get rid of the underpants and only offer the pull-ups.
    It worked !!
And if he pee'd in those overnight diapers it really held a lot of accidents throughout the day.
5 months later (just this week) I began to notice he wasn't even bothering to head to the toilet. The diaper was always heavy with urine. He was still going to the bathroom to poop but wasn't very good at wiping. And he hates when I take over that job. As well do I.
But what are you going to do. And now I'm dreading the thought of him pooping IN the diaper someday.
I also have been pursuing the VA (Vets) to see what benefits they can offer us. One thing is, I got my first box of heavy duty Pull-Ups that I can have shipped at N/C which is a blessing since pull-ups are very expensive. Plus they will supply these blue protection pads for furniture or changing (I assume) and thin rubber gloves for the caretaker.
They offer an amazing amount of free or discounted assistance. Definitely a godsend and altho' overwhelming... worth the effort to investigate. So don't put that off if available to you. There is alot of departments and avenues to pursue.
