    Yes, the new 2025 spec have 19.5 KWh batteries, the cold does affect the range but currently driving in my hilly commute the guess-o-meter is showing 45 miles. Adaptive suspension is a must and I specced normal tyres rather than runflats. My new car G21 Lci2 is frankly everything I could want.

    Well thought out video. Ive had mine for about a year and a half put about 25k miles since purchase. Touch wood nothing had to be replaced bar a set of tyres and regular servicing. I tend to change my oil every 10k to err on the side of caution. Have a look at tuning as you seem to have the model where it can be tuned without too much fuss. Mine is a custom tune via a dyno and it hasn’t missed a beat. If you won the engine lottery you could have the 330i variant of the 2L B48 which unlocks even more potential.. sorry for the waffle. Great video!

    These only make sense if one has the ability to charge at home and if one does very many short journeys. They have all the normal excellent 3 Series traits along with being very good-looking cars. However, I found it to be very compromised with regards to the engine. I had range anxiety and found that if one pressed on, the mpg were nothing to write home about. I think it would probably have been over your budget, but the M340d is head and shoulders above this as an everyday car. Sound, ride and performance are far superior and I got over 50mg on a run to Scotland. The 700nm of torque are quite addictive.

    • @WiseTorque
      @WiseTorque  2 місяці тому +3

      Agreed, its a great car... for the right person. If you do high miles and long journeys then a diesel it is.

    • @noahmcdaniel4920
      @noahmcdaniel4920 Місяць тому

      Nonsense about short journeys. You get a whopping 60 miles at the efficiency of an EV every damn day. That’s a ton of miles, and even you drive much more than that, you’d need to be driving like 300+ miles a day before the m340d would become more economical, at $12k more before incentives.
      And if you only got 50 mpg in your m340d that’s not even better than the 330e… I average 40-45 in my 2021 in American mpg which is well over 50 in the UK…

      @@noahmcdaniel4920 I have no interest in an EV so driving in EV mode isn't for me. You seem to misunderstand the point of my comment. This isn't purely about economy as you seem to have perceived. It's about the overall experience and driving enjoyment that a good BMW can bring. The excellent economy of the 6-cylinder M340d is a bonus. If you're that economy focussed, and the other traits don't concern you, don't buy a BMW.

      @@resnonverba137 🤦🏻‍♂️ you literally said they don’t make sense unless you make short journeys. One can only interpret that statement to be about fuel economy.
      As for being economically minded and buying a BMW, my 330e saves me about $2k a year on fuel compared to the Mazda 3 it replaced, and I only drive about 40% of my miles in EV mode so it could be much more efficient. I also bought it at about 40% of its original MSRP after the tax credit with a CPO warranty when it was only 3 years old, so the depreciation between it and the Mazda will not be significant. The overall ownership costs between it and my Mazda should be similar if not favor the BMW. Tell me again why I shouldn’t have bought the BMW if I cared about being economical. Should you also not buy a Mazda 3 if you care about being economical?
      The 330e is a phenomenal opportunity to get into a BMW without breaking the bank. Fuel is a car’s biggest expense, and that’s even more true in Europe where fuel prices are higher compared to America where I live.

      @@noahmcdaniel4920 I appreciate your insight as I am looking to buy a 330e, I will be doing short drives for the most part with a longer drive here and there (rarely over 300km) and I do want that peace of mind to be able to drive as far as I want even though it may not be as fuel effecient due to the dead weight of the battery. I am sure the short drives on hybrid or ev mode will make it very worth despite the long drives here and there. I do also want the possibility to feel and experience an engine and it doesn't seem to disappoint from what I have seen.

    Hi mate, sorry to bother but I was thinking of buying a 330e 202 too, the only thing that stops me is the fact that I have never driven it. On paper it is not bad, it has 292 hp 420nm even if it weighs a bit. but that does not matter, it has a remarkable potential. the only thing that scares me is the driving, because I would like an everyday car but also a car that behaves quite well on the curves and that is a bit sporty. I do not pretend that it is a go-kart but if you could compare it with a car what would you say? It is worth getting a family car like this and that at the same time gives you a bit of sporty emotions (with the m-sport package)

But still has a petrol option when I do go outside to meet friends or on a road-trip. The car rarely sees a petrol station, it's really great. Different cars for different lifestyles. What is your driving demands? If there’s anywhere you frequently visit (store, restaurant, work, etc) that you can fast charge it, you’re still gonna get great economy out of it even if you don’t drive it electric as much as people who charge it at home. Especially if you only drive say 100-200 miles a week… Give it a charge once a week and you’ll cover ~60 of those miles. Takes 2 hours to charge with the fastest charger.

      @@asitkumarmohanty2579 The car was bought on a whim and has now moved on. If your reason for purchasing is for tax reasons, you could do a lot worse. However, I would be very cautious as you can't charge from home. The 3-Series is an excellent car and one I would generally recommend to anyone. The issue with this variant for me was the compromised engine. I remember a very futuristic electronic noise under hard acceleration in Sport that no-one else ever seems to mention. Perhaps they are all pootling along to save on the mpg...I'm pretty sure it dropped well below 35mpg at times.

    Mind boggling to me how many people don’t seem to understand these PHEV’s and think they’re niche vehicles… It obviously depends on your local gas and electricity prices, but you’re getting a whopping 60 miles a day at the efficiency of an EV. You’re not better off with a 340d unless you’re driving hundreds of miles a day…
    Even then if the 2025 330e is anything like my 2021 in the states, the mpg estimates are way off and seem to be measuring it when the battery is drained and the engine is attempting to charge it… I can easily average over 40 mpg on the highway in mine indefinitely, which is the equivalent of over 50 mpg in UK gallons.
    And by the way, the m340d is like 25% more expensive BEFORE incentives. And didn’t they just phase it out of many markets? Regardless, people are skeptical of hybrid reliability, I feel just the opposite… Almost every country has remarkable battery warranties now. This isn’t 2008 - hybrid/EV batteries are known to last a very long time. But the reason I feel strongly about PHEV reliability is because you’re splitting the wear and tear between two powertrains. If you’re driving half your miles in each mode, a car with 120k miles is lightly used in all but the suspension and transmission… Especially in these BMW PHEV’s that don’t use much electric motor/battery in their “hybrid” modes.
