It's insane that they expect us to still use a piece of paper to set Z on a $500 printer in 2024... Seriously guys. EVERY company gets really close, then drops the ball.

Thanks for your Informative video, I love the artillery machines, I have a Sidewinder X1 and a Genius here (first models).
Since it has an all metal hot end and can print large format things, I would love to print custom car parts on the machine, made from materials like PC-plus or NGEN.

I like the addition of the stabilization rods and the Spring steel plate ....but everything else. They added messes it up. The X2 was almost perfect if they had added those 2 features and a full metal hot end...... This is way more messy than their previous printers........ That cable system is absolute clusterf#@%...... I have an x one and couple of their x twos and they are way cleaner designs....... I do not know why everybody always b****** about the printer cables. That's what printer cables were made for.
Never had an issue with those...... Really hope they go back to their original designs. So much more elegant and once the x two was dialed in works great There's still not a fan of the access plastic at the top for the spool holder little wonky......but other than that...... This seems like a major step in the wrong direction.😤

Hi, like the video. Two hints, you might want to check that the z-axis is perpendicular to the bed with a large carpenter's square or maybe a shelf... The printer's design has excellent adjusting abilities. If it is skev you'll notice in higher prints.
Second, you may want to increase first layer's nozzle % print volume perhaps going from like 100 to 103 or so. Considering the bed has such rough texture it consumed more filament and your calibration was probably very good.
If I had this printer I would be printing helmets and a few large vases in pla silk.

I just bought one. I've been using a Makerfarm from 2014 upgraded to an I3V and completely modded with a bed size of 180mm X, 190mm Y and 375 Z. I had it printing really good but it finally broke again and I'm tired of always working on it. The Sidewinder is going to be like moving into the space age directly from the stone age. Even the downsides of it are going to be upgrades for me.

Thinking about replacing my Sovol SV01 with something like this. What would I print? All the things! Well, maybe not all the Thangs or Things on Thingiverse, but this would definately help with the parts that won't fit on my Neptune 4 Pro, and would replace my SV01 for sure (a little long in the tooth there).

I will print my projects to have a better quality and to optimize the print time.
I’m 20, after high school I worked for one year and then I started studying again.
Thinking about future I didn’t really know what to do, but I really love 3d printer.
It’s like 1 month that I started selling some of my prints (of mine project), now I need another 3d printer because It will help me a lot :)

Hello, I have the printer home... But the Slicer is verry bad. The settings are to low Speed and not much optimize and when I put the speeds up like you have in your video I get over extrusion with small parts and the nozzle scratches verry much over the printed surface. So much that the nozzle shoot the parts from the magnet plate.
Can you post/show your setups I think you have much more experience with printer at all... Thank you very much!

    Buenos dias ,

Thanks for this thorough video. Just last week, I gave away my Sidewinder X1 v4 to a young fella not far from my home, because he is interested in learning more about 3D printing. That means I have a vacant spot on my workbench now and need to put a good printer in that space.
As soon as I get my new printer in place, I will be pulling a whole bunch of filament through that machine, because I have some project requests stacked up to make for other people. I'm a woodworker (retired Industrial Arts teacher), so several of my woodworking friends need some jigs that are "naturals" for the 3D printer. Also, I'll be making some PLA-printed labels to go onto some boxes that are being used for planters...and a whole bunch of tags for my friends who are gardeners, so they need labels for their seed starting ventures, as well as labels to use for plants they make for the farmer's market. Yep, that'll keep this fella really busy. Many of the things I make are efforts to complement and improve several efforts going on in my city.. Lots and lots of "plastic" labels have been asked for. So, it will be my pleasure to crank those out for my community.

How do you think the X4 Plus would do with solid bed mounts? I do not get along well with manual bed leveling. Is Klipper the full deal? Can one get in and tinker with Klipper settings? I love the bed size, display, and speed. I would be printing robot, robotics, mechatronics, and functional parts for myself. I need to print some Multiboards and such for my tiny studio apartment so I can have all my parts within easy reach.

Pretty made review. A teardown would have been from interest for me, somehow. What I would print first? An inlay for my tool drawer, constructed matching with the tools. To store my tools in a orderly way. After that: Casings for my electronic projects, models (X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, Gunstar, Eagle, Star-Fury) and random stuff for the household would be on the list.

  • @l0udPL

I like the fact that z-axis has supports, which were missing with very popular X2 model. But it's too bad manufacturers are still staying with "screws at the bottom" frame mounting system. I saw on Sovol S06+ it's done better and it's stiff even without supports. Anyway on that printer I would print many enclosures for my electronics projects as it seem to be good on solid walls.
