- In 2011, when I was 12, I got my first laptop. On that laptop I ended up earning some Bitcoin. Did I know what Bitcoin was back then? No. Do I know what it is now? Not really. But what I do know is I had some Bitcoin sitting in a wallet stuck on a laptop that no longer turned on. In May of 2021, my Dad and I removed the hard drive from my old laptop and bought a cable that would make it possible for me to connect that hard drive to my current computer. I was able to find 2 wallet.dat files on the old hard drive and import them into Bitcoin Core to see how much Bitcoin I had mined all those years ago. PS. My first Bitcoin transaction was from August 7th 2014, and my last transaction was on June 27th 2015; I had 57 transactions total. So I mined for 10 months and made $550 - $650 (depending on the days market value), and only having 57 transactions means I was averaging $9.65 - $11.40 per transaction. Not too shabby.

What was the make/model of your first laptop?

I still have my first laptop and it still works. I have an HP 6730b. To put it into context it has a Windows VISTA sticker on it! I run Windows XP on it and have the network card removed so it is for offline gaming only.
I am happy for you that you could make a difference on you own life and still make a video that opens the eyes of the entire world about the hidden wealth that others might find on their hard drive you were and i can say your smight.

I mined bitcoin 2017 and never know where and how its doing. I cannot even track it because i change my cellphone number and the phone. That means i have lost my childrens wealth.😢😢😢

@@OliviaHenry To Answer your question about converting it to cash. I'd set up something like Uphold on your phone and then send your BTC to yout new address and then from the app convert to cash in checking account. That's it. Great video!
Your BTC's current value depends on what it's value was when you mined it. It should be worth a lot more than $500. Well made video btw, very good job explaining everything. Well lit, great editing. Awesome job
I'm not sure if when you mined the bitcoin determines its current value; but then again, I don't know much about bitcoin. The way I see it, bitcoin is like any other currency. For example, today 1 Jamaican dollar is equivalent to 1¢ Canadian, but in the 1960s the Jamaican dollar was equivalent to the Canadian dollar; $1CAD = $1JA. So if I had 1 Jamaican dollar from the 1960s, it's still only worth $0.01CAD today; it doesn't matter that that specific piece of money was created in the 1960s. Does that may sense? So I have 0.01BTC, which at the time of filming was equivalent to $500CAD, but as of a few days ago it's worth over $900CAD; it fluctuates based on the strength of the currency, at least that's the way I understand it.

that's not true at all if when you mined it you had one Bitcoin then, say BTC worth $0.13 you still have one Bitcoin today and it's worth whatever the price today 1 Bitcoin the first aid Bitcoin came out is still one Bitcoin today but worth a hell of a lot more
