    Lose the trolley. They know you are gonna resell them. I only carry a backpack with me, I see some resellers with the trolley and the sellers are firm on the price. If they think you are just a fella looking for some stuff for yourself they are willing to give a little.

      Biggest tip I ever had was to tell people what you are doing, they are there to sell things at the end of the day.
      The lady selling the 2 pairs of Nikes asked if George was into sports stuff. She could have had a boot full of sportswear. But if you give the old “I don’t know until I see it” she might not even bother 🤷🏻
      Not being critical of yourself or GR... just another way to look at it.

      @@billyshears40 I get what your saying. I'm only speaking from my experience. I seen it first hand on Sunday . A guy with a trolly full of stuff , asked after a pair of football boots , the seller was strong on 10 quid.. would not budge. I went back twenty minutes later and seen them selling for 7. But I do get what your saying

    If you're buying multiple items from the same seller; rather than offering them a price - ask them what they would do if you took multiple items. Several advantages of this approach.. The seller doesn't know which of the items are you most interested in, so you instantly get the advantage. Its much less 'aggressive' than 'Would you take' so pushes the seller from a position of 'I need to defend my prices' into 'how can I tempt this person to buy more'. They may come back with a lower combined price than you were thinking; if not, you can still make a lower offer which the seller will be more psychologically prepared for. If they say no, you can play the: "Ok, I'll just take this one.." trick which may prompt some sellers remorse into backing down and finally, if there's no negotiation and you just take one item; it gives you the option to come back later in the day with 'I bought x from you earlier - would you take y for this item..'

    I just think the price people quote is really cheap most of the time so I find it annoying when people try barter me down from the cheap price I already have given. Especially when people will resell it for a good profit. People expect things for pennies at car boots!

    • @BarryManatee
      @BarryManatee 3 роки тому +11

      EXACTLY. None of the prices asked were out of order at all. £65 Timberlands for £15. That's less than 1/4 of the retail price, and they're in good nick, so why expect it to be even more of a bargain? That's called greed. Double or triple your money and be happy! This attitude of "ooooh it HAS to be £15" is so entitled. Yeah it bloody does and it's a bargain already. Haggle when it's too much, not on every single item, because you just come across like a chancer. People don't like chancers.

      @@Albert12893 My point was why get pissy if someone insists on a price? It's their right to do that, and in this case it worked so fair play to them. It's obvious that they may reduce later on if they get desparate, but why would they let the first guy to ask about the item have 1/3 off? Not sure what you're disagreeing with really. My point is about the attitude that you're owed a massive reduction just because you ask. You ain't. Fact.

    I think your technique/ approach is fine as it's so quick. You waste no time bartering if something is underpriced, walk away if it's very over priced and ask for reasonable deals i.e the £10 & £15 pairs for £20. The time you save by not scrimping over a couple of quid allows you to get more items which likely nets you more than you'd save by discounts.

  • @johnpearson6232
    @johnpearson6232 3 роки тому +8

    Ok, So I have being a delboy for many years. As soon as they tell you the price you make it clear that they're asking far too much. The next thing is whenever if ever you are selling anything at all, You tell the customer YOU can have it (whatever it is) for whatever price it is. The customer then gets a sense of love so to speak, They start to think that they're special because you said YOU they think that that special price and deal only applies to them. Also whenever anyone comes near your stall spark a conversation, I do it all the time 9times out of 10 i hit a sale, Even if its only £2 its still a sale and 10 of them per hour soon adds up to a good amount at the end of the day.

Also with thing like the dvd player you can tell my the stall he doesnt care about anything, you could have offered hium £2 and he would have happily took it. Where you save £1 whether its on the £10 item or £3 shouldnt make a difference, its all extra profit :)

    Don't be afraid to walk away, people are usually afraid of losing a sale, if it's too high a price for you then it's probably too high for a lot of people and it may very well still be there on your second go round when they'll be more inclined to drop the price.

    How do we get to the market from Peckham

    To be it’s the seller attitude that is all wrong, if they want £15 why don’t they start at £20 gives round to negotiate. Why do they always feel need to give you the life story ie I paid £75 brand new, hardly worn etc. On eBay I always have best offers if I want £20 not going to list for £20 list for £25 gives you round to negotiate you get price you wanted and buyer thinks they have got a deal everyone is a winner. I started reselling January 2021, I’ve walked away from some deal on marketplace/ Shpock because of seller attitude if I was at a car boot and wasn’t given that attitude you was I wouldn’t buy and they would get told. A car boot is meant to be fun have a little haggle etc
