Hi Kelsey I have this and you should turn off before take it down from the hair if that make sense like you should grab the hair section, then go as you did but when you’re about to finish you can turn it to the cold heat to make it last more time but always before taking the hair section out you need to stop playing and just then take the barrel down , jut thought you’d like to know! Enjoy this ,I use it for almost two years now and it’s really is a life changing
