"He will join us or die, Master" "Don't make me destroy you" "If you will not fight, then you will meet your destiny." Vader ideally wants for Luke to join him and overthrow the Emperor, *BUT* if that can't be achieved then Luke is a threat that needs to be removed. Vader clearly doesn't wish that, but he will do what must be done. It's the whole reason why he slinks back to Palpatine's side while he is electrocuting Luke, before his change of heart. So Vader being conflicted is considered breaking the lore? He was torn between serving Palpatine and wanting to kill the good in Luke by making him evil. Hell him putting he pieces in place with Obi Wan makes sense as he said in ROTJ in regards to Leia also applies to Luke as well. I don’t know why Vader has to act like a caveman in terms of keeping the lore right but it makes more sense that you wanting Younglings butchered on screen.
@@armaniwebb4467 He was kinda doing both since at one hand he wanted Sidious dead while still having to serve under him to avoid getting killed but he still wanted Luke to be evil like him and rule the Empire together.
@@achaudhari101 sidious can't defeat Vader. Vader simply is pretending to join him again so that he can learn the power of exegol. I believe Vader simply wants to find luke again to ask him to join, sidious can read his mind so in his mind he is pretending he hates luke
Maybe what he meant by “Luke skywalker must die” is that he wants to destroy the light side version of Luke and turn him into a Sith and only go by a Darth whatever name kinda like how he killed anakin and became Darth Vader.
It was revealed in Lords of the Sith and several canon reference books that Vader's new limbs were wired together with a neural interface that connects through his spine. Along with a lot of his life support systems, Vader's 'cybernetics are intricately linked with his body and designed to work a single unit.
I don’t think they’re changing anything. I think Vader just didn’t know. Also, I think Vaders new feelings of hopelessness probably has him thinking emotionally (temporarily) that he has to kill his son.
I always thought Obi-Wan meant that he knew he had to sacrifice himself to 1) get Vader’s defenses down because he doesn’t think there’s any strong Jedi left and 2) inspire Luke to devote himself to his Jedi studies absolutely, which wouldn’t have happened if he weren’t emotionally crushed by Obi-Wan’s death.
The comic is really good... But I agree I don´t like them changing the story, Vader NEVER wanted to kill Luke, he wanted Luke to Join him in the Dark Side, kill the Emperor and rule the galaxy as Father and Son.
What do you mean they're incorporating "too much" from the sequel trilogy? Of course they are, it's there story. Did you think they weren't going to acknowledge it in their other works? @@achaudhari101 I'm in slight agreement. Legends did the same. But there is one big difference. Legends was made mostly of a bunch of people not coordinating together and making their own stop, and that's why everything got so jumbled than messy. That was why in 1 comic Luke was preachy and the embodiment of 'no you're wrong and let me tell you why', and in another he's the most understanding man you've met. But this is Disney, so long as they work together and put together some common personality traits for characters and people should act, they would be able to keep continuity like no one else. They can make something better. But they know they don't have to. So they won't. That's the issue. The lack of effort.
I believe that the part where he took obi wans last words and interpreted them as involving Luke was more of Vader’s personal conclusion on the matter, than a statement of fact about the universe. vader wouldn’t have known about obi wan becoming a force ghost, I’m pretty sure obi wan only appeared to vader following their final duel in a legends comic Edit: I commented before listening to the next 10 seconds where you basically say what I just said, my bad 🤦🏻♂️

Theory vids nowadays: George Lucas this Dave Filoni that. Honestly - yes they have defined what classic and modern Star Wars are but don't put them on auch a pedestal. They made mistakes, too, and Filoni is working with a large team of talented people. He might have a lot of influence on certain decisions but he doesn't come up with everything.
Used to love this channel but its kinda just a george lucas- dave filoni circlejerk these days. I mean I get that the new trilogy didn't do it for him but it kinda leaves him stuck in the past. Especially when all the new content is just supplemental to the first 2 trilogies... idk I feel like this channel (and star wars as a whole), is kinda running in a redundant loop. If that makes any sense. And he just seems to reject anything new at this point. Like even the high republic seemed to repulse theory.
@@erikbrenner5138 I agree, he seems to automatically hate anything connected with the sequels or trying to link with it, which doesn’t make sense to me. @@erikbrenner5138 And the High Republic is good too. A lot of the upcoming content sounds promising but he always has to find something to complain about.
For Vader's interpretation the whole strike you down comment, both can be true. Obi-wan became more powerful because he became an immortal ghost that could guide Luke who would eventually defeat Vader. So what the comic said was true...from a certain point of view.
I still think this series should have ended after the Amidala stuff wrapped up but I guess if people are on board for the War of the Bounty Hunters storyline they will keep reading. I will review the IG-88 one-shot
Changing anything about Vader’s suit is crazy. Vader’s suit being hacked is just as lame as time travel In Star Wars. Luke has to die? What? Also Vader is being made to look uncertain and have all these vulnerabilities but that goes against everything that he was in the first place. He was supposed to be kinda like Michael Myers, this unstoppable force of nature. Now he’s almost getting killed in every comic. They’re changing stuff little by little.
In the "Star Wars" comic, Luke has yet to formulate any plan or tought to "save his father". I am not as negative to 2020 series as you are but yes, the 2017 series was better.
It's so obvious that SW is in the hands of people that do not love, know and understand SW. So sad. It's in the hands of people hired *specifically* to treat it not as a piece of history at this point, but as a product through and through.
this isn't the same as the horrible into the fire arc, charles soule also worked on this one, and all of war of the bounty hunters have been pretty good so far
My opinion on the new Vader comics is that they offer some cool spectacle, but they only serve to harm the overall star wars lore. So it's even more Disney content that will not be going in my headcanon.

He wasn't conflicted, he is playing mind games with sodious.
@@armaniwebb4467 Ummm, yes he can. The previous arc clearly showed this. Sidious>Vader.
Maybe what he meant by “Luke skywalker must die” is that he wants to destroy the light side version of Luke and turn him into a Sith and only go by a Darth whatever name kinda like how he killed anakin and became Darth Vader.
I always thought Vader controlled his mechanical limbs with his remaining nerves, not his chest box thing.
Yea like how anikan and luke didn’t wear chest boxes to control their mechanical limbs.
It was revealed in Lords of the Sith and several canon reference books that Vader's new limbs were wired together with a neural interface that connects through his spine. Along with a lot of his life support systems, Vader's 'cybernetics are intricately linked with his body and designed to work a single unit.
@@thewarner2139 so the chest box controlling thing makes sense
Great breakdown man.
I don’t think they’re changing anything. I think Vader just didn’t know. Also, I think Vaders new feelings of hopelessness probably has him thinking emotionally (temporarily) that he has to kill his son.
Keep in mind Vader was still conflicted so of course he would feel as if Obi Wan hid Luke from him like he said in the movie.
@@achaudhari101 exactly! Basically, Vader’s head is spinning rn with all sorts of emotions.
You need to cover war of the bounty hunters comics they are awesome and the most recent issues ending is amazing
“I will not be denied”
Never thought I’d ever see a ripped Jabba the Hut…
8:45 one of the ig88’s looks like he’s smiling
I'm curious about the "code" for his chest plate. First I've heard of something like that. Very difficult to retrieve, if such a thing existed
palpatine should have used the code in return of the jedi.
@@Mark-dd6vx if he wasn't so blinded by want to kill Luke
Wow, I hope we get to see more of IG-88 and that Boku has to be the most jacked Hutt I have ever seen in Star Wars ever!😱
The 2017 comic was a true masterpiece
This one is enjoyable for the first two arcs on naboo
The comic is really good... But I agree I don´t like them changing the story, Vader NEVER wanted to kill Luke, he wanted Luke to Join him in the Dark Side, kill the Emperor and rule the galaxy as Father and Son.
What do you mean they're incorporating "too much" from the sequel trilogy? Of course they are, it's there story. Did you think they weren't going to acknowledge it in their other works? Yeah it's not what Lucas envisioned, but he's not writing the stories anymore, they are. You can't expect them to not show it just because it's different from what was before.
Exacly
Yeah, I don't get why he would say that "Legends is more canon in my head" if those stories were not Lucas' vision either.
I completely agree with your opinion at the end!
When he said Luke must die, I think that's just relaying what Sidious wants.
i like the change of the obi wan's line because the first thing he does is he helps Luke so in my mind (In my head canon.) it makes scenes
Genaral Theory as I have said before I will always support you and give this a like because all of your work, But as you said it feels weird to hear Vader want to kill Luke so anything to do with sequel's or something like that..Not for me You Rock Brother
That’s how a sith thinks. He needs to kill Luke. Of course, we know he wouldn’t be able to do it. Theory is just a general at complaining.
I was kinda hoping to see more connections with the Droid Gotra with IG-88 and 4-Lom
They're trying to hard to make the sequel make sense.
Question: does any media like films and television exist in the star wars galaxy? Do they also have their own internet and meme culture?
I dont know of any meme culture in the star wars galaxy, but the holonet does exist which is the star wars equivalent of the internet. So maybe
The closest thing to an internet meme in unuverse is that “all of darth vaders mechanical parts” song that got super popular and pissed the sith lord off so much be banished the band who made it to a hellish mining planet with very low life expectancy rates where they all died.
In legends films did. Wedges sister was an actress who was married to Soontir Fel. Although I could be misremembering that.
Your comment is an island among a sea of arguing and I appreciate it.
Another great video, as usual.
I’m glad I didn’t get these comics. Thanks Theory, I love your reviews.
I mean Vader did say to the Emperor that Luke will join them or die.
These new comics feel so wrong and dirty. They try to stuff so much in and end up breaking the lore. Kinda disappointing.
I agree about the 2017 comics though. They were great
And Legends didn’t? What are you expecting here exactly?
@@achaudhari101 The good stuff of legends didnt, the bad stuff did, just like the good and bad disney stuff
@@achaudhari101 some things did, but what's the point of retconning all of that lore if you're just gonna do the same thing it did?
@@dakotatrue12 And the thing with the retcons are, is that it happens with certain segments, not the actual medium itself.
They're trying to reboot the original movies. Sacrilege.
No.
@@achaudhari101 stop defending garbage, Alex, even Thor doesn't care
We’re not on Thor’s channel. Not a valid point.
@@goodmind4940 its not garbage
Reboot? I don't think you know what the word means.
I believe that the part where he took obi wans last words and interpreted them as involving Luke was more of Vader’s personal conclusion on the matter, than a statement of fact about the universe. vader wouldn’t have known about obi wan becoming a force ghost, I’m pretty sure obi wan only appeared to vader following their final duel in a legends comic
Edit: I commented before listening to the next 10 seconds where you basically say what I just said, my bad 🤦🏻♂️
The end scene is the dark brotherhood. 😂
Dash rendar kills one, boba kills one, one hacks the death star and blows up with its destruction, and the other one wasnt explained if im not mistaken.
I really do enjoy how you cover these comics and your thoughts on them.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good video
so fluffed up Jabba is a thing now? Oh my he even get cute blue eyes now???
Vader "you underestimate my power"
Totally agree.
(2:33) I’m sure that’s why he’s saying that. He just doesn’t understand it.
Lmao @ "brakka brakka brakka" for ig88s blasters.
Did they forget those are blasters not machine guns??
They are making it like the Avengers comics where you have to be reading multiple comics at the same time to get all the of the story
The good thing is that its just a comic, not a series or a movie.
They can retcon just like they did it in the Bad Batch…
Hey theory, the comics are just an opinion of the author. From video watching now.
Personal Note: I wish I could be a member. But American Social Security Income doesn’t pay lot. If there’s any left. It’s small. I believe the Food stamp program is being overwhelming/ overloaded with ppl. Because ppl in my country have lost their jobs. Because the company went out of business due to Covid-19.
"Jacked Jabba" You, if you were a Hutt
8:14 we also have Antman
Theory vids nowadays: George Lucas this Dave Filoni that. Honestly - yes they have defined what classic and modern Star Wars are but don't put them on auch a pedestal. They made mistakes, too, and Filoni is working with a large team of talented people. He might have a lot of influence on certain decisions but he doesn't come up with everything.
Agreed
I know. It’s beyond annoying. Theory loves to praise them and complain about most other things.
I’d prefer they add on to the new trilogy and give it more lore to help flesh them out like they did with the prequel trilogy and look how well that turned out for that era.
God, I love IG-88!
Loool a big Anakin reference
In the "Star Wars" comic, Luke has yet to formulate any plan or tought to "save his father". I am not as negative to 2020 series as you are but yes, the 2017 series was better.
IG88 was destroyed in empire by Boba, you see his parts when chewie finds 3PO In pieces
Why did they give Vader the anakin lightsaber? It were supposed to be his new one
Did Vader not construct the new lightsaber's handle more or less the same as he did his original one?
Love you're chanel star wars is the best
Oh yes, I am ready.
Me hoping for vader vs bosk
Me getting vader vs ig88 it is acceptable
I’m confused how IG-88’s head blew off and in the next scene, he is fine. I thought it’d be sick if IG was killed by Vader.
Sound of Metal: Darth Vader listening to black metal songs in his chamber… .___.
Yo! new video nice
Great video as always man. But this series is just all over the place. Miss the dark horse era.
Marvel is reprinting them in epic collections and omnibuses
That's right except they all have the Disney logo smacked on them. Luckily I was fortunate to complete the legends collection before disney took over
@@starwarsshorts235 that’s good then. I wish they’d reprint the Indiana Jones comics.
It’s so clear he hates it lmaoooo
My opinion on the new Vader comics is that they offer some cool spectacle, but they only serve to harm the overall star wars lore. So it's even more Disney content that will not be going in my headcanon.
