Diesel Fuel Gelling - what does this mean & why does that happen

Diesel fuel will gel in cold weather.
What does this mean and why does that happen?
Paraffin is naturally occurring in No.2 diesel.
Cloud Point is when the paraffin separate and solidify.
Fuel will then appear cloudy and fuel delivery issues will begin as the paraffin clogs the fuel filters.
