    Wow these are beautiful, especially Dracula and Red Death Phantom! And I love that they made Ygor and fur vest Frankie.

    If someone wants to collect Universal Monsters figures I highly recommend this series by Sideshow. They are the most accurate interpretations of anything that is out, even right now...and they are almost 20 years old. Even though there are more expensive 12" figures by Sideshow, these smaller scaled ones are a little more affordable and available.

    What great figures!
    You've probably been told, but Chaney's hunchback wasn't 1933, and Son of Frankenstein wasn't 1941.
    Small details, but great figures. I am SO jealous!

      Wish they made a Glenn Strange Frankenstein from Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. That was his most iconic look. Sideshow 8" figures are the best. Of course G Strange's would have to be 9"s.

      You can get a 12 inch Glen Strange Frankenstein from House of Frankenstein. Maybe someday I'll take a look at that figure. Thanks for watching.

    • @louisborselio8608
      @louisborselio8608 7 років тому +1

      I got that one, along with most of the other 12 inch Frankensteins. His House Of Frankenstein/Dracula just aren't as cool as his Meet Frankenstein. To me that's not just his best look. To me that IS Frankenstein. No disrespect to Karloff, but when I see his Frankenstein I see him. When I see Glenn Strange's ACMF I see Frankenstein.

    • @johnwild8336
      @johnwild8336  7 років тому +1

      That is a classic look. Jack Pierce really refined his technique to an art by Abbott and Costello.

  • @JayG63
    @JayG63 5 місяців тому

    A couple of minor corrections. Boris Karloff didn't play Frankenstein , Colin Clive did. Karloff played the monster. The plaques on the figure stands are naming the films, not the characters .
    The Creature from the Black Lagoon was also known as the Gillman. For the Bride, the actor's last name is pronounced Lancaster, not "chester".
    Noter Dam is pronounced Notra Dom.
    Not trying to be difficult, just striving for accuracy.

    These Sideshow figures were great place holders back in the day until Neca knocked them out of the park with their own figures. I really hope Neca brings us at least The Metaluna Mutant, Mole Man, robe version of the invisible man, and I would be really satisfied with the line.

    Why why WHY did they have to end the line so soon? Can you imagine if they made a Glenn Strange Frankenstein via Abbott and Costello. What a crowning glory that would have been. They'd have to make it at least an inch taller than the Boris Karloff one.

    • @johnwild8336
      @johnwild8336  5 років тому +1

      Glenn Strange never really got an appreciation by Universal for playing the Monster. The EMCE toys Frankenstein is the only likeness that I can think of. He did play the Monster in three movies, so why not show him some respect Universal?

    • @louisborselio8608
      @louisborselio8608 5 років тому

      I have a few of those EMCE Frankenstein toys. I made an attempt to modified a couple of them to look more like A&C Frankenstein. The Marx toys Frankenstein is the closest thing to looking like the Abbott and Costello monster, but unfortunately it's too short and you can't select a pose of your choice.
      Hollywood in general never really appreciated him. I have recently come to find out what a fantastic versatile underrated actor he really was.
      But of the three times he played the monster do you think his Abbott and Costello one was his best look, or do you prefer one of the other two?

    • @johnwild8336

      @@louisborselio8608 I'm partial to House of Frankenstein. The best of the Monster Mash movies.

    • @louisborselio8608
      @louisborselio8608 5 років тому

      That is intriguing. As you know for me what my Monster Mash movie choice is. Perhaps I would have leaned more toward your opinion if the monster story-lines were intertwined with each other instead of here's the Dracula part, now here's The Wolfman part, and finally now it's time to wake up the Frankenstein monster for his part. But does that mean your partial to Glenn Strange's look in that movie or just the movie itself.

    • @johnwild8336
      @johnwild8336  5 років тому

      I like the vignette style. Boris is awesome in House. The Hunchback story is heart breaking. Maybe Carradine as Dracula is disappointing. Would have been epic if Bela was in that one instead of Abbott and Costello. My two cents.

    I do have a question. At what point is a enough is enough with these adult toys? How many times do we need to have some action figure, or movie or comic characters be made? I just have this feeling our grandkids will be throwing away all this plastic junk before they get on the moon train to catch their shuttle Mats. Because the landfills are full of tons of Gen X, and Y plastic toys

    Great review. I recently started collecting these figures after I purchased the Universal Monsters blu ray collection.Loved them as a kid and still do now. I've bought the main ones Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Wolfman, The Mummy, The Phantom of the Opera, Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon. I may get them all.Only paid a lot for Dracula. I've heard a few reviewers say they were fragile and their joints/limbs broke easily with the slightest posing. Have you had any issues? If they are that delicate, I will just leave them unopened. Thanks.

    • @johnwild8336
      @johnwild8336  7 років тому

      There not toys to be played with, that's for sure. My Frankenstein has a broken hand but was easily repaired. I wanted these figures loose so I could put them out each Halloween and they look great. My set can be posed and I haven't encountered any breaking. They really are not all that articulated anyways. These are great value figures and I highly recommend them if you love Universal Monsters. I also have a few of the larger 12 inch Sideshow Universal Monsters and will review them soon. Thanks for watching.

      Awesome. I do plan on opening them just for display and want some of the 12" figures as well. Did you ever get any of these figures released in the Diamond Select series? I think they said they redid a few sculpts, have better paint, and are better articulated. I think they remade most of the line that you showcased.
