Due to FDA regulations and oversight that is highly unlikely. However in the report they mentioned something about the electrical system being outdated. Since the factory is so old it most likely does have things like asbestos in walls surrounding electrical equipment. So the cost to update the system would cost more than to move to a new built factory. Obviously Kellogg’s is not disclosing what happens to where they move production. But the talk of Mexico or non union states would most likely be correct. I know I stopped buying many Nabisco products since their parent company moved much of their production to Mexico. Everyone in the comments acting like the company is shutting down. Kelloggs owns like 1/5 of the food industry. The companies fine. Most likely what happened is someone in the C-Suite saw the numbers and decided a unionized production plant in Omaha isnt worth the money or hassle on their end.
lmao atypical boomer-brained bootlicker take. Kelloggs is still very much in business, oh wise one. This is just a repeat of the 60s and 70s. Nothing more than off-shoring or as I like to call it, 'next-dooring' because we all know the corporation is probably just going to build a new plant or two south of the border where the people have far less labor rights and are paid much less. Don't you worry your little brain though, armchair citizen. The corporatocracy which rules over America remains as strong as ever.
That plant isn't 75 years old. I think it was built in the 60s maybe 1964 if I remember correctly. The old Kellogg's plant was down off of Center on 25th or 26th.
A box of cereal nearly costs $10.00 plus $5 a gallon of milk. I rather buy real food and the essentials I need. I'm sure many people are too. No need to fight. Company is not making any money since nobody is buying expensive cereal
So the serial company is to blame for high prices, everything in this country is inflated. Just wait things are going to be so high price our homeless population is going to grow exponentially. Mark my words.
Kellogg's had a family rewards program where they offered coupons and discounts. Then they shut down the program, so what did they do with all of the savings? Raise the price of a box of cereal, of course, and eliminate coupons, so that now a 13 Oz box of Special K retails for $5.99. I bought their cereal for decades, but no more at that price!
See of all those workers are smart at the Kellogg’s plant. They would just not show up that was in a clear message to Kellogg. Figure it out for the next two years.
Employees need to buy the plant and make their own cereal. Borrow the money from the bank, put their houses up for collateral and go in business for themselves. Pay themselves huge hourly wages from the profits. Maybe the national union can help with the money to buy the plant. Come on do not give up. Kelloggs made a profit so can the employees.

The Memphis plant is cutting staff too.
These will go to the Keebler plant in Mexico City,Mexico!! Keebler has owned Kellogg’s since the millennium!!
The FERRERO GROUP owns Kellogg and Keebler…. Everything is owned by UNION CORPORATIONS. 😂😡🤬
Clever little elves ....
I guess Mexico don't need more kellogg's plants in Mexico. Kellogg's has been sold in Mexico since 1922 then in 1951 they opened the firs Kellogg's plant in Queretaro, that means mexicans were importing kellogg's from United States during 29 years, that is a long Time. Now there 9 kellogg's plants in Mexico.
Well, the minimum wage in Mexico is $1.85, and no unions. Doesn't take much to figure this one out.
How'd you like to live on that Wage?
@@Dbodell8000 just take a look at Mexico and you will see
Why don't the union buy the plant?
the concept is control of the supply chain through to RETAIL: you need to control shelf space.
Research the Harmac pulp and paper mill in Canada's west coast. They did that and are doing great.

It's hard enough to find cereal without sugar. I love Kellogg cereals. I hope cereals aren't going to be made in other countries. It's getting hard enough to buy American grown and made .
They have a new plant in Mexico
This is the trickle down economy
I look to see where products are made. I definitely won't be buying then. I want American made and grown. The worst companies for me are the one's in America leaving and going to another country and leaving employees and states suffering.

All our factories going to Mexico and all the Mexicans coming here. Makes sense.
Unions in action. Closing American factories one by one. Well in this case two at once. I’m so proud of these unions.
This is a right to work state, you don’t have to belong. Ultimately it’s the owners who decided to shut down, not the union. Moving operations to Mexico where the wages are really low

No they found out the building had asbestos in it and forever chemicals that were possibly mixed in their products.
Is this true?? Where are the corroborating facts???
@@jcritch42 no I’m just speculating cause I can’t sleep and in most buildings that old that’s what you’ll find if properly inspected. And yes it’ll be in the corn and Frosted Flakes.
Consumers must check the packages of food they are buying. If it is not made in the USA it has to be marked as to country of origin. If possible find a substitute food product if it is not made in the USA.

America is crumbling everywhere!
Rats we had one here went from dog food plant to cereal production what a mess lucky Americans are starting to read the ingredients labels and most cereal’s are poisonous after burying all the women in our family while in their 60’s with cancer
Everyone in the comments acting like the company is shutting down. Kelloggs owns like 1/5 of the food industry. The companies fine. Most likely what happened is someone in the C-Suite saw the numbers and decided a unionized production plant in Omaha isnt worth the money or hassle on their end.
Won't buy that brand ever again. The ceo is greedy
Regulated and unioned right out of business
lmao atypical boomer-brained bootlicker take.
Oh, but isn't daddy trumpie going to fix all of this for you? $2 milk and $3 cereal? No? Were you misled? 😂😂😂😂😂
If you all knew and understood how bad cereals in general are for you to consume you'd be screaming for change or their closure.

It’s that great economy again things have never been better
Employees need to buy the plant and make their own cereal.
Borrow the money from the bank, put their houses up for collateral and go in business for themselves. Pay themselves huge hourly wages from the profits. Maybe the national union can help with the money to buy the plant. Come on do not give up. Kelloggs made a profit so can the employees.
Haven’t eaten cereal since I graduated high school. Who can afford Kellogg’s anyhow?
If they really wanted to stay, they would need a new president/CEO with fresh ideas on administration, management and marketing.
