We are in the direct path (NY) and expect a lot of people to come here to see it. At the College where I work, they are designated a place to watch by the RMSC (Rochester Museum and Science Center).

I was outside for the August 21, 2017 eclipse; worked down in Naples Florida, had 100% eclipse, had safety glasses, only wore them for a few seconds to see it, then let others use them to see it. Your pets all look good; I like seeing Jack Sparrow and his big spots on his neck. Nice to see Daisy and Pixie. You are right in not going to Niagara Falls; it will be jam-packed and it would take forever to leave after it's over. You say that you will be recording it; maybe you could do a live recording?; I would certainly watch your live video.

Apparently Burlington will have a total eclipse (not sure how long), as well as Hamilton (total eclipse of 90 seconds). I unfortunately don't have the glasses, am out of the path of a total eclipse, and it's at the time of day that I probably won't get to see it. Should be interesting to see if it affects our pets though - I know my dog doesn't like to go outside if there is even the small possibility that it might rain. She can tell it's coming, even if it's a ways off. But I doubt she'll be bothered by the change in light during the day... so long as that change doesn't come with rain, and the possibility that she might get her feet wet lol.

I'm just outside the area of total darkness where I live in Newfoundland. I'll be closing the curtains in my birdroom and leaving the light on. It will be close to their bedtime here anyway.
