    I have a tropical greenhouse very similar to yours and your videos have helped me out a lot! Thank you so much for running this channel! I’m excited for every video!

    Loved this Geoff. I grow them too, and I think I might have mentioned a while back that I like to root leaves in water by putting the stem in water just like their cousin african violet leaves. I also root in the same way you do in mix too. I often divide mine when they get pot bound.💚

      Thanks Susan - it's great when plants root so easily. I haven't tried dividing yet, but I'm not inclined to go to any larger pots than the 12 to 15cm ones, so I think next year might be the time to give it a try.

    I love streptococcus! Killed every one I had though. Realized from watching it was from over watering. Ready to try again this spring with great success!!

      Yeah because they don’t like direct sun it’s tempting to think they love being wet but that’s not the case. Leave them dry for a couple of days before watering again. Good luck and I look forward to your Streptocarpus success next season! 😁

      I know it's not possible now, but in the future, any possibility that Dibly's has tours?

    Thank you for doing this one! I am wanting to get streps again but kept killing them around this time of the year. Now I have a better idea of what to do.
    Can I put them on an east facing window that only gets morning sunshine?

    • @Grow_Up_Man55

      My pleasure Trish! I would say they hate any direct sun - but if it's really weak and only for a short time you might get away with it. You'll soon know, as it'll collapse into a full wilt if it's not happy. But once removed from the sun and watered they usually revive up again so nothing is lost.

    Could not have done it better for the information i needed.I have a couple i bought at a garden centre(they were in Dibley's pots) the leafs have wilted from what you say this is over watering.Bought some younger plants ebay & these seem to be doing fine & i have keeped these alot dryer.Once again thanks.O forgot to mention these plants are indoors.I have a few aspidistra's i only water them when the leafs start to droop.It would appear the same for streps.Would you just let them dry out or change the compost?

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  3 роки тому +1

      Glad it helped Edward! 😀 I wouldn't wait till the leaves droop - just leave the surface of the compost dry for a couple of days then water. Once they're beginning to wilt then you've left it too long. They'll recover but it does stress them. At this time of year just a trickle is fine - they don't need to be totally wet through - although I've got mine at 12°C, so if they're in warmer temps and beginning to grow strongly then you'll need to increase watering accordingly. I would only pot them on once their current pot is completely full - you can usually tell by either knocking them out of the pot or by squeezing the pot. I would also feed a high potash fertilizer once they begin stronger growth. Good luck!

    Do you add lights? What temp is your greenhouse in this video?

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  8 місяців тому

      Yes I have grow lights - a Mars Hydro TS 1000 and another cheap no-brand light too. The minimum temperature is kept to 12°C.

    What temp should they be kept at in winter? Would s first free greenhouse work? I expect it would be too cold??

    • @Grow_Up_Man55
      @Grow_Up_Man55  Рік тому

      The general advice on lowest temperature for Streps is 5°C - but they must be kept on the dry side.
