The "neurodiverse" have always been with us... what has not been with us are the fancy words and definitions and the IDEOLOGICALLY DRIVEN "need" to manage these children. Now, I would not mind if the care of these children was driven by impartial investigation and objective - but the evidence is that the foundations of the reserach is Ideoloigally Driven... like the "Transgender" issue - this needs to be recallibrated before we act on the issue...
@@hariseldon3786 Nowadays, the way that we support these children has changed, because both parents are often working, or there is a single mother who doesn't have the help of a spouse and maybe needs to work shifts while also being caretaker. The school and wrap-around services are now fulfilling the roles that Mothers used to take in the system.
My eldest adhd child really struggled in the mainstream system. Dibilitating is a word Id use. We moved her to a steiner school and she absolutely flourished. The mainstream schools could take some notes from them for supporting the neuro diverse.
Glad it worked for your daughter, but Steiner has done weird ideology, and doesn't support High School (secondary education). I'm curious, what are the school fees and class sizes?
@@growtocycle6992 its definitely culty... like in an old school community way. People maintain the school at working bees and they have festivals to celebrate the seasons. Pretty wholesome really. Fees are 7,200 a year at ours plus donation if you can afford more than that. Class sizes range from 12 - 30 students.
Now, I have seen AMAZING, skilled support workers that know exactly what they are doing, yet, WHY WHY WHY are they given pathetic contracts with very limited hours?? I've seen the difference having support workers. Resources means MONEY, FUNDING AND HUMANS. A village people.
The question that should be asked is - why are there so many children with this compared to the past? Yes, there have always been people who have showed these traits - as the paediatric psychiatrist said - who do you want designing your bridge - someone who pays attention to the minute details or someone who doesn't? And just putting it out there - what are the symptoms of mercury poisoning?

Neurodivergent kids used to be kept home and raised by mum... Often, they never found jobs and most stayed with mum into adulthood.
"high functioning" learned to mask, or failed

Most stable households after having few or no children in New Zealand.
