Pork Shoulder in Creamy Tomato Sauce | Polish Cooking and Baking

Pork Shoulder in Creamy Tomato Sauce Recipe:
800 g of pork shoulder,
1 large onion,
1-2 cloves of garlic,
approx. 3 cups of water,
1 bay leaf,
2-3 kernels of allspice,
1-2 tsp of corn starch or flour plus approx. 1/2 cup of heavy cream,
3-4 tbsp of tomato paste,
salt, pepper, marjoram, oregano, sweet paprika and optionally some flour for dusting the meat before frying,
some finely chopped parsley
Cut the meat into smaller pieces. Sprinkle the meat with seasonings (at this point you can add some oil and marinade the meat overnight).
Optionally dust the meat with flour on both sides. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan, add the meat (you can do this in batches) and cook for few minutes, until lightly golden on both sides. To the same skillet, add finely chopped onion, followed by finely chopped garlic. Season with salt. Add the meat back in and cover with liquid (add enough water to cover the ingredients in the pan). Add allspice, tomato paste and bay leaf. Simmer on low for about 90 minutes or until really tender. Mix the starch with cream, creating a slurry. Add to the sauce and simmer, until thickens (add more starch if your sauce is too thin). Sprinkle with parsley and check the seasonings. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles or barley and some crunchy slaw on the side. Enjoy:)
