Agreed ive had to got to a vet emergency room twice at they arent very friendly or explain and i asked questions and they just gave me the most bold answer and made no sense to me
@@DrLeraI hope you can answer this for me. I have a 12-13 year old beagle dotson mix. He's never had his teeth brushed and is just now getting dental work. I was qouted yesterday at his normal vet 1150-1900$ for all the dental care done...totally fine don't care about price. My concern is, they are selling me a product and I want to be sure he's going to be ok after. He still is majorly active, hyper, we do a mile walk everyday, he's spoiled, gets a heating pad on his back and a massage every 2 days, heck he still eats normal dry food like no problem and then wet food at night but what made all this start was he lost a tooth, I freaked out and found all this out at the vet so I'm trying to get him the care he deserves but will he be able to eat normally? Does it increase a risk of any diseases by doing this? What could possibly go wrong in the long term of this? He's my baby and completely healthy otherwise they said. 13 and a coat still as shiny as a Marines boot 😅 I know it's not legal professional help so all this is a hypothetical "If it was your dog" what would you do scenario😅😅😅
Thank you so much my vet didn't mention any of this. My dog is whining or crying and I searched it up this is also expected for the first 12 to 24 hrs from what I've seen.
My bulldog just had BAOS surgery and has been throwing up everything - soft food and water for over 24 hours and gurgling a lot. We are watching for aspiration and she’s on antibiotics. I hope to God she is better by tomorrow. Breaking my heart.
Exactly why I ran to you tube when she started to wake more she started whining something I didn't expect! What am I saying I didn't expect any of this!! I've raised , loved ,and lost many dogs and cats in my life and this is a first! Usually I'm picking up after anesthesia after it's worn off 😮
Thank you so much. My pug is home after her dental procedure and she’s totally out of it. Can’t settle. Disorientated. Awful. Don’t know if it’s normal.
Hi There. My dog went in for a biopsy. She also had an ear smear but when she got home, she was obviously groggy the first day, but did come right the next. My concern is that she cannot hear now. I am so stressed out because she heard normally before going in to the vet. Please advise if this is normal?
2 years ago I took my dog for dental work. She was having difficulty breathing especially through her nose. She was a little overweight. It took some hours before it went away but I got so worried do I said I would never take her back. Recently she has had some growths on her body likr nodules. She will get them removed tomorrow along with dental work. Shes about 13 years old and has lost some weight since that time but still is not at her ideal weight. What would cause the breathing issues? Can it get worst this time? Can she die?
Thank you for this information. My chihuahua just came home from having tooth extractions. There were things I didn't think to ask the vet until I noticed when we got home. I do wish to ask a question- My dog is acting distrustful and aggressive towards my husband and I, who have raised her since she was born. Is this behavior a normal side effect of the anesthesia? Thank you again for the information!
@lea_924 Thank you for responding. I really appreciate all your videos! Her behavioral changes have improved since, but she still becomes aggressive at night when lying in bed with me. If i try to move the blankets or get close to her backside, she bites or runs in fear. Otherwise, she's still the same happy go lucky cuddle bug. (She's 13 btw and the vet said her eyesight is getting bad)
@@tanaxartI am currently having this issue with my chihuahua she’s 4 tho and all of a sudden snapping more so at night at my partner. Not so much me. It’s upsetting my partner as she’s never really behaved this way. She is due in for dental work next Friday just before Xmas. And the vets already said he will have to pull some teeth with cleaning them.
@darrenfergusonukmets3547 Hi Darren, i would like to share some advice: my girl is 13 years old, and speaking from experience, I would bring those behavioral changes up to your vet before the appointment. Sudden behavioral changes, especially in a pup at 4 years, shouldn't be overlooked. However, simple things like changes in their environment can cause this, too. (Ie. Moving to a new house, losing or gaining housemates or pets, etc.) Do keep in mind im speaking from years of experience owning small dogs and that I am not vet. My girl is the first to have a major dental surgery so i am learning more about my furry pal here. I pray your pup gets better and has a successful tooth removal. Happy holidays!
My vet said our dog woke up "swimming" and very disoriented. He was rolling on his back trying to "swim". She laughed and said it's common, but they can harm themselves, so they have to be restrained. Is this common? I can't find a single thing on the internet!
Is it at all possible for a dog to develop tracheal collapse after receiving anesthesia? Also, is it possible for the tracheal tube to be left inside of the dogs trachea? I know it’s a odd question, but my 16 year old dog has been coughing ever since she had her teeth cleaned 8months ago, and at one point I thought I even felt something poking out a bit in her neck area. She’s been seen by her vet since and they said she has trachea collapsed but it’s odd to me that they could diagnose it without an X-ray that I can’t afford to do since I am not able to work at the moment. And if she wasn’t coughing at all until after her procedure, they should’ve been the ones to pay for her X-ray in my opinion.
Hello, how is your doggy doing now..?? My Pomeranian girl needs her fractured tooth extracted and she’s already has some teacher problems,. ,coughing.. what breed is you pup .
My 3 month old puppy died.... Not eating after anesthesia...blood diahorea slight vomit.... Finally dead... I didn't know what to give to dogs after anesthetic treatment.... The vet sedated my dog to treat leg fracture... But she would have survived hopping... But now she's dead 😑
It’s my dog’s 5th day after his surgery. He is very anxious and wants to leak his wound really bad. His vet says it’s normal, but I wish I could do something to help him. Any suggestions?
My 9.5years old dog was spayed three days ago. She was now suddenly run away for a few foot steps and we found her hold body was shaking. Vet has prescribed Gabapentin. Is it normal for a old dog after spay? When will this condition end?
@@DrLera its actually not a gag its more of short fast breathes he keeps randomly having 2 to 3 times a day lasting for a couple of mins or so..since it's been a week since his procedure what do you think this can be?
My dog got a deep ear cleaning and they ended up sedating him. It's been 5 days now and I notice him a little weird, like confused at home, he sees me as a stranger and he looks scared and lost. Is it normal to act that way? And how long does it take for them to get out of that funk? I told the vet already but they dont even know why he is acting that way.
I wouldn't anticipate that any sort of sedation would last more than 5 days and that's really pushing it. I would recommend that you take him to your veterinarian to have him evaluated to see if maybe there's an issue with the eardrum or something else. The only other thing that I can imagine depending on house if you're the symptoms are is if your cat had some sort of mini stroke or something like that again I have very little information here so the best recommendation would be to go back to the veterinarian and have them evaluate otherwise get a second opinion from someone else in person
@@paolalizethcamac6122 it took a month for him to get back to his normal self.
