Sharpie vs. BiC: One of these will destroy your Bible and the other is just fine.

  • In this video, I compare the Sharpie with Smear Guard to the BiC Bright Liner. One is far and away better than the other, even though both are commonly found in offices and in school boxes all over the world.

I use those wax ones. No bleed through since it's wax. Color pencils are great too

Color pencils are fine but they fade away after time like most Christians.

The Word of God is "sharpier" than any double-edged sword. Thanks!

I have enjoyed great success with colored pencils for highlighting. The quality does matter; I use Crayola Colored Pencils, they are soft and bright and I have not had a fading problem with them at all. The off-brand colored pencils are hard and require more pressure on the page and do not hold their color on the page. Just my 2-cent contribution. :) P.S. There are a lot more colors to choose from when helps me with my Bible marking process too.

I use Zebrite or UNI Propus highlighters in my Bibles. I don’t use the blue or purple Zebrite, they seem abit dark. I am happy with the other colors and have used them for years.

The Zebrite is my go to, best highlighter out there. NO bleed. Perfect for thin pages.

That Eagle paper really is nice. I got a pack of the sharpies to compare to my bic highlighters that I already had. The Sharpie ones were way better but they weren't too kind to my Quentel 28gsm paper (duh) or my thicker ESV trutone wide margin reference paper.

Good to know! I use the Bic in commentaries and books (and do sometimes have bleed through), but only use Pigma Micron pens in my Bibles. I’ll have to remember God’s Word to us today: “Beware of Bildad and Bilham”. ;-)

TUL is superior. They're harder to find being Office Depot is the only major store that carries them or buy it online. Their .05 gel needle point pen glides right off. It can smear since it is gel so you have to be careful. So if the gel doesn't suit you they have other options too. I find it to have the perfect weight and balance as well as precision I'm looking for in a pen. Also, their highlighters really pop off the page with no bleeding. Add in an Oxford stone paper notebook and you'll have a perfect writing experience to take Bible notes with at a affordable price.

Pastor, can you tell me where I can order one of these Cambridge wide margin Bibles with good leather. Also, can I get it in my preferred NKJV? Thank you for your advice and videos!

Have you ever felt that pen ink destroys Bibles? I’ve seriously contemplated switching to pencil since it doesn’t bleed through or blot when underlining. The catch is that I’m not sure how long the writing remains legible.

Back in June of 2016 you did a review of the 1599 GENEVA BIBLE, but the comments were turned off. So I'm doing a little "hacking" here. I own both a facsimile 1560 GENEVA BIBLE and the 1599 Tolle Lege Press version. They are my gems! Love these two bibles! The perspective of the translators of that day shows that modern translators have lost something. In my view, this version is superior to the KJV.

I've used the sharpie highlighters for a while because they're the cheapest I can find, but i found that after a couple weeks they seem to fade and not be so bright anymore. wondering if anyone else had the same problem
