Interview with pro ultra runner Jared Hazen

Jared Hazen is a professional ultra runner for Salomon, having podium finishes at Western States, a win at Lake Sanoma 50 miler and a win at JFK 50 miler amongst many other successes. He's also a member of the well known 'Coconino Cowboys', a trail running group in Flagstaff with a great sense of humour (give them a follow on insta). I first spoke to Jared back in 2020 amidst the pandemic, before I had started recording my interviews and was writing them up. It was a joy to speak to him then as much as it is now and there have been quite a few developments. Growing up in Pennsylvania and getting into trail running at a young age began a really interesting career trajectory for Jared and it's so nice to meet someone who if they didn't like the direction they were headed simply changed it and had the courage to do this a few times, which I'm sure has something to do with how well established and settled he is now, still at a relatively young age, based in Flagstaff. I'd encourage people to give this a listen, not only to a very successful athlete which is interesting in itself, but for the stories and perspectives Jared had to share. Thanks so much Jared!
