Every now and then I need something right now for the boat. I am thankful I have a West Marine in driving distance. They are friendlier and more reasonable than the much closer marina. I have a 1986 70 hp evinrude vro. It has old johnson controls with separate throttle and gear sticks. Do you think I could use the johnson cables with new morse controls? thanks

I restore boats , and I'm finally getting a chance to restore my ranger bass boat I purchased a 235hp Johnson from a friend that had been rebuilt to go on his boat but he need money and sold it to me so it is fresh and I have command 3000 controls that are actually Mercury but he also gave me his controls but his box is crappy looking so Im going to throw his cables in my box and then run all my wiring .

Just did the same thing converted from force to evinrude saves money and time
Here we are 7 years later and West Marine still sucks.

I would find me a jam nut to go in that cable because with it being plastic the pressure on it using it will strip the plastic treads out .

All the stuff on a boat is a ripoff. Cost me over $600 for a new Teleflex controller and cables. They have only been making the junk for 50 years.
