I've had the full faired 1987 edition from new and it's still going strong... I couldn't imagine NOT having this bike; even today, almost 35 later, I'm in love with it! The dealer only had one left back then, and I bought it even without test riding it first - I simply knew from the moment I first saw it that it had to be that one, and I never regretted for a single second (even though it was pretty pricey for a mechanics apprentice in Denmark back then...) 😀

These EF's, the unitrak 1100 gpz and fj1100 yamaha, great bikes. I was in the kawasaki camp but these were great bikes and great times.

I have a 1985 version, GSX1100ef, fairing, in blue. 4-1 exhaust, and Man does it turn heads when I'm out. You just don't see them on the roads any more they are so rare in original spec.

Great video. I also have an 1985 E model bone stock built in October 84 just like Pete mentions about his. Love seeing another clean example roaming the streets. 🤙 This is pure, unadulterated muscle bike. Look how low and mean it is the way it sits with that iconic paint. This is the best Suzuki ever produced from that era and maybe is still today.

I got a 1984 that I got in 1987 for $1800. I only had one year of experience on a CB450 before this and it was a charm to handle. Took onle a few minutes to get used to it, no surprise, no trick, just awesome handling and easy predictable power distribution. Juice came out only at 5500 rpm, but considering my lack of experience the throttle was not surprising. However if you squeezed it seriously it would responds. A few times I got in a corner way too fast, but this baby breaked and leaned like a beauty. Vibration was the only downside though. The FJR I tried last year did not handle as good as this. FJR is way too heavy, uncomfortable and not stable. GS1150E was the perfect sport touring, along with the Honda V65 Sabre which had more low end tork and less vibration.

Found an 84 1150 ES, the one with the fairing that didn't wrap around the bottom...found it in 2000, in a field for two years, weeds growing thru it...the rear-brake master cylinder rusted up solid, new fluids, tires/chain-sprockets...zero compression on one cylinder. Head off, found a spot where the drive-chain likely broke, cracked the case & was repaired...the pistons were marked "1.0" , was bored out...new valve seals, cleaned up the seats...rode it for 4 yrs. I don't know how much longer it would have survived in the Pacific Northwest outdoors, rusting & corroding.

It's heart breaking when they suffer that fate. c".) My 1150 EFG nearly suffered the same because of my company - long story - but when it finally broke down (rear suspension connecting link broke at the bearings), I decided to buy some bikes from Switzerland and managed to get it in pretty good shape again.
Since then I've done some quite extensive trips on it for about ten years, even to Stalingrad, Baku, St. Petersburg, Moscow and many other places... and it's still going strong! 😀I also take better care of it nowadays, keeping it in the garage whenever I'm at home here in Denmark. c",)

Beautiful motorcycle, I had a friend who had the blue and white version of the GS 1150 E. We always reminisce about the bikes we should have kept. My brother had a 1983 GS 1100 ES in his stable and I bought a new Yamaha 1986 FJ 1200. We all where different sizes so at times each of the three bikes would win a role on race, very even until another buddy bought his 1986 Honda 1000 Hurricane, we could keep him honest but after an indicated 120 he would blow by. All of these bikes were very comfortable to ride all day. We never thought of saving them but just have as much fun as possible. I also had a 1983 Suzuki GS 750 ES which I have been searching for, another very comfortable motorcycle, rode it from Wisconsin to Washington then to California and home in 1985. Another of my favorite bikes was my 1982 Suzuki GS 750 EZ. That one went to Canada a couple times and many other weekend trips, over built for a 750 and very dependable. Many other bikes we should have kept. Some day I would like to visit this museum.

Indeed! One of my colleagues even claimed the factory says the same... and I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

I have the same bike in about the same condition. I bought it a few years ago for $1,400.00 I get a lot of compliments and looks everywhere I go with it. I`m not sure what they are worth now but I`m not planning on selling it for quite a while - it`s a (keeper). The only complaint I have is that there is a slight buzz at a certain RPM (the plastics buzz), other than that, it`s a great bike!
