- The power trio from Seattle stop at NYC TV studios to perform the first single from their second album "II" (or PUSA II). Also they chat for a while with the redhead guy about opening for Tom Petty. The rare thing about this clip is the inclusion of Max Weinberg to replace the original drummer who was sick at this date.
Thanks to c0n@nf@n for the raw footage.
AMAZING! These days, when they say EVERYTHING is online, this clip sure is one thing that has NOT been online - well not before this brilliant upload! :D I remember seeing this when it originally aired in 1997 (over 20 years ago!) and cursing myself why I didn't have my VCR running. I've remembered this video every now and then and searched all over the net for it, and today I finally got to see it again! Thank You! This is a magnificent example of ex tempore live playing - with maybe not enough time for proper rehearsing :) You can see the three of them are all on the edge like "will we get thru this" and Volcano with its quirky time changes just isn't the easiest rock song to learn quick. Of course Max plays brilliantly, but inevitably drops the ball briefly a few times. Still - or maybe because of it - the result is pure rock'n'roll joy! AMAZING! Thx!
Hey! thank you for leaving your comment. I'm always looking for this kind of videos myself, so i'm very glad that you enjoyed it as you said..
Hey! Just wanna let you know... you’re awesome
This is one of the great YT comments.
Such a great performance, especially under the circumstances.
Truly such a brilliant band.
My goodness... you do NOT know how long I've been looking for someone to post this so I can see it again! Thank you!
You're welcome.
*♡*♡*♡* this band from my bar days! MISS ING this band So MUCH!
GREAT live version of a GREAT song on a GREAT show. Wow.
I loved that song the 90's were awesome
whoaaaaa, max fucking killed it!
You can definitely tell that the song is still fairly new even to the new members of the band, Max killed it though. But yeah, you can see everyone is like 'OK it's just 3 minutes we gotta get through' haha, I've been in that situation before, it's scary but awesome because your adrenaline running. But Max's band knows just about every song under the sun. This is such a cool upload as a fan of Conan and PUSA. I'm also curious.. Mach 5 was their first single from this album, so I wonder if they chose 'Volcano' as it's a more straight forward song than Mach 5, or if it was the single out at the time.
how great is this thanks for uploading
You 're welcome.
*“A big black boombox”* is the best part
Such a great track...
Max Weinberg!
Meh, Weinberg played for The E Street Band but Jason Finn played for Helios Creed.
I wonder how long Max had to learn the song.
Seriously, given his level of expertise, I'd say just one run-through. He got about 98% down with just that, I think.
Old but good question, still deserved an answer. 👍🏼
@@CarloCastillo I think you're right. He is very much a professional.
It’d be an interesting story - it’s not a straightforward song, but I think he nailed every single hit. The mix is a bit off though.
@@tjhall9377 live television performances are notorious for sounding like they were mixed on live television
That's what the smell is - Mt. Saint Helens.
