Hi Becky! I really enjoy your videos. I’m a fellow homeschooling mama of 20+ years. I can totally relate! Utilizing our backyard for gardening, badminton games with the family and weekend cookouts with the hubby has really helped us. We also take 30 minute walks outdoors every day and order a fun takeout meal once a week from some of our favorite fast food joints. I grocery shop once a week at Walmart during the early morning hours to avoid larger crowds. When the husband is home for longer periods of time we try to tackle larger home projects and occasionally go out for an ice cream treat at DQ drive thru. Overall it’s been manageable. Prayers for you and your family. We are all in this together.

We, too, canceled our Disney World trip in April. It was going to be our family's first trip, and it was really hard to cancel. We may go in November. Schooling 3 kids, taking care of a baby, and also having my husband home most days has been draining. I love being surrounded by my wonderful family, but I feel like I am "on" every waking hour. I am burned out! You are not alone in your feelings. Thank you for your honesty. God bless!

We are on week 8 of social distancing. I haven't seen or hugged my kids in 8 weeks (they are all grown up and on their own and we do talk to both every day but it's not the same!!!!), haven't been inside a store in 8 weeks and have only been in the car a time or 2. My state (California) is being very cautious and slow to reopen and in fact the Mayor of LA county is talking about keeping the stay at home order in place through August, we don't live in LA county but once one county starts things others seem to follow! We do still get trash/green waste and recycling picked up each week. I feel like all I do is cook and do dishes all day long!!

I bet you miss your kids like crazy! I've seen my mom a few times now but we don't get very close to each other. We've had several car lunch dates where she sits in her car and we sit in ours and talk through speakerphone. It's actually pretty fun! Maybe you could set something like that up with your kids.

Becky, I am a mom of 2 from Ohio and relate to you so much about Disney World! It is my happy place as well, my favorite place to be, and when you said that is the one week in the year you can be out of your own brain, that is exactly it for me too! I also think about Disney every day! I suffer from general anxiety, and being at Disney I am able to just relax and not worry about a thing. I am also wound pretty tight as you say, and am over aware of everything, (big planner as well!) so yes, I need that break once a year to not have to think about anything except having fun with my family. We go every January, but didn't get to this past January, so I am in Disney withdrawal for sure!

@@aplacetonest I definitely know what you mean. The whole time you were talking about it, I just kept saying me too! ;) I hope you also get to go back "home" soon! We are going to wait till things go back to normal there though. The fireworks and parades are part of the magic for us, and I know they won't have those going on right away when they open. Also, don't know if they will be requiring masks, and in the Florida heat, that is just not going to happen for us. So we will wait, as much as that is going to be so hard. On another note, a couple other things we have in common, I have to make my bed every single day, and I also do not like to cook at all! Deciding what to make for dinner that is easy and also going to please everyone is always a struggle. ;)

This situation has taken alot of freedoms from all of us, and I don't think it's easy for anyone.
My isolation began March 14th. Until this past weekend I had only been on 2 trips outside. 1 to a garden store, and 2. To the feed store, but I stayed in the truck. That was nearly 2 months of almost total isolation, ecept from family ofcorse. Texas is now partially open, that does not mean that my family is comfortable with me running around everywhere, but for mother's Day I got to go to Sam's and pick my own groceries and I went out to eat at Panera with my husband. We were the only people in the restaurant. He joked about how he bought out the restaurant for me so we could eat in privacy...lol, ofcorse he didn't, it's that no one is eating out yet.
I wanted to share that good news because little outings like that can really improve your out look and mental state. It made me think of those in nursing homes. I don't have anyone in a nursing home but if I ever do I will go visit that person and take them out, because now I appreciate how important that is. I fully understand what a big deal it is. We are all coming to a deeper gratitude of simple freedoms. It is a good place to be, to be looking for and appreciating each and every blessing. You are doing great Becky, each thing we do to lift our mood helps.

Our second visit to WDW is planned for September, but now I'm second-guessing it. It's not even about Covid-19. My son, who is about to turn 12 has been very clingy to me and his Dad since all this started and I asked him about his feelings and he replied he was scared to death that me and his Dad would get this virus and die. All we could do was reassure him but it’s difficult when this crap is in your face 24/7. I don’t know about anyone else’s but I don’t know ANYONE that has gotten this virus, the people they know don’t know anyone who has this virus. My husband is considered an “essential” so he’s had to go to work everyday which has made our son even more anxious about this whole thing. I’m tired, angry and fed up with all of this. These last two months have definitely been a self reflection of realizing how difficult it is not feeling the security of being free to get out of the house like Becky stated.
I'm also like Becky where that freedom of just getting out has been extremely difficult.
One thing I have learned from this is to find joys even in the simplest moments and not dwell on the things I can't do even though it's completely frustrating.
One verse that has stuck out to me while Becky was talking is:
2 Corinthians 12:9. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.". Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Super BIG mom helps and joys:

3.) Buying flower seeds and planting them in many different pots around outside and giving them away.

Dirty dishes multiply in our house....we run the dishwasher often plus we hand wash a lot of things too. Keep staying safe and healthy.

Yes, I'm tired of my own cooking, too! I am slowly starting to get food to-go just to break up the monotony and start to feel a bit more normal. We've only done that twice since I filmed this video. I don't shop at Dollar General but I sure miss Dollar Tree! I just wonder what amazing things they have that I'm missing out on! LOL

I'm in Australia and our government has this virus pretty much under control (for the time being anyway) but most people are still being very cautious. My husband's office is still closed and he is working from home. We homeschool also so that aspect is business as usual but we do miss external classes and being able to pop to the shops or see friends/family (and feel comfortable about it).

I'm glad Australia seems to be handling this well! Yes, I miss just running to the store to get something or look around. I really miss Dollar Tree and Ollie's! Also, I REALLY need a haircut! lol What stores do you miss shopping at the most?

@@aplacetonest I would probably say Target and similar shops I miss the most. As for haircuts, I have become the family hairdresser including for myself. Just need a good quality pair of hair cutting scissors!

I laughed when you said you did mobile deposit. I just did my first one yesterday and it felt way too easy. Give me the complicated going to the bank business 😂😅

    We are so much alike.
My husband tells me I don’t know how to relax. I related so heavily to those sort of personality traits that are both blessings and curses. I also need to leave the house every day even if it’s just for drive through coffee. So I really sympathize and am so sorry you don’t get to go on your trip. We wanted to take our family to the Smokey mountains this year and that’s not likely to happen. 😭

I'm glad you can relate! I hope you get to go the the Smoky Mountains soon and when you do, YOU HAVE to eat at Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg! It's my favorite place to eat in the world!

Now that your older daughter is in high school, will you let her take AP exams? I'm in public school, but I've heard homeschoolers can self study for the exams and still earn college credit.

Instead of AP she's going to take some CLEP exams as well as dual credit classes.

Wow we are still able to go out. We can walk bike ride boat kayak etc as long as we social distance. You guys cant go for a drive or to a park?

All playgrounds are closed and if we want to go to a nature path park, we have to make a reservation. Of course, reservations are hard to come by and the weather has been soooo rainy and cold, it makes that almost impossible.

Go camping in your back yard for a week. The kids would probably love it. Lol

But...but...does that mean I would have to camp, too!? lol

Of course you would. You might enjoy it. Have you ever been camping? We started camping when our son was in scouts. We learned to just love it and our kids still love it even though they are grown and married. Getting out in the fresh air and having a camp fire is just relaxing to me. I admit that it isn't for everyone. Lol

Yeah.... my husband has to teach from home now, but luckily we have a downstairs he stays in.... I get a little bothered when he just comes up for lunch 😳🤣. All just joking, but really this was OUR time lol. Same on Disney. Our “home” is Disneyland Paris now since we moved to Germany, and we have to try to explain the same thing to people when they wonder how we can keep going; that it’s a place we can go and not think about anything else. Sigh. We miss it so much.

I'm so glad you can relate! It's been a definite change to have my husband home but now that he's going back to work, I'll have to get "unused" to having him home. lol Hopefully we can all get back to Disney soon!
