@@FootstepsandForaging Thanks for the video. One thing I was curious about, is there more old growth on the pilot ridge trail when you turn and go uphill away from the sauk river or is pilot ridge trail mostly in smaller trees? I am an old growth fan and especially like higher elevation old growth like western hemlock and yellow cedar.
@@danielmoung9098 it felt like most, if not all the old growth was along the valley floor along the river. Trees were significantly smaller and further spread once you hit about 4k in elevation
Are we allowed to camp at Glacier Peak Wilderness? I live in Tacoma. But I sometimes drive to Granite Falls to see the mountains. Mountain Loop Highway is one of my favorite places to go for a ride in nature.
@daneharris3600 thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The signage is very good. There are even a few temp signs from the forest service about side trails that are closed from recent fires. Be sure to bring at least two forms of navigation just in case! I used Garmin Explore, AllTrails, and WTA Trailblazer
@zingo_man why gatekeep when the entire state is teaming with wild fungus? There's literally more fungi fruiting in the woods than people have interest or bandwidth to pick. The entire point of the channel is to share resources and inspire others to get outside. Also -- if you can hike 28 miles with 7,000 feet evelation gain in an incredibly remote area, have at it. Don't be a naughty gatekeeper boy :)
"might as well have it to myself...it's quiet man...just me the mountains and the mushrooms...just how I like it". ----Next time you go, expect there to be about 300 cars in the parking lot and loads of zoomer influencers clamoring all over the place with their own selfie sticks because you put a blinking neon sign with an arrow pointing on a beautiful isolated spot. People like you are ruining these places for everyone else while profiting from the marketing and exploitation of them. It's okay to teach and share while being vague about exact location.
@JeffHuntington my good sir, hyperbole much? I was literally hiking on the PCT and its side trails, which already see thousands upon thousands upon thousands of hikers every year. I don't think this small YT channel is going to "ruin" these beautiful isolated locations with 300 cars full of zoomers with selfie sticks. You might benefit from touching some grass and getting to a trail soon. Happy trails!
Cool channel! Mush love from NorCal ✌🏻
@dcfromthev mush love to the Norcal homies! Thanks for the support, dude 🐻
You're moving! Great looking hike. Found you typing in mushroom North fork Sauk River. Hiking there next week.
@goodnatureart heck yeah! Let me know what beta I can share (just uploaded another video from that area). Stay warm and safe and have fun 🥾

There are several hedgehog species in WA. I suspect you found hydnum washingtonianum. They are amazing!
@cogiyawns245 great ID! We conferred with a friend in OR who came to the same ID. The short stalk really had me confused. Rad find

@@LaoSoftware yes. There are many campsites open and available. You can also disperse camp in the national forest ⛺️
Hedge hogs are choice
@@michaelbodner2955 can't believe I've never had them. They were mild but delicious!
One of the best!
There is a stream along the hiking trail ?
I like to do 2days hiking or 3days
@hyunsookpark6454 there is water plenty along the river floor. Only a couple of water sources along the ridge proper between White Pass and Blue Lake
this is so beautiful was the signage pretty good throughout the whole path?

I'd recommend taking a leaf out of hunters' social media etiquette and NOT disclosing locations explicitly by name.

@zingo_man also that "etiquette" you're suggesting is incredibly poor. Please consider uplifting a community next time instead.
