Yeah. You can buy these kind of trucks barebones/with just flatbed and start from there. It's a cheaper alternative compared to a built RV too (at least in my country)
In australia, we use solar hot water heaters for camping, which can range from a black coloured bag of water or PVC pipe network that can be hung from a tree for a shower, all the way to proper solar heat exchangers for camper vans. With this one, it looks like you could attach a thin tank to the back wall of the truck that can heat up in the sun during the day, and have hot water at night (or be assisted with elements to heat it up). Maybe even syphon heat from the engine bay during operation
This video has definitely improved my brand recognition and approval of Mitsubishi. They should do more collaborations with Chris Abroad and give him more stuff.
I love my Mitsubishi, 23 years old and has never missed a beat, original clutch even! I'd get a new car, but everyone I know with new ones have problems all the time and nuts to that!
I'm a bit surprised a prototype like this doesn't have solarpanels on the roof. Or a flow through heater for the shower water. Very nice form factor though, built on the base of a comercial vehicle.
Pretty sure those are the unfortunate compromise to allow that, admittedly impressive, dual-widescreen monitor setup. I'd imagine that without one of monitors, this could easily be quite luxurious on the waterworks side and/or allow extended kitchen/cold storage space - or anything really. Dunno how good idea the solar panels on that kind of folding cover would be but.. if there were one or two of those small, portable ones stashed somewhere on board, this wouldn't be a problem. I was actually thinking if they have any reasonably small and powerful "wind sails", those weird tubular wind generators in a form that'd be useful on this small scale.
You guys are so cute together, I'm really happy you both got together, you compliment each other. The camper/space is cool. Well worth taking it out and spending the night in front of mount Fuji.

More than that. They are actually staying on the campsite where the first episode takes place. I recreated the Rin & sleeping Nadeshiko picture there last month :D
Glad to see you out enjoying the outdoors an camping finally! As someone who lives full time in a self converted camper van in the US, I always love seeing the amazing designs they come up with in Japan
Any Mitsubishi workers reading this- adding a wheelchair lift as an option if you ever mass produce it would see so many sales! Myself and many other wheelchair users miss camping as so many campers aren’t made/ have the option to be accessible. Being so small, wouldn’t make much difference to most- once we’re up inside, it just means less space to get around. So long as you can get to the bed and the seat, you’re fine.
I was legitimately expecting Joey to pop out of the RV. XD But such a cool video! Such a vehicle would be perfect to make as my own house, it'd be amazing.
Hey, you're also camping in one of the spots featured in the manga Laid Back Camp! Nice. :) Hoping that compact tiny house/RV takes off. Wouldn't mind having one of those!
Amazing video!! From the editing to the story to showing off the van & all its features….all around great content. I’ve been interested in tiny houses and van renos for a while so i was hyped seeing this upload.
The shots, the editing, the writing, the sounds/bgm. I'm always so impressed by the quailty. It's so good that it's honestly a little distracting sometimes.
I really liked the cinematography part at 11:03 mark. Really spectacular view and I do not know how on earth you got such a great shot of Mount Fuji here. Cheers to more videos from Chris and Sharla. PS: Please get married REAL SOON!! We all look forward to it!
Interesting to watch camper/ vanlife in japan. It will be interesting to see how the prototype evolves into a fully functional camper vehicle. The current vehicle has some cool ideas, but ive seen it done better on other boxtrucks conversions, except for the raising side wall. that was cool, but needs a insect screen. I'd love to see what Mitsubishi does with the finished product.
The Mt Fuji view is priceless, esp the shot when the camera was above the clouds. Best thing about the RV is the side can be opened up & one can fully enjoy the outdoor while lounging in the RV. Unfortunately, the RV is too small though. If you've seen a few YT videos on some of the nice Western-made RVs out there, this one when closed is too claustrophobic. The bed is not big enough for 2, the bathroom is too small & I dunno, do you have to slide the toilet out or what. I believe the RV technology out there has already mastered how to have hot water for shower. Heating in the colder months and AC in the hot months are essential.
One thing worries me is safety concerns over the button feature shown that opens it from the outside. Hopefully it has a locking feature that can keep people from simply opening it whenever they like, like if your sleeping or left your belongings in it while you're away from it. Stay safe you two.
Ultimate production quality video as always Mr Chris!! One of the best out there for travel/infomatic videos around the world. You deserve all the success you have earned twice over. We all love you man. Keep up with the amazing content

More than that. They are actually staying on the campsite where the first episode takes place. I recreated the Rin & sleeping Nadeshiko picture there last month :D
That opening shot was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 this whole video and sharlas banter had SUCH Travel Channel energy, in the best way
You're doing a great job on the editing, keep it up man!
Love watching the amazing adventures of grouchy boy and sunshine girl!!!
I was legitimately expecting Joey to pop out of the RV. XD
But such a cool video! Such a vehicle would be perfect to make as my own house, it'd be amazing.
Love seeing Sharla in the videos! Brings great energy!
If this ever goes into production I hope it reaches the North American market, you guys make it look so fun!
0:14 One of the best opening shots I've seen in your videos!! You make such great videos
Can't wait for a more camping video with Sharla.
The idea is great. Love the quality of the video
Hey, you're also camping in one of the spots featured in the manga Laid Back Camp! Nice. :)
Hoping that compact tiny house/RV takes off. Wouldn't mind having one of those!
Japan does amazing things we just don't see in the EU/USA
Wow the production value of the intro sequence!
Thanks for the video, needed a break from all that magnificent doomscrolling I've been doing since 4am.
Amazing video!! From the editing to the story to showing off the van & all its features….all around great content. I’ve been interested in tiny houses and van renos for a while so i was hyped seeing this upload.
Quality editing once again! I love your videos and how fun and informative they are 😁
1:28 okay... okay.. i couldn`t be the only one screaming “Natsukiiiiiiiii!!!” 😅
Legend. Keep up the good work and, as always, stay safe.
Your show has more production quality than most shows on actual TV. Just Goes to show how damn good this channel is.
The shots, the editing, the writing, the sounds/bgm. I'm always so impressed by the quailty. It's so good that it's honestly a little distracting sometimes.
I love the videos with 2 of you in them and Chris you are a very lucky man.😂❤
I really liked the cinematography part at 11:03 mark. Really spectacular view and I do not know how on earth you got such a great shot of Mount Fuji here. Cheers to more videos from Chris and Sharla.
PS: Please get married REAL SOON!! We all look forward to it!
Quite astonishing how little I have to do with Japan yet how many of Chris’ videos are recommended and watched by me. And I love it
Interesting to watch camper/ vanlife in japan.
Lovely wholesome yootooba content. Gosh, Sharla is so lovely. I'm so happy for you guys. A round of applause for parasocial relationships 🎉
I really admire you Chris, i can see the commitment for always keep the quality of those videos up there and even beyond
One thing worries me is safety concerns over the button feature shown that opens it from the outside. Hopefully it has a locking feature that can keep people from simply opening it whenever they like, like if your sleeping or left your belongings in it while you're away from it. Stay safe you two.
Hit the like button within 33 seconds of the video starting. DAMN that was a smooth transition to the title card!! 👏🏼
Dude the production quality has increased so much. Makes being up at 1am worth it to watch. XD
Ultimate production quality video as always Mr Chris!! One of the best out there for travel/infomatic videos around the world. You deserve all the success you have earned twice over. We all love you man. Keep up with the amazing content
Great video Chris! Shame about that green screened mountain in the background.
the green screen work is craaazy in this one. great video!
Always fun to see you two being dopes on camera
Y'all are Just Adorable together, really enjoy when y'all are having fun with each other
Also, how Cute is this Capsule Cube on Wheels?!
The camera shots are insanely beautiful in this video!
