Bonita Boyd and the Flute Music of Samuel Adler

Please join us this Thursday, May 27 at 7:30 pm for the last event of the 2020-21 Solo Series, an evening with composer Samuel Adler and flutist Bonita Boyd, longtime colleagues at the Eastman School of Music. Bonnie will play three of Sam’s solo works: The Solo Sonata, Op. 24, which will be accompanied by artwork by Bonnie’s talented son Henrik Soderstrom; A Bonnie Tune, commissioned to celebrate Bonnie’s 35th year at Eastman in 2011, when it was premiered by Mindy Kaufman; and his most recent flute piece, Alone, Together: A Monologue for Solo Flute, premiered by Mimi Stillman last September. I’ll be chatting with Sam and Bonnie about how he writes for the flute and for particular flutists.
