Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

You should try experimenting with the “Rods from God” concept either in Trailmakers or in Scrap Mechanic

scrapman honestly is an engineer and tinkerer. he comes up with alot of stuff that ends up being super badass and useful. hes seriously gonna screw up some pirates now
There's a bug thing you can build which uses the old explosive cannon that sends them with near 0 bullet drop its kinda like this I would love to see him work that in to a plane it would be cool and good for ground fights and dog fights
I think you should angle your guns a bit downwards, so the reticles are aswell, because the bombs already start falling when being spawned in

@@legendaryblob8227 that could work, but I think that aiming the guns down is still more effective, since rotating the bays only increases the height of the bombs by a tiny amount
@@creeperlano7805 No, not _just_ the bomb bays. The whole piston assembly which also constitutes as part of the bomb gun.
@@anteshell the instability of the rotating parts would probably throw off the plane and/or the bombs a lot more
Scrapman is forever figuring out ways to "break" the game.
You know what will be a nice addition? A sort of bearing or a servo that turns based on the lock on on enemies and has its own reticle. So you can use that to make your own awesome weapons

sorry to say this but that will hardly work, since the lock on mechanism actually accounts for the weapon's bullet speed and bullet drop.
so the "Custom aiming reticle" needs to have tons of parameters for it to work at all.
@@bicuswang5149 ... All it needs is 2 parameters: Bullet drop in -seconds/meter- meters/second^2 and bullet speed in meters/second.. And if you want it to point straight at the target, you can have either a checkbox for that or just set the bullet drop to 0 and the bullet speed to a really big number.
And if you add a visualization of the predicted trajectory in build mode, then even if you don't exactly know what the values are, you can estimate them by guessing and checking the trajectory display vs the actual trajectory of the projectile.
@@nikkiofthevalley Wouldn't bullet drop be measured in m/s^2 (i.e. acceleration?)
If I was a circus performer, I'd never imagine myself playing a game that requires extreme dedication to turn a bomb into a high-speed linear projectile. However, this guy does.

I feel like you can fix the shaking by adding 2 more bomb guns so they cancel eachother out by having force applied to both sides of the plane at the same time
You should combine the pistons with the infinite bomber so you can shoot infinitely forward.
I would use so many of scrapmans designs if I had trailmakers

With the way those pistons yank the jet around, I wonder if you could use that to make an aircraft that can "juke turn" making it extremely difficult to shoot down.
Ive been watching your vids everyday for years now, and this may be my favorite concepts of all time. Amazing work scrap man, love the vids.

This guy is the Mumbo Jumbo of Trailmakers/Scrap Mechanic
You could also counteract the recoil from left and right if you added a second set of guns but had them fire at the same time but on opposite wings.
This was super dope, and wildly successful!! A possible improvement to mitigate the recoil shake during firing is to make both sets of guns/bombs? fire at the same time. Equal force on both side of the plane.
I wrote it down: :D - gate 1: No delay, Duration 0.12(all of them has this duration) - gate 2: Delay 0.28 - gate 3: Delay 0.51 - Gate 4: Delay 0.77. Hope this helps others in the same situation. :)

Some of my favorite videos are of scrapman trying to overcome what seems to be impossible odds. It’s very entertaining and satisfying when he overcomes the challenge!

Alright, Scrapman made a Borderlands 2 Nukem
I put this on a Trophy Truck design I have and its amazing, climbing to the top of the mountain in Treasure Island and mortar bombing the dunes below is so satisfying. It was hard to copy your timing though since I'm on Xbox and couldn't just grab it from the workshop, but I eventually figured it out and it works flawlessly. Now it's time to blow up my friends. Anyways, awesome creation ScrapMan! Keep it comin'.
*Idea:* a dogfight, but either opponent chooses a whacky build from the other person's previous videos that meets the agreed upon requirements.
You can make the rockets from the rocket launcher go super fast using the pistons.
Edit: another way to stabilize the plane when using piston launchers is to add a piston that fires backwards at the same time as the front, and add the proper weight.

Your videos are incredibly good at negating physical pain. I'm not joking, I had terrible stomach pain and pain killers didn't help at all, so I turned on UA-cam to put mind somewhere else and stumbled upon this video. It was so efficient that I can only describe the rest of the time before the arrival of the ambulance as "discomfort". It's something about your "flow" of narrative, it's so relaxing. it would be cool if someone made a jet with the piston friction thing so it can do a really quick kvochur bell maneuver
I think the solution to make that plane perfect is to add 2 more piston bomb bays that counter the effects of the first 2. So you got basically 2 pistons going forward and backwards, one on each side.
A very simple improvement would be to add another logic gate that holds down the trigger for the gates and bomb bays until all bombs have fired. This eliminates needing to hold down the trigger.

Could you add a logic gate that would stay on for a specified period of time, so you just have to tap the button?
But not doing so gives him the option to do a normal bombing run should he need to

The fisrt version of your bomb shooting plane where it twitched out is perfect for the weirdest evasive maneuvers since the one time you did it you switched from facing forward to facing left ( 13:48 ) just remove the bombs and you have an automatic movement cancelling dodge that will confuse other players and AI AA

I mean, you can try to do this, or you can use the system they game already gave you which they named "rockets".
But you seem to not quite grasp that pistons in TrailMakers are flimsy and violent movements make inertial wobbles happen. So what's happening is you're extending the pistons so fast that by the time the first bomb is released, the bay is in some kind of wibble at the end. But it's a very high speed, small distance, violent wibble. So the first bomb is being imparted the random velocity of that wibble, but the proceeding bombs are not. You'd need to pulse the pistons 4 times a second to get some kind of consistent non-standard result, but it'd always be random due to those violent wibble-wobbles.
The fact that the bomb bays were moving opposite of each other was what caused the spin

Very nice Scrapman, you should put 0.03 on the bomb bays since that is the time it takes for the piston to extend. I made an artillery gunship using piston cannons, check it out. I will take on your idea on using bomb bays too.
does it work correctly for you? can you write the characteristics of the modules? I have a problem with the second bomb that just falls.

Video idea: Give this concept to other creators that they can strap onto planes and have a dogfight. Or instead of multiple planes fighting each other, they fight an airship or boat that the other team has created.
Use the weird bomb tossing result you first got for an artillery piece, like a mortar, and then make it so all of the bombs are thrown like that, then sneakily introduce it in a tank as part of your next vs against yzui, where you can have a tank with multiple weapons, so long as it doesn’t use aim assist weapons other than rockets, so gunpowder cannons, rockets, and bombs. Tank vs tank, tank vs car, tank vs armored car, tank vs self propelled gun.
I wanna see this on multiplayer Monday!! Air battles with this plane changes the game.

the thing about delays in Unity, which is a game engine that Trailmakers is using, is that it has several different Update() functions one runs every frame and will vary due to framerate and there is another one that always runs at 50 fps even if your game runs slower. Devs might have used the first Update() function i’ve described for bomb logic thus making them inconsistent

19:05 its called a "deflection shot" and yep, its insane, some ww2 pilots were masters of it though, able to compensate for range (bullet drop) and speed (target lead) on deflections at long ranges such that gun camera footage wouldn't even show what they were shooting at.

So if you run the double cannons on one side and mirror that on the other ,that should negate the jerking . The momentum would switch to a forward backward momentum only
i would love to see this with two on each side, it might fix the imbalance of force put off by the 1-2-1-2 jabbing pattern

Yo I got an idea, a plane that uses blocks as projectiles. Lets say maybe there's like 4 or 5 fist-shaped projectiles hidden in the plane that get pushed out with pistons, and detach with the detachable blocks.

Scrap man should invite his friends to use his new boom tube and they all use his design but they make their own vehicles. That would be an epic battle.
a minor fix for the shaking side to side when you fire could be to put identical pistons on the opposite side of the vehicle to counter the force sort of like how a helicopter has a second rotor moving opposite to the other rotor
A competition where you have to make custom weapons (like this bomb gun in this video) and fight against each other would be pretty cool I think.
Artillery barrage tank with this concept would be amazing

My first thought once you got pistons to work with yeeting them was to just have 4 pistons that go off one at a time with each bomb
At 12:38 , the firing delay reminds me of the Allies' Pacifier FAV (Forward Artillery Vehicle) from Command and Conquer Red Alert 3's Uprising DLC, it even has a similar bullet drop and spread now that I mention it. That design could make for some interesting artillery challenges.
Now that I listen to it again, it even has the same firing sound (only lower pitched than the Pacifier FAV)
