Otto clearly has decent footwork, else he can't possibly hang with Finland's highest ranked player. It just that Otto doesn't bend down like most high level players so it looks like he is not moving.
I love it when popular yt channels open new ones cause it means they'll see my comment. I am hell inspired by you guys and you create super cool entertaining videos, love you three so damn much
It’s so hard to play ‘your game’ against top players. At first look I thought nerves or intimidation were putting Otto off his game, but Benedek had so many shots that drew Otto into forced errors. He knows where you like to take risks and baits it so hard. Still great determination coming back in game 2 I think it was.
That extra pace and spin Benedek generates was rushing Otto into his shots. Unless you are practicing against players of his standard all the time that's going to be difficult to counter as you've tuned your game to play against lesser talents.
At first I thought Otto was just playing bad, but after watching the match a second time, this was really just a masterful performance from Benedek. He did an extremely good job of never giving Otto the shots he’s looking for, and that’s why Otto looked so different compared to other matches.
He didn't believe he could win. He has played many times against olah and it's clear that they're on completely different levels. Olah plays professionally in france or germany, otto has even clearly gained 5-10kg during the pandemic, lowering his chances of winning against him even further.
@@ravishsood8818 of course, I just explained why he felt that messing around was the right choice. It's mentally tougher to lose when you have given your all compared to fooling around. He felt that he would lose either way, so why bother playing seriously.
How do we know it wasn't like.. his 14th game of the day and he wasn't exhaust or something? At the very beginning his sweater his full of sweat; this clearly wasn't his first game that day. I feel like a very dedicated Otto playing his 1st or 2nd game of the day could've beaten him.

@@guetali Exactly, I remember in one match spectators were actually booing Monfils just because he was playing off rhythm. At high levels, everyone has their own style. BTW, I live in Toulouse (not french though).
Is he really? The difference in playstyle/ skill(?) is so much different from the world's top 20 matches I sometimes watch. This looks so much more frivolous, like first division tabletennis or something. Apparently they can hold themselves against the world's best! Or is the world top that small? In tennis the #100 can sometimes surprise top 10 players.
@@Funkytrip73 No, it's because they're playing in the Finnish Championships, and Finland is a tiny country and Benedek is just relatively good for a small country like Finland.
@@Funkytrip73 Yes, he does need to play world matches. I think there is a large difference in skill because the ITTF intentionally inflates more points/competitions to Westerners. Otherwise, Asians would completely dominate and there would be lack of variety. Another reason is probably that Benedek isn't playing his best because it's a relatively small competition. Nevertheless, I don't think he deserves his ranking. If you search him up, you can see he gets obliterated in the games with the top 20.
Good match! Even though I've only been a pongfinity subscriber a few days, I hate to see Otto lose (although Benedek is obviously a great player and seems like a nice guy).
