It’s interesting to see the difference between one tricks in league and mains in fighting games. Because in fighting games there often is a consensus that every character is so unique that it’s best for you to stick with one character for life because switching to others is just halting your learning curve.
Overall I think the individual mechanics of a fighting game character are more complex and also they don’t get locked out by getting picked by the enemy or banned
the pick/ban dynamic is what really changes it. You won't be able to play every single game with that one champ, if the champ is getting banned or picked by the enemy.
@@lolsnowball_ wdym dantes and bausfs lol. They're still godaweful OTP's and the worst example of players for the community. People just give them a break because of their"HAHA LOL" content and that's all there is too it.
@@LeMiooo yea, you don't watch them if you think they are still one tricks, Dantes leans more towards being a 1trick, but baus has 4 other champs he plays well enough, obviously his sion is still the best in the world
For me, finding my OTP is like having a really good married life and understanding the flaws of your partner lol. Used to be a mage main who spammed Veigar and Velkoz but I found Kled whose visual design and thematic was so good. Despite liking Kled's theme, I didn't appreciate his gameplay at firsdt because I was a mage main and I was a coward who wants long distance. Even with my cowardice, it didn't stop me from practicing Kled and now I finally learned how to be more aggressive thanks to him. Now I ditched my mages and focus solely on Kled. I don't care if being OTP is bad because I'm proud to be one and I play the game to have genuine fun with Kled no other.
I'm by no means a one trick, but I used to play a LOT of brand, so when someone suggested I try out Lissandra I didn't understand her initially. Once I played her like I play brand, she made so much more sense. I agree with what you said about being able to occasionally transfer knowledge across from your one trick to another similar kit.
Before I played League, my thing in other games actually was that I used many different things, and could play almost any pick in the game with decent success. That often lead to a love of off-meta tactics that I felt were strong, which is something I still enjoy a lot today. A few months after starting to play League, I began to play Tristana and immediately found that it was my favorite way to play the game, and one tricked her for months straight after that. There have been breaks I've taken from playing her, and I still have a few pocket picks when playing different roles, but I would still consider myself a one trick, just not quite as hardcore as some others. The interesting thing is that this one trick style has no found it's way into every other game I play. I would even go as far as to say I used to feel pretty annoyed by the idea of OTPs, thinking it is boring to play as and against. One match of Tris changed my mind on it completely.
Wow bro thanks for the perspective! Why do you think you haven't OTPd in other games? Maybe it's because of the lack of character selection, where as in LoL there are so many characters that maybe you found "the one"
@snowballbarrage My other main game before I started playing League (just over a year ago) was Destiny 2, and generally other shooters. I think when it was because in shooter games, I never saw the value of maining something. My logic was probably, "They're all guns, so aiming is the same skill," for all of them, without considering the deep things that I understand now when playing those same shooters, and one tricking things in them now. I now understand the depth of range, knowing your exact kill time, etc.. I think the reason why League changed my mind is because every champion is so different. Twitch is very similar to Tris, resets, attack speed bonuses, and even building up stacks for a big burst of damage. But it feels completely different from Tristana. I originally started playing her because I just found her quite fun, and her character was likeable enough. Now, I love her character design and voice line. And I'm sure it's not just me using the new champion icons Riot added to signify their OTP, haha. I think League is just a lot deeper than other games, and it showed me that digging deep into learning one thing is the most fun I could have, whereas in other games I hadn't had a reason to dig like I do now. 😃
Yeah definitely LoL and MOBA's in general have a much higher skill floor - skill ceiling because there is so much information to grasp at all levels of gameplay, so it's deep. @@SupaSpaceBunnies
Me playing one champion feels more like this. I've spent years mastering him and I've understood my matchups so I'm confident in my abilities. I feel comfortable with every movement and decision I make so I'm more focused on who I'm playing against not necessarily the champion they play because I already know what I need to do against that champion but I don't know what insane play the person will make and being evenly matched or outmatched is exciting because I play top lane/solo lane and it's almost always a complete 1v1. Only 2 things cause a loss, they are better or their champion is just stronger and it's pretty rare that I run into a busted champion that can't be dominated with game knowledge and champion mastery.
Teemo one trick here. I absolutely adore his playstyle and the hatred I get from both the enemy and my own team. I am also a Fill OTP so Teemo goes every where in every position. It's downright magical how angry people can get just because I locked in Teemo ADC or Teemo Jungle against someone who counters me. Yet somehow in spite of going 2/10/15 I still have the highest damage at the end of the game because of how well placed the shrooms are and everyone had to buy oracles for me. Hut two three four my fluffy brethren!
Vel main here: I would prefer to support a random Teemo over a random Ezreal or Kai'sa. A Kai'sa tends to run in even when behind, dying while trying to retreat. An Ezreal tends to play so safe he won't ever autoattack a champion unless going in for a kill. Doesn't zone the enemy. A Teemo has been in a top lane and knows to act optimally according to what the enemy is doing.
i enjoy other champs, but being able to have my one trick that i know i’m good at, that i know i will always perform is something i value a lot when climbing ranked. going into the game in an extreme comfort state that i know i won’t mess up personally does so much to winning a game. i want to play other champs more but when i lose on them i can’t help but think i could win much easier on my main instead of another champ. so i stick to one tricking in ranked, it’s not worth the ego or lp to say “i have a diverse champ pool,” cuz 99% of other players are only gonna see my rank and not my pool.
thanks for the comment bro! you should do whatever you want since league of legends is a video game for fun, if you dont feel like learning other characters then stick with the one you already know, but if you really want to learn others without losing lp you could always play norms or make a new account
As a former Asol One Trick with 1M points I just wanna say, just create a new champion dont delete other champs just cause they're not popular hes not even the same champ anymore.
@snowballbarrage Sadly no, but I think he looks cool. I'm just not a big fan of his new playstyle. It's completely different from his old one and feels boring imo.
I think about this too. I used to play random champs and I was good with them, I could play it like they were my main, but then I started to use Udyr and became a otp. Suddenly I couldn't play other champs, it feels weird like I'm new to League. I play champs that I used to be good and now I'm trash with them
And when the champion that you OneTrick gets reworked you quit the game indefinitely, that’s the magic of it. People onetrick so they can quit the game un willingly.
Yes, games without Katarina feel so weird and like a different game. One difference from other OTPs and me is that, I do enjoy playing other characters only if I'm vsing a Katarina. So long as she is in the game I'm happy.
Fun fact: in season 8, if I excluded my Shaco matches, my win rate was 14%. In season 11, Shaco was getting banned so much I had nearly double Elise matches than I had Shaco's. But this time around, my Elise's WR was 55% and my Shaco's was 54%.
1 champion you should know everything on him every limit and what to do when 2 champs you should have mechanics on them another 2 for backup like if you get autofilled in a role u might not play alot its like in real life a hand full of friends
Your take on onetricks being onetricks in any other game is spot on. I'm a Brand OTP and in every smash game I mained Captain Falcon. The reason is simple, I just love fire.
The whole thing about the game not being worth playing if you're not on your OTP is soooooo accurate. I mained Irelia back in season 5-7, then she got reworked and I've more or less discontinued playing the game. I still pop in here and there to play with friends but otherwise I've basically quit ranked.
same here, i was katarina otp, after rework i never took game seriously anymore, i still play here and there (not rankeds) and i smash with new katarina just as good but the feeling is not there anymore
There is another reason for OTPing: Lack of time. I really enjoy Lillia as a jungle pick. Her design and unique play style locked me in LoL. I'd like to explore more champions, but with my 40 matches per split (it will be even less in upcoming seasons), it is not possible to learn new champions.
I started as an OTP Poppy jungle player then slowly branched out to play her top, mid and support to get a feel for new play styles before picking new champions to try playing. Being a one trick pony is good to start learning the game and get the basics down
A very interesting video, I'm so glad your video popped in my recomendations. Keep it up man you really explained a lot of things, I've become an OTP Sett since the day it released and whenever my friends ask me "Idk how you can keep playing Sett after so many hours/years, I'll get bored right away after a couple matches" because even if it's a relatively simple champion I absolute LOVE playing him, I love the design, his personality, his abilities, his story and many times I've said "Wow, I really wouldn't be playing league if Sett didn't exist. Because even though I've managed to get to Diamond 2 back in seasons where you had to play promos I'm 100% sure that I've would've climbed a LOT easier or higher If I played something like Darius, Renekton, or other meta champs
I am an anivia OTP, but I play league only casually in between if I got time for it. The origin why I picked anivia was because as a beginner I played Lux alot but she often got picked before me or got banned and I needed an alternative. From the perspective of a casual player it makes no sense to put hours and hours in the game learning all the champions that exist in the game. This is my opinion at least.
its not really about "making sense" out of anything, the reason people play either one champ or all the champs is because thats the way they have the most fun! i also played anivia a lot, support specifically
im a fiddlesticks one trick and i definitely agree. I can practically play anywhere with him but if I switch to even like nocturne who is pretty similar my skill drops significantly
I call myself a fake one trick when I'm in that period of time of playing just a single champion for weeks or months straight (including watching high elo and tips and tricks vids with the champion to really get to know the champion) and then once I feel like I've got a good grasp I'll spam something else.
im not a otp (aram warrior) but the more i got into league content the more i learned ppl dont like OTPs and never understood why. some ppl just "click" with certain champs, they feel more comfortable, confident, and just have more fun.
In my opinion 1 tricks are not good at LoL, no matter their rank. If you can only win as 1 champ, you're not a great League player, you're a great (insert champ) player. I 1 tricked Shaco for a while and did great, but I realized I sucked at the game. Look at the highest ranked players, none are 1 tricks, the literal number 1 player currently is a guy who plays only off-meta picks. He is truly great at League because he can win no matter what, he doesn't need a crutch. He understands the actual game.
I hit challenger one tricking nunu, and I'm confident I can hit challenger on jungle without nunu. Also on other roles like support or mid. Point is, the general game knowledge you collect after being good at a certain character doesn't go away if you switch champs
@@lolsnowball_ But it does. Until you actually hit Challenger on other champs you may not realize it. You may think you could hit Challenger without Nunu, until you go against Fakers who are God's on all champs or you face a 1 trick who isn't branching out
no one is a good on all champs, also respectfully do you think I haven't performed/carried on other champs IN challenger matches? people banned out nunu all the time, even if I was offrole @@TheGreatChrisB
I've kinda ended up a Hwei OTP in recent weeks and that bit about not wanting to play the game if he's banned or taken is so true. He's the only reason I still play this game.
The only time i ever really considered becoming an otp was when i had my ivern phase I just love how cheeky you can play as him, like quickly stealing the enemy blue buff into a level 1 top gank, his unique jungle clear mechanics, his personality, daisy, the fact i don't have to carry to be useful with him being a supporter and also how back then he was the only one who could share buffs On top of that he was simply unique and rare But most of all, playing ivern i simply couldn't get mad at the game, he was simply too cheerful and positive
I feel like one tricking for me is mainly aesthetic, and I do like one tricking in every game I come across. I usually take a look at the character pool try then pick out a few characters that I think match my vibe and then try it out, if one of them matches my vibe and play style imma keep playing it. For me I was split between Twisted Fate, Zac, Braum and Shaco and I ended up being a shaco otp. He just seems like a sadistic villain and that is the vibe I love, like Doflamingo from One Piece or Hazama from BlazBlue, just torturing and playing with food before their inevitable demise that you stalled because it was VERY amusing is something I enjoy (in game).
I feel u on this, when i first started i stuck with leona and pyke then i found senna and learned the ins and outs of league through senna up to 200k mastery. then for whatever reason i decided to play shaco and now i otp him. Ive never left support before that and now im almost at half a mil mastery and shaco is just so ungodly fun that i dont mind losing even getting stomped by the enemy team, all i care about now is if i get to pull a funny play with shaco every once in a while lmao.
I otp vayne since season 5, and i made a new account and climbed from silver to plat 4 in a month only with vayne. It's the second time i climbed to plat with 2 accounts and i love it! It's fair to say learning one champion can be so rewarding if you are activley improving. I noticed when i play kai sa or Jinx i play much worse than other champs but i think it's okay. It's worth it. League is not only about mechanics after all. It's about other factors that make you good like Macro, farm, keeping your cool when it feels impossible to win.
I used to be a Voli OTP because of his Q, it was just so fun to throw enemies behind me into my team to have them help me clean up, or throw them into the tower and trap them out. then they reworked him and I just didn't vibe with the rework and stopped playing the game
Im like a 2 trick and its kinda odd in this game i have like 3.5 mill mastery on gnar and 2.1 fiora i feel kinda in a paradox where everyone sterotypes my champs as afzyx7c7gc8ggxs and french i straight up get treated different depending on who i play
I'm a Darius OTP, (sorry melees) and the frequency of players complaining about him is always funny. My champion is completely helpless with one or two intentional picks (think cc or kiting) and very reliant on flash for a late game fight. But I play him because I enjoy dueling over winning the actual game, i don't one trick to win, I one trick for fun. TLDR: I'm goin in
One CON that you didn't mention is that if Riot decides to rework it (unless changes are small) you'll effectively will need to learn everything from scratch.
Interesting Video, I actually tried OTP'ing as a way to get to my target rank last Season and found it quite helpful. The part I didnt even thoguht about before which I think is really cool is that some People just OTP more or less every Game instead of this being a case by case choice.
it's like choosing a character and then identifying with it after you enjoyed the game. also there is the problem with decision making when you have to choose from those over 9000 figurines each time you want to play a game. that's eating away willpower from the start. i mean if this is more troublesome than housework you probably don't even need to procrastinate then.
I used to occasionally play with a one trick singed. Same proxy style every single game. The most single minded and lone wolf style ever. He would never play as a team, but was extremely good at knowing singeds limits. Constantly thought he was too deep or too cocky and he would somehow end up with a 2/3 vs 1 success. It was so frustrating as he was the most inadaptable person ever when it came to not doing what he just did every game. Having him on a good day was glorious as he was just as oppressive to the enemies as something like a fed split pushing tryndamere. Though on a bad day, he was pure toxic. Safe to say not many people play with him anymore.
As an ARAM fanatic, I have a TOP FIVE champs who I will try to play at all costs, whether re-rolling, trading, or sniping someone on the board for more than .02 seconds. These champs have all found their own special niches in my heart., and the NEXT FIVE fulfill these criteria as well, just not as strong as the top five. Then I have the NEXT TWENTY, who I will not hesitate to play unless I can get one of the TOP TEN champs. THE NEXT TWENTY after those are champs I generally feel good enough about playing to not get mad because I couldn't get one of thirty champs I'd rather be playing. If I have two good players on my team, I can usually make one of them pop off, and if I can help a teamie get 20K, I feel like I've done some good. If I can help two get to 20K, that's typically a W. Anything beyond that, and I'm down to hoping I have three good players on the team, cuz I probably won't be one of them...
End of the day, do what brings you enjoyment. If it's one tricking, go for it. If it is changing your character like a DND player who begs his DM to kill him to play someone else, go for it. It's a game; have fun
im a fiddle support otp, i have an ego and like feeling important so his kit just clicked with me, fear to disable the carry then ill take the credit, drain to keep me alive, reap is very satisfying to land in the early game and silences casters and the ult is the best in the game, land a good ult then win the teamfight and everyone will be praising you
i think a big factor in being an OTP is being new to the game. im a zilean otp myself and i only started playing last year, otping makes it easier to learn the game as it allows you to focus on the match rather than learning a champ
exactly, and otping as a new player also allows you to learn matchups which in turn can lead to you having an easier time if you ever decide to change ur otp (i otp pant and know every top matchup and know my hard matchups inside out like i have a 93% wr on sion whose my biggest counter almost)
I'm so glad I played exclusively Thresh for 3 years since I can transfer my skill in landing hooks to other support champs with hooks or just aby champ with lots of skillshots except Ezreal for some reason
There's this one thing tho, i can play every champion in the game well, even after taking a break from the game, i perform decently, i have been playing for 10 years so i know the ins and outs of every champion's kit as i have at least 50+ games on most of them, but Evelynn is still my go to pick whenever i get the chance to play her
I'm becoming an Aphelios OTP becuase I have a weak side for characters with multiple skills/weapons/fighting styles. Because of that I tried being a Hwei main but the champ didnt get me that much even do I was a Master rank Mid laner in Wild Rift. Then I saw Aphelios, his weapons, his complexity, and his neglection in soloq and it was love at first sight. I'm still lvl 30 at the PC and improving some things but as long as I have fun playing Aphelios, I will be proud of being an OTP
@@lolsnowball_ I personally think he just SEEMS overwhelming, when I start playing him I did pretty decently, what is holding me back is my fundamentals since it's much more dificult to be mecanically good at the PC than it is in Wild Rift
ah yeah i mean wild rift is tweaked so that the game is more simple. i think the hardest part about aphelios is managing his gun switches and using them to your advantage @@arthurfernandes3256
my favorite champion is ashe and by a lot, i play literally only her. I do have backups though in case she's picked or banned, because i don't like dodging. i figured out that i like attack speed a lot so i added kai'sa, xayah and jinx to my pool, but still play ashe when she's available. however, i do still enjoy other champions like enchanters when i play normals with friends, and occasionally try other roles because a champion i had in aram seemed cool. not sure if that disqualifies me from being an otp
As an ex Missfortune OTP that only played her for 2 years straight nonstop, from 2018-2020, I just like seeing meta-loving players lose against a meta-weak pick
A lot of people think I'm a one trick Alistar because of the plays I make on him and I've been compared even to Alicopter. While Alistar is my favorite support to play, i can still play other champs in the supp/jg role at a decent level. As long as you're having fun and trying your best, I don't think it matters who you play.
Accurate. I’ve one tricked Katarina the whole time I played this game, and even in other mobas I first onetricked 1 character for years before finally branching out.
Simply find 2-3 lanes you can play with 2-3 characters you could play for each lane. Even better if a champ can off lane a second lane. This way you have a limited pool to maximize time played and learning the champ whilst also not being forced into one champ and lane.
if youre suggesting this for the purpose of ranking up, in my opinion it's the far opposite of the truth - if you want to rank up the most efficiently you should only play 2-3 characters and stick to one role, dodge whenever you get filled
@snowballbarrage not quite for ranked, I've just found this to work for me and my 4 stack. With everyone wanting to play different characters, we don't stay in one lane and will hop around. I mostly play mid and top so I have been playing alot of jayce
I am not a one trick but I have times when i play only one champ for 100 games and dont want to play when it is banned or picked. After a while tho i see another champ that i like to play (because of a UA-cam video or because i liked it before.) and then i only play that champion. In between those faces i sometimes play 10 matches with 10 different Champs until one sticks and the circle continues.
@@lolsnowball_ shyvana top is fun and the only thing i disagree with you is that people hate otp's. But i think this is a regional problem, i see why people would hate us like you said on the cons but, in my region (Brazil) we are loved. Well, at least, most of the time 🤔
yone otp here (with some pantheon incase he gets banned), i used to play lots of support (with a bit of jungle here and there) until i got tired of team diff, i sucked at laning as him but i love his lategame so i tried playing him on the jungle and it's such a fun experience, he's usually a follow up but i can engage when playing jungle as him
i dont understand how one of my friends is the pure opposite and doesnt have a main he has mains/otps in other games but not league like the person who commented about fire, im just really drawn towards bird themes and some of my most played are swain anivia rakan and xayah. sometimes in other games where theres extensive freedom on characters, i refuse to play if there isnt a choice for something birdlike even if it hardly matters though sometimes i dont care? i dont care who i main in legends of runeterra even though swain and anivia are there. it's such a weird phenomenon. much like how im drawn to hwei? my playstyle in games are usually aggro or battlemage, im drawn to birds... why do i like a depressed artillery mage artist? really well done video, i liked your discussion on otp despite alternatives. i think its really interesting how people just dont wanna play if they dont have their champ.
I'd also add that some one tricks keep playing their champ out of spite. I personnally play Amumu and I complain A LOT about his weaknesses but I keep otp'ing him because no one's challenger as an otp Amumu and I want to change that and I feel like many otp's on weak champs feel the same.
imo one tricks are always the one complaining about how weak their champ is, and its because they know exactly whats wrong with their character but often its just exhausting and coping
Another thing that I noticed is that there are some people that one trick a certain style, me for example, I really like fast champions, not dashes, but movement speed, because of that I one tricked Rammus for half of my League years and Udyr for the other half, and I pocket pick champs like nunu and hecarim, I don't know why but pressing ghost and running at the enemy team dodging all of their skillshots is so satisfying to me, and somehow I still reached masters almost getting grandmaster this year, another example would be a friend of mine that only plays mechanically difficult champions just because he likes to spend the time mastering it and expressing his skill. 🐻
@@lolsnowball_ yes you said it yourself. "Some", certainly not all doctors are doing their job with only money in their mind. You are not going to study 8+ years on something which doesn't interest you at all, just for money. Not only that, but working insane stress jobs like doctors without loving it at all is almost impossible. Certainly, there are exceptions. But this is actually aside from what I was trying to say. "Why do onetricks exist?" Is equivalent to saying "why do doctors have specializations" because it makes it possible to focus on one part of the human body/game which is more effective than trying to understand the whole human body/play all champs in the game. And just because it's possible as well
i have the opesite problem. as some one with a lot of mastery 7 champs i always try to force my self to otp a champ and thena after a while i just get bored and switch. ofc this means that i wil always stay in a lower rank but for it is the most fun.
The only reason I ever see anyone hate OTPs specifically is the dodging. No one wants their 30 minute queue ruined by a bunch of otps dodging when their champ gets banned or picked (or countered)
Why dodge if the enemy team pick your champ? I simple pick a counter pick since i know all the ins and outs of my champ. I basically stomp every time I play against my main
its not only about knowing how to play against your main, you also have to physically be used to accomplishing the mechanics of other champs - if you think you can just pick up a counter out of nowhere you'll just take a fat stinky L
In Soul Calibur III I always played Cassandra or SSophitia, both gladiator with similar play style and abilities. Now in League I only play Ahri and recently a give a chance to Seraphine and Gwen, but I don't feel satisfy if I don't play Ahri, there isn't another champion like her in League.
This is very accurate, if you are main Lux you can switch to Morgana and Seraphine. But if you are main Ahri... there's nothing like Ahri, if she's banned you are playing other gamestyle but nothing similar to her, and that sucks when you are used to play the game in a certain way and you cannot.
Okay like I resonate with this video cause I Otp Sett and play talon religiously but it's gotten to the point where I don't even like top lane anymore because of how hard it is to play against some of the champs, so I play ADC SETT because of how different you have to play and now I can't go back top lane or I'll lose to all the meta picks, i'm an Otp bot sett player it's a dark point.😭😭😭
@@lolsnowball_ I have but I never really liked running tank sett, always wanted to be the one to get the kills so I tried adc and found it works better than trying non tank on top and tank on support. Might try heartsteel sett supp with an aphelios when the skin comes out for the bit though
@@lolsnowball_ Never really liked mid sett since it's usually filled with casters and disengage, but it's a nice counter to Yone or Yasuo if my mid gets countered. But then again that's why i have talon as my backup character since I actually like his playstyles. I've tried to make jungle work but setts clear is so bad without stride or drinker so I just get mega gapped due to speed, though his ult is more useful than Jarvans if I use him jungle imo.
"Would you order from McDonalds if you knew your favourite order was discontinued?" me who stopped going to maccies after they discontinued my favourite order (chicken legend) and also is a OTP. Logic checks out 👍
For players under d1 i'd say its best to one trick, because you learn a lot of the fundamentals off the role a whole lot faster than if you were to swap characters every so often and have to relearn their kit.
As someone who had 500 games on kayn in s10 (norms mostly) with kayn being my most played in every role but support (he was second) and after the gradual nerfs to rhaast I’ve slowly stoped playing him for other assassin/drain tanks and eventually settling on samira nilah as they play similarly to kayn (when I played him Bot). Tho now I mostly play whatever just for fun instead of otping
I literally otp in everygame, idk why but gives me results. In overwatch i reaches top 500 with only dva, and in league masters with ahri (old and nerfed ahri), now i started to play league again and the new ahri is PERFECT to me. The reset in the r was a change i were saying years ago, like that champ needs it. I think i have 4millions of mastery points with all my accounts
For me I love playing Yuumi. I enjoy to aim and stun them. Sometimes the enemys are smart enough and then it gets even more interesting. Or some long range skillshot behind the enemy tower and bam. Instant happyness.
it does actually. Not exactly a typical stun, but the Q is a slow down(-20% slow 1sec) on contact and the R is slowing down 10% every hit(5 times so ideally 50%). And + exhaust is a powerfull combie @@lolsnowball_
I feel like one trick has broadened into just "I main this one champ" nowadays with how I see people use it. I pretty much only played GP for 3 years, but I'm at a point where I like trying new characters and roles a ton. Playing characters who are hard matchups for GP really made me better at him.
I started as an OTP amumu just because i thought that it was an absolutely sh1tty champ, and i just went "ay what if i only play this mf until i know every trick with this green boi"

Gotta live lissandra, she is amazing

Hut two three four my fluffy brethren!
teemo is unironically one of those champs that can viably be in any role
I can’t belive teemo one tricks exist, how sad your life must be
Vel main here: I would prefer to support a random Teemo over a random Ezreal or Kai'sa.

Suddenly I couldn't play other champs, it feels weird like I'm new to League. I play champs that I used to be good and now I'm trash with them
udyr is really unique so its understandable that you lost your touch on other champs
And when the champion that you OneTrick gets reworked you quit the game indefinitely, that’s the magic of it. People onetrick so they can quit the game un willingly.

Point is, the general game knowledge you collect after being good at a certain character doesn't go away if you switch champs

do u think hes broken
The only time i ever really considered becoming an otp was when i had my ivern phase
I just love how cheeky you can play as him, like quickly stealing the enemy blue buff into a level 1 top gank, his unique jungle clear mechanics, his personality, daisy, the fact i don't have to carry to be useful with him being a supporter and also how back then he was the only one who could share buffs
On top of that he was simply unique and rare
But most of all, playing ivern i simply couldn't get mad at the game, he was simply too cheerful and positive
why didnt u become a one trick?
I feel like one tricking for me is mainly aesthetic, and I do like one tricking in every game I come across. I usually take a look at the character pool try then pick out a few characters that I think match my vibe and then try it out, if one of them matches my vibe and play style imma keep playing it. For me I was split between Twisted Fate, Zac, Braum and Shaco and I ended up being a shaco otp. He just seems like a sadistic villain and that is the vibe I love, like Doflamingo from One Piece or Hazama from BlazBlue, just torturing and playing with food before their inevitable demise that you stalled because it was VERY amusing is something I enjoy (in game).
i play zac too
In game btw

Simply find 2-3 lanes you can play with 2-3 characters you could play for each lane. Even better if a champ can off lane a second lane. This way you have a limited pool to maximize time played and learning the champ whilst also not being forced into one champ and lane.
if youre suggesting this for the purpose of ranking up, in my opinion it's the far opposite of the truth - if you want to rank up the most efficiently you should only play 2-3 characters and stick to one role, dodge whenever you get filled

like the person who commented about fire, im just really drawn towards bird themes and some of my most played are swain anivia rakan and xayah. sometimes in other games where theres extensive freedom on characters, i refuse to play if there isnt a choice for something birdlike even if it hardly matters
though sometimes i dont care? i dont care who i main in legends of runeterra even though swain and anivia are there. it's such a weird phenomenon. much like how im drawn to hwei? my playstyle in games are usually aggro or battlemage, im drawn to birds... why do i like a depressed artillery mage artist?
really well done video, i liked your discussion on otp despite alternatives. i think its really interesting how people just dont wanna play if they dont have their champ.
your comment highlights whats so cool about character customization in video games - and thanks a lot for enjoying the video!
I'd also add that some one tricks keep playing their champ out of spite. I personnally play Amumu and I complain A LOT about his weaknesses but I keep otp'ing him because no one's challenger as an otp Amumu and I want to change that and I feel like many otp's on weak champs feel the same.
imo one tricks are always the one complaining about how weak their champ is, and its because they know exactly whats wrong with their character but often its just exhausting and coping

wonder why 😍😍
Some people simply find fulfillment in mastery rather than simply winning or having fun with variety
Woah no way it's snowball barrage the x pip, 1 shadow ice polaris spell from Wizard101. Thanks for carrying me through Lemuria old friend
Honostly this question is equivalent to asking why doctors have specializations
nah i disagree, some doctors specialize for money not fun
And just because it's possible as well
i think its a cool comparison@@IOEUIE
i have the opesite problem. as some one with a lot of mastery 7 champs i always try to force my self to otp a champ and thena after a while i just get bored and switch. ofc this means that i wil always stay in a lower rank but for it is the most fun.
don't try forcing a playstyle that doesnt work for you! if you get bored, youre not the type of person to otp and thats chill
Can’t be a one trick if you main Viego
ermm itsh technically every champion
cringe
Preach
Im sorry people didnt get the joke lol
Good video! I did not know people hated OTP’s that much haha
thanks! maybe people dont outright hate otps, but in my experience its a targeted point if youre getting flamed
The only reason I ever see anyone hate OTPs specifically is the dodging. No one wants their 30 minute queue ruined by a bunch of otps dodging when their champ gets banned or picked (or countered)
the only ppl in a 30 min queue r in challenger
Had a friend OTP the cat. He literally ran it down if he had the think anymore lmfao
what da fleep
@snowballbarrage fr he only played yuumi support for several years. By the end if he was toplane he genuinely ran it down because he'd lost competence
Now in League I only play Ahri and recently a give a chance to Seraphine and Gwen, but I don't feel satisfy if I don't play Ahri, there isn't another champion like her in League.
ahri is very unique because she has aspects of mobilility, assassin, and control mage options in her kit - good choice
I was a Master Aurellion Sol One trick pre rework but it doesn’t feel the same anymore so I had to drop :(
i feel so bad for aurelion players
This is very accurate, if you are main Lux you can switch to Morgana and Seraphine. But if you are main Ahri... there's nothing like Ahri, if she's banned you are playing other gamestyle but nothing similar to her, and that sucks when you are used to play the game in a certain way and you cannot.
Okay like I resonate with this video cause I Otp Sett and play talon religiously but it's gotten to the point where I don't even like top lane anymore because of how hard it is to play against some of the champs, so I play ADC SETT because of how different you have to play and now I can't go back top lane or I'll lose to all the meta picks, i'm an Otp bot sett player it's a dark point.😭😭😭
have u tried sett support?
@@lolsnowball_ I have but I never really liked running tank sett, always wanted to be the one to get the kills so I tried adc and found it works better than trying non tank on top and tank on support. Might try heartsteel sett supp with an aphelios when the skin comes out for the bit though
what about mid lane?@@sorroren2711
@@lolsnowball_ Never really liked mid sett since it's usually filled with casters and disengage, but it's a nice counter to Yone or Yasuo if my mid gets countered. But then again that's why i have talon as my backup character since I actually like his playstyles. I've tried to make jungle work but setts clear is so bad without stride or drinker so I just get mega gapped due to speed, though his ult is more useful than Jarvans if I use him jungle imo.
maybe adc is just the way@@sorroren2711
Bro u had literally the same onetricks as me, Shy Guy, Reptile and Treecko rock dude
were the goats bro
"Would you order from McDonalds if you knew your favourite order was discontinued?" me who stopped going to maccies after they discontinued my favourite order (chicken legend) and also is a OTP. Logic checks out 👍
whats a chicken legend?
Do you think OTP should have separate scoreboard or games or even both? Like all 10 players are one-trick players.
5:40 I'm the opposite kind of yasuo player I go 0/10 then on that powerspike I get the 1k shutdown and carry the game
LMAO as you should brother
For players under d1 i'd say its best to one trick, because you learn a lot of the fundamentals off the role a whole lot faster than if you were to swap characters every so often and have to relearn their kit.
As someone who had 500 games on kayn in s10 (norms mostly) with kayn being my most played in every role but support (he was second) and after the gradual nerfs to rhaast I’ve slowly stoped playing him for other assassin/drain tanks and eventually settling on samira nilah as they play similarly to kayn (when I played him Bot). Tho now I mostly play whatever just for fun instead of otping
interesting lore thank you traveler
@@lolsnowball_ otping was fun while it lasted but yeah not quite cut from that cloth anymore
thank you for sharing@@vannoah
If a yummi one trick tried autoing minions on thresh they would struggle
haha
I literally otp in everygame, idk why but gives me results. In overwatch i reaches top 500 with only dva, and in league masters with ahri (old and nerfed ahri), now i started to play league again and the new ahri is PERFECT to me. The reset in the r was a change i were saying years ago, like that champ needs it. I think i have 4millions of mastery points with all my accounts
the ranked results come from essentially taking a shortcut to learn the game, as i explained in the vid thers pros and cons
OTP isn't my cause but it was interesting to know more about this. I am another type: main champ, main's counter and different play style champ
thanks for the insight bro!
For me I love playing Yuumi. I enjoy to aim and stun them. Sometimes the enemys are smart enough and then it gets even more interesting. Or some long range skillshot behind the enemy tower and bam. Instant happyness.
yuumi doesnt have a stun right?
it does actually. Not exactly a typical stun, but the Q is a slow down(-20% slow 1sec) on contact and the R is slowing down 10% every hit(5 times so ideally 50%). And + exhaust is a powerfull combie @@lolsnowball_
ah yeah a large slow@@SergieXD
I feel like one trick has broadened into just "I main this one champ" nowadays with how I see people use it. I pretty much only played GP for 3 years, but I'm at a point where I like trying new characters and roles a ton. Playing characters who are hard matchups for GP really made me better at him.
makes sense!
I started as an OTP amumu just because i thought that it was an absolutely sh1tty champ, and i just went "ay what if i only play this mf until i know every trick with this green boi"
thats funny
@@lolsnowball_ it is because of how broken he actually is and nobody realizes it
