I wish I could have seen the Mig-25 and Su-22 when I was there this past summer. Rare birds to see here in the US. Such a wonderful collection and so much history. Its a treasure and a must-do for all aviation fans.

It's actually a Spanish license built CASA 2.111, B.2I-29, which means it has Rolls-Royce Merlins in place of the original engines.

I hope you guys start providing tours through this hanger, as well as the restoration hanger. It's kind of a shame seeing those planes just sit there and not get the attention they deserve

We create these videos as much as possible to show what's in the collection. There is a recent resto video on the Skyraider you can view right here on our channel.

I went here a few years ago while on a roadtrip and absolutely loved it. As a pilot on training and an avid aircraft lover this museum was the absolute best collection I have ever seen.

Why was the Spark Vark moved into storage? I love looking at the EF-111 and the F-111F across from each other.

I worked on that aircraft (Balls 57) when it was in green camo at Mountain Home, (1976-1979), pre-Spark-i-fication, and watched it fly in gray a few times after. It might be nice to have the canoe lowered for display every once in a while, so the public will understand what kind of an amazingly engineered system it was.

Is this by any chance the old Presidential and X-Plane hanger that you used to have to take a shuttle to see? Just wondering because 1) a few of the planes have display signage, and 2) I remember fondly the father son visit to the museum as a kid my dad took me on to that hanger specifically. I still have the picture's of me beaming with him in front of the xb70 and the coming down the steps of Airforce One - on my bookshelf along with the museum's book that details the collection. Another memory of that time was that one of the new galleries was just starting construction; pretty sure it was the missile one if memory serves - it was 20ish years ago.

Yes this is the old R&D Gallery. The other side of this hangar was the Presidential Gallery. Yes this is the are that's on base that a shuttle service would take visitors over to see. The XB-70 and about 65 aircraft were moved in 2015 to the new fourth building on the main campus. Thanks so much for your visits here and sharing your story!!!

Anyone else remember when the XB-70 was stored outside... that's where I first saw the plane in the late 70's

The story of the F-107 “Ultra Sabre” alone is worth a display since it was the first combat aircraft to test and innovate several key systems like the side stick. And the story behind that MiG-25! That alone is just an epic tale!

After viewing this video and others of your storage and restoration hangers, I wish that I could go in person to see these other slumbering beasts of the air,.in these hangers awaiting their rebirth.

Someyimes I wonder what the museum could accomplish with restoring these wonderful aircraft if they had the budget to do so. Lord knows there are probably hundreds of former Crew Chiefs like myself would be like kids in a candy store helping to restore them.

Hell most of the birds in this hanger atleast the R&D, the EF-111, CH-21, C-21, and probably the Storch are really just in there because of space issue so they could be put back in display really now if they wanted. But there still is a lot in that hanger that needs the TLC

Licence-built, for the most part, though Spain did rebuild some He 111s to equip them with RR Merlin engines - as this one has.

Every time I see the little T-46, I want to fill it up with fuel and take it for a flight.
