I suffer from perfectionism and struggle to enjoy making things sometimes. This was super easy and I enjoyed every bit of it. Was super quick to make too! Thank you 🥰
My dad uses this almost exact bag as his mushroom hunting bag, he’s had it for at least 15+ years and it’s all ripped up… I’m so excited to surprise him with this for his birthday!! ❤
My daughter, daughter-in-law, and I now each have one of these wonderful market bags. The connected chains are somewhat tedious to crochet, but the end result is completely worth the boredom. ;) I suggest listening to an audiobook or two while making this project to make it a bit more enjoyable. Thank you, once again, for an excellent tutorial and beautiful, functional design! xox
I'm making my sixth bag. I've tried several patterns, but I have a hard time with numbers and counting. This pattern is the only one I've been able to make 🙏💜
I am one happy bag lady 😁 I've been crocheting 5 years and this is the first thing I've EVER made to completion. It was simple and I LOVE it. Ty do much Stephanie. Fab teacher 🥰🥰🥰
I made this bag as a beginner. I ran out of yarn, then used cotton twine. Then I ran out of cotton twine and one of my kids gave me a ball of hot pink acrylic yarn. OMG! I love this bag! It is perfect. ! Thank you so much!
@@sonsniches I made the size she indicated in the video. I started with a ball of I love this cotton yarn from hobby lobby, but I ran out of that halfway through the net part. I think two of those skeins of yarn would have made the whole thing. The skein I used was 3 oz., 85g, and 153 yards, 140m.
Thank you so much for summarizing the pattern in the description! I needed a quick refresher after not making this bag in a while, and reading through the description was so helpful!❤
Absolutely adorable bag. Can't wait to make more... I believe there are comments on this towards the bottom but one other correction is that when you start gathering the other end to make the top solid strip of single stitches (it's about halfway through the video once you've made the correct length of loops), you add only the *one* extra SC at the beginning and then add SC in all the following loops, which will give you either 20 or 30 SCs depending on what size bag. I believe this video says you'll end up with 19 (although she makes a follow up video where she correctly explains how to do this and she ends up with 20 which is what I found is correct). As far as I can tell, it's the only part where I got confused for a second as otherwise the directions are super clear and helpful. So happy I found this video and really happy with the end result. Thanks!
Omg! I made this in a day, it was super fun and turned out so cute! I got 20 loops with a 21 chain, and at 32 rows it was 22" ! This bag is amazing! I love it so much thank you!!
This was my first ever project and let me tell you ITS SO EASY!! This made me so happy because another time I would fail and be super upset, but this tutorial was so clear and now I have a bag!!!
I just want to say Thanks for showing how you did your invisible stitch. Not every crochet channel shows how to do it as clearly. I already know how to do it, but am aware that many crocheters don't. When I find a video that is very clear on what to do I'll pass on the video to my learning grandkids coz, well, this ol' granny can't always be in person when they have a question on how to do something. Thanks again!! 💛🙏
Just finished this in red yarn!! I'm in love!! The mesh stretches to accommodate what you put in it, which looks really cool. For anyone else making this, if the bag just looks like it's getting wider and wider instead of longer, you're still doing it right. Remember the stretch! I made the large bag, which is actually super large when you consider how much the mesh stretches out. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, Stephanie!
i'm so excited to make this for my grandma's birthday next month!! she taught me crocheting as a kid but then i sadly forgot it and picked it back up last year during the pandemic! she can't crochet anymore due to her bad wrists but she's so involved in everything i'm making so i can't wait for this :')
I made this!! Thank you for the excellent instructions and the exceptional video. I appreciated seeing the details of how you did the stiches and held the yarn. You made this project feel so much more approachable because of your attention to sharing the details.
It took me a week to make the small bag. I used around 210 g of medium black yarn and used a 5 mm crochet hook. The bag looked small at first but it actually holds a lot of things due to how stretchy the yarn is. I had to redo a few sections but overall, I love the way my bag turned out!
Of all the market mesh bag patterns out there, this is my favorite. It works up quickly and is really cute. I find that I get a neater sides when I start and end with a chain 3 instead of 5. It doesn't change the size of the bag. :) Thanks for sharing!
Such a great pattern, and easy. Thank you for sharing! I've made 10 small bags using different yarns. I found as long as you start with an odd number, it will be fine. The only thing I struggled with was the straps. I have to slightly reposition in order to get little loops jutting away from the bag. Then I finish my last round using a smaller hook and this helps gather in those sides a bit. They don't need to be sewn because when you pick up the bag, they straighten quite a bit. I'd say mine could hold 6-8 medium apples. I think I'll fill mine with goodies and use them for gifts, or raffle items for fundraisers. Maybe a beach theme, or lemonade.
This is my second project I’ve made of yours. You explain everything so well and your tutorials are easy to follow. I think I’m just going to work my way through all you videos. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the great, EASY to understand tutorial! My bag came out beautiful. I did not have any cotton yarn on hand, so I made it in Red Heart Persimmon & I love the way it came out! 💖
I messed up like 7 minutes in and had to pull it apart 😭😭 but on the bright side this is my first time crotcheting and this is the first tutorial I’ve ever been able to follow
I noticed from the comments below that many had the same problem as me. When decreasing to begin the top border of the other side of the bag, one ends up with 1 additional stitch (21 for the small bag, 31 for the large bag) (10:05). However, the other border is 20 sts wide (small bag; 30 sts for large bag) (3:25). You mentioned that each side should match, therefore one should decrease 1 additional st in that initial decreasing row to match the number of stitches in the original border (20 for small, 30 for large). Thank you for the great video - this is the only area that didn't work out mathematically according to the instructions.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I made the large bag and feared at one point that I could park my Jeep in it, it looked so big! But, it turned out perfectly in the end and I just love it! Making a small version for a friend now. What great gifts they will make. 😀👍🏻
Thank you for this super easy to follow tutorial! I have just finished my new crochet market bag! I used 2 colours (orange for the handles and the 6 first and last rows, and blue for the rest). I love it :)
i made this bag!! i used 3.5 hook and 100% mercerized cotton yarn, because i wanted my mesh to be smaller. i followed the instructions and just added more rows, my bag came out exactly like in the video, i love it, thank you for such a great explanation!!
I made this as an absolute beginner, had literally bought my first set of supplies the day i started, was able to make this first go! This project boosted my confidence, i’m excited to make more pieces!
This was my first crochet project. I didn't see the comment about making 19 loops but the resulting bag looks identical to the one shown in the video. I found the instructions clear although sometimes it was hard to see where exactly to place the hook. I am excited to start on my second bag. Many thanks.
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I made my first bag just before Christmas and have now made 5 of these in different colours for presents. Very clear and easy to follow for me as a beginner.
hi! i just wanted to say im a beginner at crochet and this is the first ever project i completed! it took me 3 days of work, around 11 hours, but again im a WAYY beginner - so anyone whos more experienced will probably laugh at my pace haha. thank you so much for your video, you do a wonderful job at providing clarity and showing clearly how to work certain stitches. i love my bag so much
I made this bag without any trouble. After my first smaller bag I made two bigger bags. They are great to go to the beach because the sand falls through, not taking the sand home.
If anyone is interested: I made one of the bigger size in the Hobbii Frutta yarn (100% cotton). I found that a 4,5mm hook is better, although the wrap says to use a 5mm hook. The final product weighs 135 grams. It easily fits 8 rolls of toilet paper (I was too lazy to grab more). I hope this information might be useful to someone.
Thank you for showing every step for beginners like me. You are great! I am gonna crochet this bag tonight using your video. You’re a great teacher! I am gonna subscribe you
This was magnificently simple to follow and very well demonstrated. I was searching for an easier pattern to finish a French market bag I had initiated a few months ago. I was beginning to feel deflated thinking it was going to be an unfinished project. THANK YOU for this! 🙌🏾🙏🏾
I’ve had this saved to watch for awhile now. Perfect bag for vacation. My first one from a Ravelry pattern is not at all what it’s pictured to be. Thank you
That was the most relaxing video I've ever seen. Your voice is calming, you explained the steps when you needed to and no loud PORN music. Some of these videos explain things in such a loud way (both voice and music). And they talk too much. GREAT JOB!!! I may actually attempt this project during this crazy time. Stay well everyone.
i finished this in like 2 days and i love this pattern. if u think the small bag is too small it STRETCHES more than u think(in my opinion it went like down to my knees when it had stuff in it and it fits big text books too) i recommend the small bag!!👍
LOVE THIS BAG! I took the supplies with me on a cruise to make this bag and it was a great vacation project! I made the larger version and I love it! I think I’ll be making a few as Christmas presents this year. Thank you so much for your beautiful, easy-to-follow video and instructions.
Thank you! Very nice pattern. One does need to pay attention though, it's easy to forget to chain 5 and not realize it till your on the next row. Suggestions: Count your loops after each row. Also, to count the number of rows you've done, count along the side, one row for each loop and one row for each single crochet between, OR count two rows for each loop. I got really confused counting the number of rows and ended up with 55. LOL. Went with it, and now have the super size version. :)
Thanks for this tutorial i love the pattern I started with 31chains but made a total of 52 loops since I used a sockweight multi strand thread for the project. It was so easy to understand I really enjoyed making this bag. So I shared your tutorial to my friends. God bless you!
I did this and made a slightly smaller bag (didn't have enough yarn for even the small one) and it still worked really well! it's super cute, could still be used as a grocery bag or as a cute little lunch bag or even handbag :) thanks for the great tutorial!
This video is amazing! So clear to follow. Made this bag and everyone is raving about it. This is a good beginner piece. Thank you for your help in advancing my crochet skills!
I just crocheted this and it is beautiful. Thank you so much for this gorgeous pattern. Very easy to follow. I chose the larger size and was still able to follow along. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this amazing and very thoughtful video! I am such a “ visual “ person. You have a lovely patient mannerism about you and have taken the time to prepare an easy to follow program! . I am so excited to start this project ! You are truly inspirational !
I’m currently in the middle of the video and I’m already in love with my new produce bag! It’s gonna be such a nice addition to my crochet collection. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thank you for the awesome video!
Thank you so much for posting this pattern. It was fun to do and my first real project as a beginner (besides dishcloths to practice stitches). I'll be making more for gifts. You rock!

Thanks for this tutorial. I made it using color changing yarn and it turned out real pretty. 🥰
Oh my this was a process. I finally finished and I love it ( ny first crochet project) 😭. I swore I would not be making another one cuz it's way too daunting, now I'm planning on make one for every colour 👀💀. Thank you x3 this has been a journey I feel like I'm so much wiser in crocheting
I just finished making a small bag! It took me two days with huge breaks (probably would’ve taken me a day without breaks lol) BUT ITS SO CUTE!! Thank you so much for this tutorial :D
This is my first time doing crochet, I've watched this video and found it very simple to understand. And yes I've done my first bag crochet thank to this video 😍 used a rope from Lang Yarns named Quattro Dégradé, the bag is full of colors, very pretty and very simple to make even for a novice like me 😂 thanks for this video 👌🏻
This video was very very well done! The instructions were so clear! One of the best I’ve seen. The only thing would be to know exactly how many skeins to use for a small or large bag. I read the previous comments and was able to figure out what I needed. Thanks so much!
i finally finished this after 2-3 days , came out amazing only had to refer to the video a few times for instructions but other than that very straight forward. thanks so much new subscriber for sure 💕
SAME!!! Im on day 2 & just finished the 30th row of chains & just came back to see my next step🤩 Also...I don't know how I wound up with 18 loops but we're doing it!
Thank you very much!!! This is the first crochet project that I finish 🥰 and I love it! (P.s. I did with 18 loops and it came out just fine. Thank you!!!!
Your beautiful bag has enticed me back into crochet after many years. Thank you for the lovely, easy to follow video! I'm truly "hooked" and have already bought much more yarn than I should have. My first bag is finished, and it is so beautiful I can't wait to make more! I'm already planning how to experiment with color and embellishments.
Just finished the small size and it's super cute! My 7 year old daughter claimed it. Now, i have to make the larger size for myself! I double stranded 1 weight super fine cotton yarnin a natural linen color.
I’ve made this bag many times. I use a thermal stitch for the handles. This makes them not stretch out as much and doesn’t dig into the solder when the bag is full
@@daphneycash8032 thermal stitch is the name of the stitch. The stitch is much thicker and less stretchy than a for example single crochet. It’s a bit confusing at first but if you look up a tutorial you should be able to follow along. This bag is a great starter project. Best of luck with it!
What a beautiful bag and such a nicely done video! Thank you so much, excited to try. I first watched this video when I was an earrrrlier beginner lol. Now I’m still a beginner since I keep leaving crochet and then coming back but this looks so fun and it’s something new🫶🏽
really enjoyed making this :) i used a 3.5 yarn instead of a 5 and it took less than 2 100g balls, although the size of it is definitely smaller and I when around the sides 5 times and not six. super easy project for beginners as I lost count several times but the end product didn't suffer!
Took me a while but I made one in a larger size! I feel so accomplished! 😁 Edit* I also wanted to mention that this bag holds a lot of items and stretches so well, I have washed it several times, it's my favorite grocery bag!
I’m making the larger bag right now and my row of loops seems too wide. Did u have the same problem or did yours look exactly like her picture after about 40 rows
@@kristenn7772 it did seem a little wide at first, but it still works great. I usually use a smaller hook if it seems like the loops are too big,( like the 5mm or smaller) or if the bag seems like small items might fall out I made another bag with chain 3 instead of 5, hope that helps!
Sorry for the confusion everyone! I made a mistake in my video.
FIRST ROW OF LOOPS SHOULD BE 19 *****NOT****** 18.
For small bag start with 21 chain, then 20 Sc in first row, repeat for 5-6 rows.
First row of loops should be 19 loops. Then repeat.

First row of loops should be 29 loops. Then repeat.
I did put a note on it, 2 days ago, I hope it helps. Thank you!
Thats ok. Its my first time with crochet and somehow i only have 13 loops. Oh Well. As long as the bag can carry things in the end I'm fine with it.
I did 7, still came out good 😂

Some of these videos explain things in such a loud way (both voice and music). And they talk too much. GREAT JOB!!! I may actually attempt this project during this crazy time. Stay well everyone.
Thank You 😊
I really love the way you designed the handles, they’ll definitely hold up! Great tutorial! 💜🙏💜👏👍
Thank You 😊
i finished this in like 2 days and i love this pattern. if u think the small bag is too small it STRETCHES more than u think(in my opinion it went like down to my knees when it had stuff in it and it fits big text books too) i recommend the small bag!!👍
Thank you very much! 😊
I finished my bag today! I love it and I love how easy you made it to follow along on your video. This is my first crochet project :)
That is fabulous 😊
I did this and made a slightly smaller bag (didn't have enough yarn for even the small one) and it still worked really well! it's super cute, could still be used as a grocery bag or as a cute little lunch bag or even handbag :) thanks for the great tutorial!
This video is amazing! So clear to follow. Made this bag and everyone is raving about it. This is a good beginner piece. Thank you for your help in advancing my crochet skills!
Thank you
This is a fantastic video! I love that this pattern is super flexible. Literally sat down and made a rainbow one all in one go!
It's a wonderful bag. Made already 4. Makes a great gift 🎁. Thank you very much. 🙏
I just crocheted this and it is beautiful. Thank you so much for this gorgeous pattern. Very easy to follow. I chose the larger size and was still able to follow along.
Thank you!
Wonderful!
Thank you so much for this amazing and very thoughtful video! I am such a “ visual “ person. You have a lovely patient mannerism about you and have taken the time to prepare an easy to follow program! . I am so excited to start this project ! You are truly inspirational !
Just finished my first bag ever thanks to this video!! I didn’t know what I was doing half of the time but I made it through :) tehehe Thank you!!
Thank you, it was very easy to follow along. It being my second attempt. Mines came out cute, can’t wait to gift it to my friend.
Wonderful!
Wonderful.
I’m currently in the middle of the video and I’m already in love with my new produce bag! It’s gonna be such a nice addition to my crochet collection. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thank you for the awesome video!
Very good instructions, thank you! I plan to make these for Christmas gifts this year.
Thank you. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. Just finished mine. Bigger but I wanted it so.
Thank You😊
Thank you so much for posting this pattern.
How much time did it take you?
@@NY-A-M in hours I'd say roughly 30. It's just an estimate but it took me a little over a week
I love how she showed the thickness, its very helpful
Thanks for the pattern. I'm working on a second bag for my daughter. They are beautiful bags and easy to crochet ❤️
Wonderful!
Thank you for posting this. Your instructions are so clear and detailed
I just finished making a small bag! It took me two days with huge breaks (probably would’ve taken me a day without breaks lol) BUT ITS SO CUTE!! Thank you so much for this tutorial :D
Just finished one of these and couldn’t be happier! Bravo on a spectacular and easy to follow tutorial! 🎉❤🎉 Thank you!
I finished mine bag today and it looks really good! It was really easy to follow. Thank you for this awesome tutorial!
I just finished this bag and I am in love. This pattern is so smart and was great for one of my first projects. Amazing video and instructions 😭💖
heyy congrats !! how long did it take you approximately?
This video was very very well done! The instructions were so clear! One of the best I’ve seen. The only thing would be to know exactly how many skeins to use for a small or large bag. I read the previous comments and was able to figure out what I needed. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful! And thank you to other responses!! Everyone is Great!
i finally finished this after 2-3 days , came out amazing only had to refer to the video a few times for instructions but other than that very straight forward. thanks so much new subscriber for sure 💕
SAME!!! Im on day 2 & just finished the 30th row of chains & just came back to see my next step🤩
Also...I don't know how I wound up with 18 loops but we're doing it!
Thank you!! I made mine watching TV last night. It is a pretty nice project
Thank you very much!!! This is the first crochet project that I finish 🥰 and I love it! (P.s. I did with 18 loops and it came out just fine. Thank you!!!!
Wonderful! Yes, you can really adjust it to any size!!
Yes, I am going to try a different coloured handle next time. 😊
Just finished the small size and it's super cute! My 7 year old daughter claimed it. Now, i have to make the larger size for myself! I double stranded 1 weight super fine cotton yarnin a natural linen color.
Sounds great!
You are an excellent teacher and this is a great pattern. I plan to make a few more for gifts. Thank you.
I’ve made this bag many times. I use a thermal stitch for the handles. This makes them not stretch out as much and doesn’t dig into the solder when the bag is full
Great idea😃
Yes, the thermal stitch for the handles is working out great! Thanks for the suggestion 😊
What is a "thermal " stitch? Newbie here
@@daphneycash8032 thermal stitch is the name of the stitch. The stitch is much thicker and less stretchy than a for example single crochet. It’s a bit confusing at first but if you look up a tutorial you should be able to follow along. This bag is a great starter project. Best of luck with it!
@@Shmoood oh...I made top last week...😆 I'm just killing time...lol
What a beautiful bag and such a nicely done video! Thank you so much, excited to try. I first watched this video when I was an earrrrlier beginner lol. Now I’m still a beginner since I keep leaving crochet and then coming back but this looks so fun and it’s something new🫶🏽
really enjoyed making this :) i used a 3.5 yarn instead of a 5 and it took less than 2 100g balls, although the size of it is definitely smaller and I when around the sides 5 times and not six. super easy project for beginners as I lost count several times but the end product didn't suffer!
Thank you for the great comment😊
Loved the tutorial. Easy to follow and no annoying music in the background.. and you have a very nice teaching voice. Thank you
Thank you!!😊
Wow,nice.you have explained it nicely and neatly.👏 Thanks. Namsty. 🙏
Thank You 😊
Absolutely lovely, especially how the sc's draw up the sides, so much easier than crocheting in a circle!
The amount of times I go back to this video is crazy 😂
Took me a while but I made one in a larger size! I feel so accomplished! 😁
Edit* I also wanted to mention that this bag holds a lot of items and stretches so well, I have washed it several times, it's my favorite grocery bag!
Nice work!!!😃
I wish others could upload their finished projects I'd love to see them. 🥰🥰
Just made a GIANT purple bag! Your method was easy to follow and adapt. Thank you. I am thinking Christmas presents for the grown kids.
Great idea!
