Windmill update: You can run three to five plus windmills in a series. To have the power needed to run all the powered machines. I tested this in a Single Player game using Admin Pannel. Just install Steam CMD and you have a Server running in single player mode. So, first windmill to second and second to third and third windmill to the fourth one that attaches to everything. Note I built the windmills 1 1/2 walls high to match my second story room. Windmills outside and all the equipment and machines inside on 2nd floor. This gave me enough power, but you can easily add more. I took pictures but not sure how to upload.
Not sure if something changed soon after your video, but you ARE able to place windmills on wedge pieces. Just hit H for the free building option and it can be placed. Great explanation in your vid btw :)
I was really stuck here, normally I thought I would see some slot for an upgrade. I was going in a loop how to make bricks and bars but in order to make those I needed a windmill and so on uggg TY!
I wonder if the power increase from altitude is also affected by where your base is located. Like if you build high up in the snow biome, compared to the rainforest. Or if the altitude is just in relation to the distance from the ground -> Windmill.
So... you cant put wires through the walls but if you destroy walls, add wires, and then build walls it lets you. Was trying to think of how to put these buildings inside with doors
Some supplemental notes, as of game version 0.1.3 - it appears each Windmill can supply sufficient "power" to two powered crafting stations (which all seem to require 100 power). You can't daisy chain two windmills together and get 440 power in your rope network, only the windmill connected to stations will transfer pulling force. For example, 1 Windmill + 1 Windmill + 1 Power Extension Shaft + Powered Cutting Machine + Power Workshop = 220 Power, enough for the two stations. Adding a Powered Refining Furnace results in "Insufficent Power" messages at the third station, even though you theoretically have 440 Power, the last Windmill is giving the network 220 Power, and the 2nd Windmill doesn't help. We ended up running independent rope runs from each Windmill to two stations, and that seems to work fine, with 110 Power for each station requiring 100 Power. At 422m altitude, we are still getting 220 base Power value at each Windmill.
Thanks for your explanation. I was struggling to get my first steel ingot without having already steel ingots for a few days. The windmill was the last step to manage that step. My windmill only produce 150 power at 315m in the rain forrest. I tried to place the windmill at top on my highest building nearby at least 4-5 fundations higher with no increase of power. :( For the time beeing I have to switch the connections from a stone cutter to the steel furnace.
So at ground level at my base (which is up on a hill anyway) I had 420 power. After moving it to the roof 4 and a half foundations off the ground it went to 435 power. I didn't check the actual altitude on the ground and roof but there's no real power increase unless you go really high up
thanks for your video it helped me finding the connection spot on the windmill 🤗 aaand inspired me to some experimentation. seems like they have changed something in a patch and did not mentioned in the patchnotes - but you can daisychain the windmills now I just tried with 2 windmills 1 with 210 power out 1 with 200 power out just hooked 1 to the other and used a different output at the 2nd windmill to connect to the extension shaft received 410 power at the workstation

That’s awesome. Great info

Thanks. Yeah don’t think they changed anything. I completely forgot about H. Just me being a goof 🤣.
Dumb question maybe but does it have to be built outside ?
@@mattharris3169 I don’t think so. I’d be surprised if it did.
@Zelendes It does have to be built outside

Same goes for some other stuff too. Like I think foundations can't clip through barriers, but barriers can clip through foundations.

You really got experimental as well. I’m glad someone did some further testing. Thanks a bunch ☺️

I just tried with 2 windmills
1 with 210 power out
1 with 200 power out
just hooked 1 to the other and used a different output at the 2nd windmill to connect to the extension shaft
received 410 power at the workstation
Oooo that’s awesome
