I remember when playing as a romulan, there was a mission that had you going through some black holes infested territories. At some point, while trying do dodge some torpedoes, I was edging to close to a black hole without realizing. When I realizes that I was heading in reverse to a black hole, I shouted so hard my sister came rushing in, ...while I was trying to increase forward speed, nervous and cranky after so many missions played. I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, but still died. GREAT GAME !
The problem with bringing Star Trek to gaming is the phoned-in voice acting. I never felt that Patrick Stewart really brought the same vigour over, and he's not the only one.
The Starfleet Command games were loosely based on the Star Fleet Battles board game, which is much more consistent and accurate when it comes to the ships. Because it was a game that had to actually work. In Defiant isn't in the TOS-based SFB, but in SFB would be a "Fast Patrol Ship" which is like a WWII PT boat in space. Defiant is a tiny little 12-man ship, it is not very powerful. Four of them together would be offensively more powerful than a heavy cruiser (Enterprise), but not nearly as powerful defensively. A direct hit from a single fully powered photon would cripple Defiant, and two would vaporize it.
Kavik Kang rubbish, the Defiant class has a crew of closer to fitter and is best described as a pocket battleship with the equivalent firepower of a pre Dominion War galaxy class ship and she’s dam tough. She’s capable of sustaining a full minute of fire from a Vor’cha class cruiser without her shields. In First contact the Borg weapons were able to destroy most ships with one or two hits with their shields, even without her shields after fighting non stop for something like ten hours at the least the Defiant was still able to tank three direct hits again without shields whereas the rest of the fleet was mincemeat with their shields
The defient lost its first fight against 3 Jem'Hadar fighters and was destroyed faster than any main ship. I don't know why it has the reputation of being a super ship. It even sucked at fighting the borg.
The single player of this game was awesome. I mean just awesome, destroying the Tal Shiar base of operations in the end was a very rewarding experience.
one of the missions in the klingon section of this game was so damn annoying. you had to use your impulse engines to get from the klingon/federation starbase to an astroid field on the other side of the sector (which took ages) just to detect a cloaked romulan ship. If you warped there, then the romulan ship wouldn't show up and you could not continue the mission and had to restart. anyone else had that problem?
I know this is a nitpick but why are the sounds of the torpedos and phaser cannons different to what they are in canon? If anyone's seen First Contact & Deep Space Nine, you know the distinct sound of the quantum torpedos of the Sovereign Class & the phaser cannons of the Defiant Class.
Actually anything is better then those 7 movies the only ones that stand and give trk a life are TOS movies, the rest especially Generation Movies Killed Trek and the fans that support it.
in first contact the defiant looks like a little bug compared to the sovereign class enterprise-E. Here they ride into battle together at a comparable size. not right. miss the D though.
Never played the game, but tried to watch this 'cause I like 'Trek, but Lysol and other commercials keay to stop them, and had ti listen to that shit while I was watching. Should not happen unless one prompts the commercials. That shit sucks. Graphics were great, though.

Defiant was intended to swarm the Borg, Zerg Rush-style. They're not god-ships like the 'Hero' ships are.

+SuperDarthVader1 could be an error or they didn't have the sounds available for whatever reason but yeah that irked me too.
