    They may not even make the playoffs if the West is as tough as most people are saying. I'm scared to death that in close game after close game,Reddick will get out coached. And yes, it's highly doubtful LeBron and AD will be as healthy as last season and they'd better hope Jaxson Hayes isn't needed too much. Sad to see Lebron's career end on a whimper,but it's clearly the plan. Pelinka has always been super active and to go from that to doing nothing means a decision has been made

    Nah I’m not hating on LeBron by any means, but I mean let’s call it what it is with him. You have a max contract guy who dominates the ball that can no longer carry your team. LeBron ball worked wonderfully for almost 2 decades and he pieced together one of if not the best careers of all time. At this point though, his stats are there but anybody watching the game sees LeBron is not his usual dominate self and the brand of basketball he has played his entire career only works if he is far and wide the best player on the court. Hes declined on defense, his turnovers have gone up, some of his shot selection is sus at times. Often times to me if seems like he stat pads in garbage time. Again a lot of it is still there and he’s still a top player in the league, but he makes everybody play a catch and shoot role while he blames them for short comings. I think he should hang it up before it gets even more sad

    • @Paulie_Geelie
      @Paulie_Geelie 4 дні тому +2

      Lebron in the playoffs is still a top 5 player in the league. If you saw the Denver series, Lebron was playing elite defense, and I mean elite defense (dude averaged 2.4 blocks and 1 steal per game), rebounding very well, hyper efficient with his offense, and just flat out dominant.
      The problem is, he can only do this during the playoffs. During the regular season, he plays at like 70% effort on offense, and like 30% effort on defense. And yes I agree he definitely stat pads during the regular season, and he blames his teammates for being out of rhythm after he dominates the ball the entire game.

    • @benwelch6554
      @benwelch6554 4 дні тому +2

      @@Paulie_Geeliemaybe man. To be honest I don’t remember the nuggets series super well so I don’t have too much of an opinion aside from his role players couldn’t get going. I still love a good LeBron take over in the 4th as well which we got to see often last year. I just have always hated the fact LeBron limits guys to catch and shoot. When he was in his prime they could still win that way because he was truly that good, but it’s hard to have sustained team success that way. Most guys need to get in a rhythm and standing around waiting for the ball to shoot and actually hitting it is a rare skill to have. I liked the 2020 team because there were other playmakers and it was vets who knew exactly what their role was. All in all, the lakers ain’t winning a thing and to me the longer he plays the more damaging his legacy it is. The off the court “no help” LeGM LeCoachkiller that we used to be able to look past is becoming more apparent without the success it was linked to. His career solidified you either see him as the goat or you don’t, nothing he can do will change anybody’s mind now

He is missing a lot on his resume to catch MJ and sometimes I still stop and think “what did this guy do to pass Kobe??” But regardless, a legendary career. I often think about if LeBron would just shut up and not be a diva how much differently his career would’ve played out. An insane talent, but in Cleveland put so much pressure on his front office they made panic moves destroying their team just for him to leave anyway. Heat didn’t put up with him trying to run the show so he went back home to Cleveland where again he forced them to fire good coaches and make stupid trades ruining their franchise and now it’s at all time low with the lakers. He literally ruins franchises begging for help and attention and using them as scapegoats, buttttt that’s a conversation for another day

    If I was the Lakers gm I would blow it up. Yes they made a wcf run not too long ago but in the past two season that conference has gotten WAY better. And with their supporting cast, I don’t think they have enough pieces to get up there into title contention. We saw it during the off season. Free agents don’t want to come in because they don’t believe in this team. LeBron and AD are two top 10 players. You could get a great return on them. Austin Reaves isn’t a star but you could get a young guy and first for him. Same thing with dlo. I don’t think they have what it takes to get to the finals but I think if they were to blow it up now they could get a great return for their players. And they are the lakers. They can bring in free agents in the future.
    Now if they wanted to contend. I would move AR15 and Dlo. In their 2020 run they had LeBron running the point. I would go back to that. Play to his strengths. Move austin and dlo for some actual perimeter defense. I would not try to get a center. With the way the league is going and it’s “all five guys can shoot” approach. I would want AD down low so he can protect the rim. Let everyone else defend outside. They would have to find some decent shooting too.

    • @willingexile3374
      @willingexile3374 4 дні тому +1

      They will wait LeBron out. He already won one title for the Lakers, he still sells tickets and merch and reporting on the team is almost 24/7. AD doesn't seem to mind or if he does the front office has made guarantees they won't trade him. Everyone is tradeable but smarter GMs have already wised up on the Lakers' overvaluing some of their talent, like they did with THT a while back. So yes, Max Christie is expendable. I agree not to get a center, just get guys like Rui or at least send Vanderbilt to a shooting coach. If Redick can actually coach he'll figure out a way to space the minutes of D-Lo and Reaves to make them more impactful while LeBron sits.

    • @xoirvinn
      @xoirvinn 3 дні тому +1

      @@willingexile3374 I agree on most of what you said. Money is also part of the equation. I was just speaking off of things that I would value if I was the gm I guess. I believe that if they did want to trade LeBron and AD they could get a good haul for them. I understand what you’re saying about lakers over valuing their talent but LeBron and AD are top 10 players. Everyone else is no where near that level. That’s why I said that they didn’t have the pieces to move into title contention, no matter how much they wish their pieces could. Moving Dlo to the bench instead of trading him is a good idea though. I would just want the offense to run through bron instead of bron taking turns with Dlo and Reaves.

But no one wants to be that GM who would move that kind of talent and star power from the Lakers, and with the new CBA, franchises would like to hold on to their draft picks. If this were ten years ago, getting LeBron would be a major coup, but he is what he is right now so it's just best to maximize him until another disgruntled star would be available.

    LeBron is no longer the difference maker that he once was and no self-respecting star will want to move to LA to be a glorified role player alongside him, when there is no guarantee of winning. You have a stacked West, and top tier of East teams are nothing to sneeze at either. Having two top players isn't enough when there is no clear talent disparity among the top 15 players and gifted role players can make the difference. The Lakers are trapped with no future in the cards if they make moves to win now, their best move left was to draft LeBron's son and make his friend the coach to appease him. That huge extension too. The management already accomplished what they wanted with the James-Davis combo, which is keeping the franchise competitive until they swing for another marquee free agent. If this season doesn't pan out the narrative will shift and LeBron will see a public relations hit. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already negotiating to be part of one of the expansion teams (likely Vegas) so he will have a golden parachute.

      Whether we want to admit it or not, Lebron and AD are a big reason why they’ve been super mediocre and terrible in the past couple of seasons. Not because of their play on the court but doing all the LeGm moves ruined a lot of the chemistry that the 2020 championship team had. They were the ones that wanted to play with Russel Westbrook while the front office didn’t want to trade alot of depth for him in the first place. Who actually thought that it would be a good fit at all? Two ball dominant players who don’t play that well off ball, especially Russ in the starting lineup was a recipe for disaster. Along with AD only playing like 40 games that season it was bound to fail and it ended up being one of the biggest failed super teams ever all because Lebron and AD wanted to play with him. Now the front office has to take a lot of blame too for all the decisions they’ve made since and while yes the 2023 trade deadline moves were excellent at first, it didn’t take long to realize how mediocre they actually were during last season. Add in a bad head coach in Darvin Ham and you have a complete mess of a team and an organization. Now they’re paying for all the bad decisions that have been made the past couple of years and Lebron is too old to carry the team like he used to. I don’t think they’re going to win a chip any time soon and Lebron isn’t ever going to win again unless he goes to a contending team.

    I’m gonna be honest with you, bro I’m not a Lakers fan but from the outside looking in if I was a player, I wouldn’t want to play with LeBron James. He doesn’t seem like a great teammate. He seems to be overly involved in the decision-making. And roster construction. I know he is one of the greatest players, but he just seems very controlling and that’s not something I would want to deal with. So I honestly believe that’s what it is besides Rob Polanka just being a dumbass.

Arguably one of the greatest players ever but don’t play defense. Anthony Davis is a great player, but not a leader. The only thing did was change coaches and that’s supposed to be something significant. Ideal on improving. Any player that has significant skills that does not want to play with LeBron. It’s just a fact, they know they’re gonna be some kind of scapegoat. So League is gonna crash and burn with his 40 year old, yeah they did get his son, probably gonna play in the G league for the first year. But it is what it is.

    I don’t expect them to be any good I see mediocrity at best maybe a play in team if they’re lucky. Lebron isn’t getting any younger and Anthony Davis is night and day when it comes to his play he’s still a star player tho. With that being said the lakers blueprint that won them the chip in 2020 was a bunch of role players that fit with lebron and AD having a secondary ball handler or true point guard help the lakers in 2020 d Angelo Russell is a shooting guard or combo guard he’s not a true point that can create offense that’s why lebron is relied so much for playmaking on top of not having good three point shooters and a true center.

      @thareelhelloagain 4 дні тому

      @@matthewford521 Why? What has he accomplished the last 4 years, that would justify top 10 status still? I watch the Lakers. He's awful. Anthony Davis is easily a top 10 player, and has been easily the best player on the team since 2021 (and probably earlier), and yet we've been told for years on end now that he's the second best player on the team. Why? He's not. Davis is the best on the Lakers, he has been for years, and Lebron puts up padded, bloated offensive stats with Godawful defense, taking up a huge amount of the usage for his offensive numbers and being a negative on defense, while Davis plays efficiently on both ends on far lower usage. Because of this, the Lakers don't actually win very many games, and definitely not as many as a team that ACTUALLY had two top 10 players would.

    • @CoolBreezyo
      @CoolBreezyo 4 дні тому +2

      Your take has merit. Lebron is lowkey the real coach (on the floor), the vocal leader, blah blah but seems to affect morale negatively.
      Not getting the sense there is a whole lot of buy in across the board so whether his stats compete or not, I don't see him making anyone better like he's once did. As a lifelong Lakers fan, the bubble chip only sorta counts and I've been waiting for Lebron to leave ever since. IF he's gets a redemption arc, maybe he takes them back to the Finals and competes, but that seems pretty unlikely.
