  • Tucktec assembly and unboxing.
This is my brand new 10 ft 2023 Tucktec. This version has the improved seat straps and 3rd cross bar but all 2023 models are assembled like this.

Thanks for the video; you did a much better job showing how to assemble the kayak than the official instruction video.

I was able to put it together using the official video. Tucktec has done a great job designing this thing and improving the design over the years to make it easy to put together and take down.

@@alfadriver87 I’m loving my Tucktec kayak and am very fond of the company. I’m not here to badmouth them, simply stating that their instructional video could use some better camerawork

This is the best assembly video I’ve seen so far.
I hope I can assemble half as easily as you make it look when mine arrives!

Hooking the latches onto the clips is a real pain because the plastic is so stiff. I had to get a younger neighbor to help and even he struggled. I am going to leave it assembled for a week and then try again. If it does not get easier I will have to return it.

Yes! This helped so much more than the Tucktec one. I'm pretty strong but I'll tell you I really had to fight to put it together out of the box. Hopefully it will get easier. Someone suggested a blow dryer which was very helpful. Thanks for posting this! Can't wait to get it on the water!

thank you so much for your helpful video. I received my Tucktec yesterday. I attempted to to put it together, but had a hard time. I did bend it a few times, I will definitely refer to your video when I go at it again =) (ps, thank you for the closeups also)

Thanks for the excellent video brother, WAY more helpful that the Tucktec vid. The seat holds a little better if you run the strap between the foam and the metal and then over the top. Thanks again 🙏🏻

I am a 145 pound skinny guy and I found this virtually impossible to do even with someone to hold things steady. It says best done over 70degrees, but it is almost never that warm here. The plastic was so stiff it was almost impossible to work. There has to be an easier way!

I'm not sure why, but I've gotten 2 at this point(Some features were stated on the Amazon listing that weren't actually included, namely the 'fin'). Both of them were textured, whereas all the videos I've seen they look slick/shiny(I'm aware they're not slick). Am I the only one who's gotten the mat-finish???

Not sure about all of them, but at least some of the 2023 models are the stiff textured plastic. Found out the models before and after are the shiny smooth plastic we see in the videos. They went back to it, and the heavy duty 2024 is also 6 pounds lighter coming in at 20 lbs vs 26 lbs. I learned this when I reported that my sticker was falling off out of the box. Known issue with the stickers on the texture. Returning my 2023 textured that I've had for a week because putting it together literally destroyed me. I sure hope the 2024 is easier to fold. BTW, customer service was fast and great!

How durable is the plastic during stressing? I kind of assembled the front wrong at first due to the false latch and kind of stressed it due to the number of shavings

    • @andyrusscher2271
      @andyrusscher2271  3 місяці тому +1

It seems really durable. Once the plastic has flexed a few times, it gets easier to bend. Mine has been set up and folded down a lot and it shows no sign of wearing out

Took mine 28 days from the day I ordered just got the 10ft and it's a bitch to fold the first time (edit I did notice that for mine if I do the rear side folds first it is easier)

It took a month to get our 2 kayaks, and we spent literally all day trying to fold ours the first time. The side folds require a lot of hand strength. We left them in the sun and used a hair dryer to make the bending easier. We are 70. I'm sure it will get easier, but wow!

@@plantcrazy2215 took it out for the 3rd time this past weekend and was noticeably easier to fold. Also handled great in the sarasota bay even with it being a windy day and fishing from it is a blast as a small fish will still pull you around like you're marlin fishing lol.

@@plantcrazy2215I agree. I just received my kayak and spent the afternoon trying to assemble it. I managed to cleat the end latches but the four middle ones have so far defeated me. The plastic is really stiff. I’ll give an update tomorrow if I am successful.

It does get easier. Try this: latch the bow and stern, then latch an inner fold, then do the other side inner fold. Then latch the third inner fold. To get the last inner fold, unlatch the bow or stern, which it is closest to, then latch the last inner fold . Now relatch the bow or stern. In other words, unlatching the bow or stern makes it easier to latch the closest inner fold. @@plantcrazy2215
