Great video. Yeah, that's about how you do it. I recommend to basically learn to draw maps. I did the layering on my weathered, post-Sarlacc Boba a bit differently, but the process overall was the same.
No more stencils? I figure you have done enough to know where the damage goes. Your a great teacher!!! Thank you. Im now doing layered finishes because of your videos
Two years ago I used your original series to paint my helmet. Nice to see you're back at it. A message to people who plan on painting your own helmet, its not easy, you will make mistakes, and it will take lots and lots of time. But when it's done.....:)
reviving an old video, but this is easily one of the best i have seen for painting the helmet. it looks great. what colors did you use? are you able to list them or dm me them?
Hi Blaidon !! Congratulations on your great work. I wanted to ask you a question ... where can I buy the stickers for the helmet? ' Thank you very much for your help
That looks incredible, how much Maskol did you use in this project? and did you need to reapply each coat, or could you have just added more on top. Was the re-application more to get the accurate painted areas from reference?
Tyler Matchett thank you. So not a lot actually, a bottle of maskol will last me a good 3-4 helmets. It looks like I’m using a lot but the bottle lasts. You can of course leave the maskol on between layers. But I find the longer the paint is on the harder it can be to remove.
@@BlaidonProps oh perfect, thank you very much for the reply, I'm going to try it out the next time I paint my Boba, love the video, the helmet looks sick
Great video !! I’m just embarking on my first ESB helmet build so this is a great reference. Can you tell me the colour or mix you used for the concrete colour ?
Google Name it basically latex. It acts as a liquid masking tape, there’s numerous names and brands. I usually use Humbrol maskol, or Vallejo masking fluid. Both are really good. Hope that helps.
Holy hell man welcome back! Your videos were insanely helpful before! After painting a layer, how long do you wait before putting on maskol? And then how long do you let that dry before painting the next layer? And lastly how long do you let that layer dry before peeling up the masking?
foosbabaganoosh1 it can depend on a few things, what the temperature is, mix ratio of the thinners, how heavy the spray is. I usually do light layers, and wait about an hour before each coat, maybe a bit more if it’s tacky to the touch. With the maskol you can actually see when it’s dried by the dark purple colour it goes, usually by the time I mix the paint and set the brush up it’s dry enough to paint over. Hope that helps.
First of all - I love this film. Its going to help me a lot with my Project. Thank you. BUT - i feel you are skipping something important. If you see the helmet at 08:25 - there is a large open area of metallic silver with no Paint, then when you show off the result at 08:30 the same part has a lot more flicks of paint on it, making it look A LOT better. But what happened between here, because you must have added this?
Uxorious I have a full series with commentary showing all the processes involved in individual videos. All I did during that step is hand paint in those extra details using the colours you already see me spray. I find it’s much easier to hand paint them in, rather than mask around them with the masking fluid. Hope that clears it up.
This would have been better if it didn't have any weathered battle damage on it... I just wanna see at least one person make a nice clean version of it for once.
few quick questions - how come you don't spray the whole helmet silver to start with? As doesn't silver base layer show through on all parts? also, why do you remove the latex each time instead of just extending it? Does this make it easier to keep track of where you are? cheer great work btw!
Krak Fox so I only spray the silver in areas as I’m handling the helmet a lot and don’t want to tarnish or mark it. You can of course paint the whole helmet, I just choose to do it this way. As for the latex, I find the longer you leave it on the helmet, the more stubborn it is to remove. I like to do it while the paint is still slightly tacky. That way it comes off in large sections, and you get a nice clean edge. Also it’s easier to transfer the damage on to rather than over a lumpy latex surface.
James yeah sadly I’m no editor 😂. For the next series of videos I’ve got coming out I’ve got a professional editor putting it all together. So no more crappy iMovie music
I've been researching the color scheme of boba. Very interesting
Finally someone who uses a airbrush instead of spray paint. Great job
Man this deserves more likes this was just so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for the step by step video man.
You’ve got the eye. A natural and with no stencils. Marvellous job mate

Now you know why fully painted and weathered boba fett helmets are so expensive, nice job👍
So satisfying seeing the ripping process to reveal the paint chips!

Fantastic
superb!

Looks awesome
welcome back...good to see you at it again.
Welcome back and i love your Videos!!! Great work!!!
I'm doing a Cobb Vanth helmet, and I was going to go with toothpaste until I saw this. Definitely going to go masking fluid. Beautiful job.
Absolutely fantastic.
Great to see you back and making videos. I finally just got an air brush so it's great to see how an experienced hand moves it.
Never realised just how Labour intensive this was. Great work
Looks fantastic bud
awesome job!
Welcome back. Just wanted to say thank you! I've been painting my ESB helmet on and off for the past year, your videos have been immensely helpful.
This is fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really enjoyed your vid. Great paint work, looks awesome!
Going to use this method on my 6 inch boba
reviving an old video, but this is easily one of the best i have seen for painting the helmet. it looks great. what colors did you use? are you able to list them or dm me them?
Sick helmet bro where did you get the paints? And r they custom mixes
Wow welcome back!!! sick tutorials, we missed ya

I can't get enough of your videos. What's the paint used to do the inside of the bucket?
Fantastic video, I’m inspired for your work, can it possibly be in the Mandalorian armour? Or in any 3d printed armour?
Can you tell me the brand and colors you use for this? I will be attempting a ROTJ paint job myself soon.
I'm new to most of this. What is that purple stuff dude is laying down that they then peel off later?

Fantastic work mate! Have you shared your colors anywhere? If so I can't seem to find them. I just caught a glimpse of a Humbrol bottle.
Thanks.
What are you looking at for a reference??? Is it a book??? If so which one???
Nice. Do you have a rotj sample?
Great video !! I’m just embarking on my first ESB helmet build so this is a great reference. Can you tell me the colour or mix you used for the concrete colour ?
How much for a helmet?
What is the purple paint thing you are using

Do you use mainly humbrol enamels?
Out of curiosity what brand of paint did you use to paint the helmet?
Just curious - what step are you doing between 14:07 - 14:17 of this video?
J Rivas there’s slight shading/weathering on the lower cheeks. This was me lightly spraying it on which doesn’t show up too well on camera.
How much maskol did you use on the helmet?
About a quarter of the bottle if that. It goes a long way, you’d be surprised
Hi, do you apply some transparent varnish to cover all?
Felix Salazar yes, once the helmet is painted it is hit with a matt clear coat to seal everything in and give it all a bit of protection.
Blaidon Props ok thanks, can you tell me what green do you use en the helmett and where do you get it?
Where do you recommend buying a helmet? I haven't been able to find any good ones yet.
Wasted_Fett on Instagram sells the most accurate I've seen
Wasted Fett does do really nice helmets. Head over to the dented helmet forum and it has all the info you need on Boba Fett.
This is awesome. Now we need to see you paint a Jango Fett helmet, to switch it up. ;)
Payton Davis thank you. Sadly no Jango yet, but I have a few other helmets that I plan on doing videos for.
@@BlaidonProps hi, awesome work!! May I ask do you still take commission to make this boba fett helmet?

2 years later, Disney gets Boba to refurbish his helmet and armour in the Mandalorian...
Not a fan of it ngl, the weathering and battle damage is what makes Boba Fett, Boba Fett
